pspAre you wondering what ever happened to the rumored Redesigned PSP? Well, we have more rumors about it. The Redesigned PSP, according to the buzz, will soon make a public appearance at E3 2007 on May 16 - 18, 2007, in Los Angeles.

The Redesigned PSP will supposedly be released in Japan this coming March 2007 (according to a message posted on Evil Avatar, the date was announced in PlayStation Magazine August, 2006 issue). Other rumors say it wont be available until after the E3. That will be sometime around Christmas 2007 or early 2008.

Anyway, the Redesigned PSP will have the following features according to more rumors:

  • Built-in 8GB flash memory chips
  • No hard disk drive
  • More streamlined, thinner and lighter design
  • Built-in still/video camera

you know the new PSP2 will have like the Latest Firmware, and may not Run 1.50, but Hackers will try to..
it will be nice to see the 8GB Flash in the new PSP2.
but i don't think Sony is that stupid. Flash memory is already cheap, and and bundling it u in the system is like killing off the mem stick duo.
i just don't belive it. i think it will have like 128mb or 256mb of flah but not 8gb

There are a lot of good games..

But I hope they improve the flash player!!
There are a lot of flash developers like me who
would like to make games for the psp, now we're
just stuck with limited use of vector graphics.

I also hope they improve the hardware
and include a second analog stick.

typical fanboy response to anything PSP related.

no good games, no good games, where have i heard that before? hmmm...

oh, hey, what have i found? a list of games that have recieved an 8.0 or more on the PSP!

GTA: LCS
GTA: VCS
Mega Man Powered Up
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X
Metal Gear Acid
Metal Gear Acid 2
Lumines 1
Lumines 2
Exit
Loco Roco
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror
Tekken: Ressurection
Daxter
Tomb Raider: Legend
Lego Star Wars 2
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Guitaroo Man Lives!

should i go on, because i can.

this retarded cliche of the PSP having no good games needs to stop. it's just as retarded as the X Box only has FPS cliche, and the DS only has kiddie Mario games on it.

this fanboyism is ridiculous and seriously needs to stop. it makes my brain ache.

also, i love how Nintendo can re-release a handheld 8-12 months after the original's release, offer minute changes (hey, the GBASP and DS Lite are smaller and have brighter backlights! give me full price for this minor adjustment!), but if Sony releases a redesigned PSP, with changes that are actually *GOOD*, they get reamed.

Personally, I have played only a few of those. pretty much every other one, and needless to say, I wasn't pleased. Yes, I enjoy the games ported to the PSP (Valkyrie Profile) and all the Homebrew that is out there. I don't really know, I just wish there would be more WiFi Games, you know. Make use of the potential that the handheld was given. If there was no Homebrew for this system, I would have to say I wasted $250 for it. I haven't truly found anything I am pleased with as of yet. Prove me wrong and I shall love you forever.

» Why buy a new PSP

Even if the rumors are true (which I seriously doubt) there isn't enough of an upgrade for me to dump my PSP. Right now PSP's are going for $200 for standard. The revamp will have to sell for $300 or better. Who will pay that much for a handheld.

Re: Max F. (QJ. NET Staff) - 2006-12-29
 » E3 still exists...

...in a very downscaled kind of way. Like what Fatvod said in the comment above, E3 is basically just a board room meeting for bigwigs (not really, but many people exaggerate because many are peeved that E3 will no longer be the big sprawling game convention it used to be). Yup, mere mortals should not try to get in to E3 2007. Somebody once joked (in a sad sort of way) that it will basically be a bunch of executives in black suits.

   Re: Unregistered (Unregistered) - 2006-12-29
» yea E3 still exists but

it's not a big production where random people can sneak in. It's gonna just be like a conference with keynote addresses. Still I'm pretty sure the NEW E3 is supposed to be in June or Juy NOT May so I'm not sure how accurate this rumor is.

Dude, they said after E3 2005 that E3 was going away. Thx to all those nerds that weren't even press that somehow got a press pass. Companies notice that there were more nerds than press so they lost interest. In 2006 E3 these news were confirm. Don't you visit Joystiq.com?

8GB sounds like major overkill to me
redesigned is fair enough...but its not going to be much different to the original
look at nintedo DS and DSlite, is DSlite such a major overhaul. no basically the same
i expect sony if they ever release PSP2 to do so in like 3 years
PS1 released 1994
PS2 released 2000
PS3 released 2006
sony have been giving each generation console 6 years and i'm thinkin they'll do the same for the portable units

First, yes, No E3, it was stopped after last years, Second, why in the HELL would sony kill the predecessor thats only 2 years old in US and approx 2 and half in JAP, = NO.. it doesn't work, the rumor mill for this already got smashed last year, now this year adding the E3 into the batch just made it ballistically retarded.

   Re: infraBLUEkid (Unregistered) - 2006-12-29
» Ur not wrong, but, ur not right

E3 wasnt cancelled, it was downscaled, it will still havent, only with limited invite.

And the nintendo ds wasnt upgraded in any way, but it got a redesign with the dslight, it took less than a year to do that.

