Ó

In the homebrew community, the mention of certain few developers' names can cause such a ruckus that can be heard all the way out in the deep, dark Mines of Moria (gee, talk about exaggeration). One of those names that cause people to run amok like headless chickens is Dark_AleX. Especially with his recent game-breaking homerun of a release of the 3.02 OE-A Custom Firmware, people can't help but gush with PSone emulation glee.

Take for example Fisher6. He sent us an email about posting some proof of the PSone emulation via OE-A. He takes it for a spin and plays Hot Shots Golf 2 in this video:

(video removed)

The strange thing about this, though, is that it doesn't show any footage of the game actually being played. We're just shown the menu and loading screens. Where's the actual game? In any case, for the skeptic people doubting the OE-A's power of running PSone emulation, at least here's the proof - well, half-proof, at the very least.

UPDATE: All thanks to one of our commenters who prefers to go by the name of "er", we now have a new video to show you guys which bears the full proof (as compared to the earlier half-proof) that the emulator works. Enjoy!

A torrent team was quick to release the 3.02-OE-A version of Crash bandicoot... and now has around 100 seeders; 466MB. I bought the game (***** of me -_-) and now I dont have to buy games... they're free!

Plus, if PSOne games that you have are available, download them for free! I mean, you already own the original stuff, right?

you don't have to rip them at all...3.02 oe-a is made so you don't need the sertificate file so you can just trade or treansfer them with friends...sony must be so pissed at this moment

 » Useless

By and large, for those pirateers out there, the PSOne emulation is next to useless. Ignoring the exceptions of the few games that don't have superior PSP versions, there is little point at all for the average pirate to care for the PSOne versions. The PSOne emulation right now is more of a budget option for people who want a cheaper route to *purchasing* games for their unit.

   Re: hunty (Unregistered) - 2006-12-22
 » nah

You never had a PlayStation did you? There are some absolute classics on there that you won't see on the PSP

   Re: me (Unregistered) - 2006-12-22
 » pleb

do you even know what you are talking about, "budget" option?

You left out the fact that you have to have a $600 PS3 just to download the games, dumbass.

   Re: Panties (Unregistered) - 2006-12-22
 » @Hunty

>You never had a PlayStation did you?

*cough cough* Pre-ordered at Virgin Megastore Sydney circa 1995 ... ie. at launch! So you could say yes. I agree there were some gems, but for the games people are playing today, there are more often than not a superior native PSP version.

 » to pleb (dumbass)

Well thats why PS3 owners like me are helping to release PSOne games that work on 3.02-OE-A... Im releasing a Tekken 2 torrent right now for all to use! Im being generous this holiday season, huh?

   Re: OoZic - 2006-12-22
 » well

tell Sony that they bring out the PS3 next week here in Europe so I can buy a PS1 game from them. Till then it is not stealing but just testing.

I really want to buy PS1 games from them, even if I own the original and have payed a license already (I have to pay twice, now that is stealing). But Sony don't want me to, so it is there own fault, not mine.

   Re: PurpleShadow (Unregistered) - 2006-12-23
 » @ Tealwolf

Even if you own a game, downloading the eboot version of it is still illegal. Don't forget that Sony put money into the emulators development and in return need to make a little money. Sony's a company, not some god damn charity.
There are people who actually pay for these games, beleive it or not. Let's just hope that Sony don't pull out on the PSX emulator any time soon.

a hotmail mailbox has a maximum of, i think, 10 mb.
So stop asking and install something like a torrent program!!
