One thing good about the homebrew development scene is that there are some useful applications that can help you in your studies, including language trainers. To those who want to learn more about the Japanese language, here's a nice homebrew application for you: introducing Read Japanese, a Japanese reading trainer by Eelim. This Japanese language learning module currently includes Hiragana and Katakana Standard Pronunciation training.

The application is currently in its Alpha version, and here are what's to come in the later versions of this useful homebrew trainer:
  • Hiragana & Katakana non-Standard Pronunciation Training
  • Kanji Pronunciation Training
  • Word and Sentence Training
  • More Training Games, Score Keeping, Profiles
  • Better Visuals

UPDATE: Eelim got some free time, letting him update his Read Japanese application sooner than expected. Here's the changelog for the updated version:
  • new visuals and Menu
  • added second game mode
  • while learning now the sound of the symbol on the screen is played one time
  • without the need to press a button
  • tons of minor bugfixes
