TA-082

As D-Day for TA-082ers comes closer and closer, we're getting more info about how the whole process will work. 0okm has given answers for a small list of questions. I'll quote him first:

Will I be able to update to 2.0 and then down to 1.5 again to get a clean firmware? (whats the difference between clean and unclean 1.5 anyway?)
No, just like PSP-1007 can't run FW1.50 Update EBOOT.PBP, TA-082 can't run FW1.50 - FW2.50 Update EBOOT.PBP. And I don't want to release the "clean FW1.50 image file"(that is illegal !!). So i need time to make a "Write software" that can generate "clean FW1.50" :P

Will I be able to upgrade to 3.0 when PS1 emulator comes out?
Yes, TA-082 can run FW2.60/FW2.70/FW2.71/FW2.80 and above Update EBOOT.PBP files.

How do you intend to manually downgrade hundreds of PSPs if it takes 45 minutes to do each one?
I think each day I can help up to 5 TA-082 users to softdown :P

Alright, so the method is a bit cumbersome, and will take a bit of time. But you know what? At least all of you guys will get custom-made firmware images from  one of the best, erm, developers in the scene; you can't go wrong with them. Secondly,  one day, the image creator and clean firmware image might even leak onto the web. *hint*

I personally don't have a TA-082, but I saw the TA-082er's sad faces/replies when the original 2.50/60 downgrader came out. Well, now it's your time to enjoy the fireworks! Keep checking our site for the latest updates!

 » Impresive!

Does that mean that Ookm has been able to manage the unique hard key embended in each TA-082 to create a custom 1.5? Wow! That is a genius work! I can't figure out how he made it... Very very very good work! What an impressive scene the PSP has. But I doubt he will be able to manage the huge work of patching hundreds by the moment an thousands in the future of TA-082 PSP's. Anyway there will be always people happy to help him (Like me) in this heroic project. Don't doubt to contact me if you need any type of colaboration. I hope everybody can get an 1.5 magical PSP!

This doesn't help 2.71 at all does it?? Would this be a more reliable method to downgrade because isn't the other method 2.5/2.6 downgrader have a high chance of stuffing up. like 6% which is high

And know this 0okm guy is willing to give me another hope but sounds to much amazing I mean he is he goanna possibly give image files that take 45 minutes to create to every one out including me ! correct me if i am wrong but isent it just so much easier to make a pc software that creates the image file so you can do it youreself ? I mean he is a proffesional skilled develdoper he could managed to do that ! instead of wasting days of making dose images .... i am pissed at my psp so frikking sad to boot up the GTA all the time when you want homebrew..... stop allowing people to pirate more games. We all know 99%+ of people wanting to downgrade only want it to play pirated ISO's. you are hurting not only sony but the homebrew scene.

People are gonna say "oh but this will let me run legal homebrew!" but stop kidding yourselves. you're all little kiddies. hahah

PS3 FTW!!

 » Iso's ...

I too was really excited about ISO loaders when I first got my PSP... But that excitement died soon after sampling the quality of PSP games :/
I love my 1.5 psp, however playing actual PSP games is something I rarely do.

 » What??

You mean to tell me that hes going to downgrade every TA-082 psp who wants it MANUALLY??

Don't get me wrong its fantastic hes achieved this feat, but please someone tell me hes joking about the manual downgrade of each psp...

lol

   by #10 (Unregistered) - 2006-08-25
 » sigh

people don't want to downgrade just 4 isos, and y r there so many people like u about...***** sony, they've *****ed over plenty of companies thanks to the playstation

and i'm sure that the 3% or whatever of people who have homebrew on their psp (not iso loaders, just homebrew), isn't going to effect their profits by much..trust me

   by RaZoR (Unregistered) - 2006-08-25

if you need to send him your dump, and then he sends the clean 1.5 image file bavk to you...

if he doesn't want to release the image file because it's illegal, then if someone got his TA-082 softdowned by recieving the image from 0okm, then I see him release the image file, and so the image file spreads accross the internet wouldn't it?

   by RaiderX - 2006-08-25
 » wow.

not only has 0okm spent the time to make the whole thing, buthes gonna have to guide each person through it. Wonder if its a lot of stuff to do, he should release the steps to other knowledgable people so there are more people who can help ta-082 users downgrade and thus less work for him and more downgrades

 » question

i downgraded my psp from 2.6 to 1.5 do i have to upgrade then downgrade again to 1.5 to get a "clean" firmware?????

what is "clean" firmware?????

   by FreePlay - 2006-08-25
» "Clean" firmware is a myth.

"Clean" firmware is a myth. There's no such thing as a "dirty" firmware. When you downgrade from any higher firmware, some files are left behind. However, the older firmware doesn't even know that those files exist, so they can't hurt anything.

so i dont need to upgrade then downgrade again for those files????

 » 0okm your the best

May i suggest a £5 or more donation for 0okm for each downgrade he helps with or $10 or more.

i think he deserves this guys.

» Clean firmware is not a myth!!

When you downgrade a 2.6 Psp to 1.5, the method used is an undocumented flashing method obviously via an exploit as opposed to the official method.

When you use a downgrader that manages to utilise Sonys official method (for example downgrading 2.0 to 1.5) then you can rely on it 100%.

After downgrading a 2.6, I recommend faking firmware to 1.0 and then ''upgrading'' to 1.5 using the official Sony update.

Do you really think an update method coded around an exploit that uses an undocumented routine of flashing as opposed to Sonys official update is going to be 100%?

I have a lot of respect towards 0okm as he is taking his time out to help the hundreds of ta 082 owners that are out there and for free!
Well done 0okm! (not that you are reading this :P)

 » @17

when i downgraded from FW2.6 to 1.5 i couldnt load games w/ "Run UMD" cuz of the files left from 2.6
so i downgraded to 1.00 then update to 1.5 n everything work fine after that..so it does matter

   by majesticreigns - 2006-08-25
 » no problems

well i havent had any probelms with my 1.5 after i downgraded from 2.6 but now im running harleyg's custom firmware mod v0.2 and ive been fooling around with x-flash a little but no problems, so do i still need to downgrade to 1.0 then upgrade to 1.5 to get a clean firmware????

   by ppp (Unregistered) - 2006-08-25
 » wtf

5 psps a day at 45 minutes each thats like almost 4 hours a day lol. 0okm must either have a ton of free time with nothing better to do or hes gonna charge us for it. and at that rate you'd have to wait in line for months before your turn came lol.

but hopefully a better method will be found :/

 » hey majesticreigns...

If your downgraded 2.6 is working fine then theres no need to upgrade to 2.0 then redowngrade. I think these reports of unclean 1.5s after downgrade are mostly BS. People were speculating that 2.6s downgraded to 1.5 were getting bricked after using themepsp, however I dont think that was ever proven and you are using a custom fw anyway (recovery mode) so you should have no worries.

   by CommunistSpaceMonkey (Unregistered) - 2006-08-25
» GRRR you shouldnt have upgraded to 2.7

Upgrade for a demo and a lame ass flash player?!? You're a *****in moron. Patience is a virtue. Let this be a lesson to ya.

 » reply to no.29

I have downgraded a friends PSP from 2.6 to 1.5 and there was definitely issues with the machine which weren't fixed until I upgraded to 2.0 then downgraded again to 1.5 so the problems people experienced did exist.

The way this will be done though is completely different so the same types of problems shouldn't re-occur.