I hop the new psp will have two sticks, but i dont care anyway about that, longs as its hackable, i'LL buy the new one, and never use it until someone hacks it and runs my old hb games on it

I love the way some people always put up a fight when rumors of a redesigned PSP come up. If Nintendo does it with all their handhelds every year then there is no problem but when Sony does it that's when you have a problem. I for one would buy it only if they added a second analog stick and a faster UMD Drive.

Some people really need to take the *****s out of their asses in posts, First of all E3 did get cancelled, it's not an expo anymore, just conferences between the major game devs and etc. For those of you to sit there and call people 'idiots' for saying E3 is no more, you people have no *****ing lives, and need to dislodge whatever is corking your ***** at this point.

And for people to continuously believe that Sony is coming out with a redesign next year are also a bit dillusional.

(Washington, DC) - October 13, 2006 - The new E3 Media and Business Summit will be held July 11-13, 2007, in Santa Monica, California, and will combine the best elements of the former trade show into a business event celebrating the video game industry's present and future, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) announced today.

The centerpiece of the invitation-only, three-day event will be the opportunity for both ESA members and non-members to stage major press events, and to have intimate meetings in premier hotel suites and meeting rooms with media, retailers, developer partners, and other audiences. In addition, the nearby Barker Hangar will be converted into a software showcase where attendees will be able to casually test drive the featured video games planned for the coming holiday season and beyond.

"By combining suite-based meetings with the software showcase in a controlled and business-like environment, we believe we will successfully fulfill our primary objective of giving high-level media the best of all worlds -- the chance to engage in highly personal, one-on-one dialogue with leading game company executives, as well as the chance to demo games on their own time and to check out offerings from both the best known and emerging game publishers and developers," said Douglas Lowenstein, President of the ESA. "It will also provide an excellent opportunity for meetings with retailers, developers and other audiences."

The new E3 will also feature a daily luncheon conference session with top executives and/or analysts and a Serious Games showcase. In addition, ESA is exploring adding an independent games showcase and including the highly successful "Into The Pixel" video game art competition and exhibition. Finally, evenings will be a time for receptions and parties so participants can interact at the informal events that have been an E3 tradition.

"The new E3 is first and foremost about getting business done. When we asked key audiences what they wanted in the new event, we heard that they wanted opportunities for high-level meetings in a business-like setting, to play games, network, and socialize, to see major company offerings while also preserving the sense of discovery that is so much a part of E3, and to hear substantive presentations on the most important issues and trends facing the industry," said Lowenstein. "We believe the event we have shaped will fulfill all those needs."

Lowenstein noted that all the hotels involved will be within easy walking distance of one another, and there will be a shuttle bus system to facilitate movement to the hotels and Barker Hangar, as well as to major off-site press conferences, such as those staged by the major console companies. "The new E3 event will be more personal, efficient and focused, and it will provide the top stakeholders who make games, sell games, and cover games streamlined access to the people and products they most need to see."

The Barker Hangar venue, a short drive from the hotels, will allow participating companies to showcase their games in standardized, turnkey displays areas ranging from 100 square feet to 400 square feet. All display areas will be developed by show management to ensure that the venue is staged efficiently.

As noted, the event will be open to ESA members and non members alike. Companies involved in console, PC, online, and mobile game publishing and developing, as well as makers of video game hardware and peripherals will be eligible to participate. Attendance at all events, meetings, and demonstrations will be by invitation only. Transportation between venues will be provided to event participants. ESA expects that event booking will be launched within the next 30 days.

The ESA is the U.S. association dedicated to serving the business and public affairs needs of the companies publishing interactive games for video game consoles, handheld devices, personal computers, and the Internet. ESA members collectively account for more than 90 percent of the $7 billion in entertainment software sales in the

 » according to some sources....

some people say the PSP is a flop... If they do release a revamped PSP, it's not going to help it much and is a waste of R&D. They should spend those R&D time in making better games and exploit better the hardware... ie.: maybe make it open source, so third party can actually make/create peripherals and homebrew without bricking our damn PSP. And as far as I know, the infrared thingy has never been exploited yet.... officially I mean.

 » don't get me wrong...

Some might say I'd be a fanboy for saying that...

I bought the PS2 when it camed out, got the very first bulky version... when they revamped it, the slimline PS2, I sold my old PS2 and bought the slimline one right away.

But revamped PSP?? I don't think so.

   Re: HAHA (Unregistered) - 2007-01-07
 » yeah and

now you need a mod chip for your slim ps2
where I can play backups and homebrew on my
FAT ps2 without modding it in anyway what so ever...

prime example to keep the older version,

ME Id probally buy the psp2 as an addition to my current gamming consoles. I would never replace my old psp with some new thing that
has not yet been hacked,

And Im sure it will be no time hacking the new psp2, face it sony cannot stop the homebrew world. Just look at the ps3, They have already started to exploit it and will continue to make
breakthrews as we speak

And i belive the 8Gb + 1 gigabite,
of flash is not the NAND flash used to store the firmware but it is the flash used to store files and such,

Imagine inserting your 4 gig duo stick and
haveing 5 gig's of space to play with..

nothen wrong with that at all,
and on top of that they could stop releaseing
the 1gig with the bundlepacks because it is built in, all and all i think thats the cheaper route to go.
