One of the well-known homebrew developers, 0okm, has just bought his own PSP-2006PB or what is otherwise known as PlayStation Portable Slim/Lite. We are not certain where exactly the item was purchased but it seems that the new SKU has finally arrived in Hong Kong earlier today.

Also, we checked around the Internet and learned that the official SonyStyle store for HK has already started selling the new PSP units for HK$ 1,280 or roughly around US$ 164.15. The colors available for purchase include Silver, White, and Piano Black (similar to 0okm's).

Consistent with earlier reports, PSP Slim is indeed running on official firmware 3.60. Some of the other features implemented by Sony on this new system include RAM increase, improved battery life, and TV output among others. 0okm has promised to disassemble the PSP Slim in the coming days and to report on whatever new things he finds out.

Other markets should have their retail supplies of PSP Slim and Lite by September 20.

Well I'll be buying at least one PSP slim to donate to the cause. No worries I have one with CFW if the slim dies.

pandora battery will not work, the battery for psp slim in thinner and diffrent.... even if the padnora concept was the same for psp slim, we will have to wait several months before the team cracks 3.6 the olf fashion way... then we can downgrade to 1.5 make the battery and be able to downgrade any upcoming version [if sony doesnt find a way to patch it]... but cracking the firmware old fashion way will take longer... seeing how D_A and fanjita is not part of the seen anymore... they are the masters of downgrading...

 » pandora will work

you can use the old battery to boost the autonomy of the slim... The only reason it shouldn't work is if they modified the motherboard or the new firmware to prevent access to the service mode.

   Re: ! (Unregistered) - 2007-08-31
» just my point of view....

I think psp-slim is NOT downgradable, because 3.60 is the first firmware pspslim is supporting.

 » pandoras battery?

ive always wondered this since the pandoras battery came out...would the thing downgrade/unbrick even THIS PSP? i would think so right? since wasnt the thing a dev tool or something? maybe sony didnt change anything to do with the battery because they didnt know about it until now.

Re: not as is (Unregistered) - 2007-08-31
 » ...

weve already had reports a pandoras battery dosent boot up with the few slims people have gotten their hands on, but that it does indeed react to its presence, which means with some work it potentially could either downgrade or enable homebrew in some way.

   Re: mohaas05 (Unregistered) - 2007-08-31

it probably needs a different memory stick since the mobo probably wont accept anything under a 3.60 kernel.

   Re: hmmm... (Unregistered) - 2007-08-31
 » Re:

I imagine sony are confident that its not possible to downgrade using pandora's battery or they would have delayed release of the slim psp until they were sure is was hacker proof.

 » PSP scene is dead

It's not downgrade able, so quit wishing, you will need to wait for someone to crack this. The new motherboards require code that is not available in older firmware to operate. I would donate some time and money, but this community is a lost cost, between all the rippers and unethical hackers(ie any coder who would purposely include bricking code or release code behind a fellow coders back, or even use others code, improved or not to make money).

If a coder worth a damn should arise I will be happy to donate some time and hardware to them, but as of right now, the scene is full of script kiddies.

You want a portable machine the serves all your needs, get a UMPC or a PDA, the PSP just won't cut it anymore.

   Re: Techni (Unregistered) - 2007-08-31

I have a UMPC. Those are NOT gaming machines at all. PDAs suck for gaming as much as a DS does.

Yeah and a umpc costs way too much, unless you get a stolen one.. And most pdas suck, i have 2, and they're terrible for gamin unless you want2 fork out a good bit like 400 for a really good one, and the games for pda pretty much suck balls, if not , ie tony hawks, tombraider, quake, there is a better equilivant onthe psp. And of course the slim will be hacked, it's as obvious as the irrationality of your comment dig.

Ahoy mattys. You can go and stick that PSP up your arses if you think Piracy hurts anyone or anything. You need to have your block an tackle lobbed off for suggestin that anyone who pirates something would go an buy it if they were unable to copy/download it. You are obviously affected by the skirvy, and syphillis eats at ur brain.

now stfu about piracy hurting anything, if you work for SOny .. just say so and say you don't like piracy. otherwise stfu.

» PSP Slim downgraded with Pandora's battery....

The PSP Slim might be able to downgrade with the Pandora's battery. I know you might say, it's impossible, the old PSP battery is bigger than the newer one. That is true, the width of the battery is bigger but I saw a picture of the old PSP battery in the new PSP Slim on Gamespot.com. It's just that you can't put the battery case over the battery if you use the old PSP battery.

» Heres some info about the slim PSP.

Is that even though Dark Alex is not on the scene, he goes on a forum and such and then he told everyone that even if Sony found out about the Pandoras Unbricker, the slim was already being mass produced, so they couldnt be able to patch the stuff because they have already gone into production and it was too late but later on they may do it.

Dark Alex also said that its possible for the PSP SLIM to be homebrew enables, all you need to do is take the Pandoras battery program and instead of making it unbrick to 1.50, they could put CFW into it, so that when you use it, your PSP SLIM could boot up and you can convert it to CFW 3.60, all it needs, is a little work on the program AKA pandoras.

Also you people that don't believe that the old PSP battery doesnt fit into the slim, Sony already said, when they first announced the PSP slim, that they would be able to use the old batteries from the old PSPs for longer game time but it would stick out of the slim and you would need a new cover, to cover the battery. If you havent noticed the guy behind Sony already stated this.

Research it on GOOGLE.

PSP SLIM is hackable, all they need to do is make the pandoras unbricker program change from 1.50 to CFW 3.60

Maybe PSP slim can be downgraded using the pandora's battery? Just thought...
cause the PSP battery fits into the PSP slim...

   by dig - 2007-09-01
 » PSP SLim

I am not saying it will never be hacked. I am saying, in its current state, battery or not, it is not downgrade-able. It requires certain code from the 3.60 firmware to boot. When 3.60 is hacked, then you may see the possibility of that hardware specific code being implemented into older firmware but without the code, it's not going to happen.

In short, it is going to require new custom firmware based on code from the 3.60 series firmware to work. Nothing that has been released is going to work, no matter how you combine it. Anyone who has read the white papers and have seen the dev kit might have half a brain and already know this.

Again, prove me wrong and I will gladly donate some time and money into a project aimed at this.

 » Dependency?

There are modules that are dependent in the bootstrap of PSP slim?
How you know that?
Can`t that dependency be solved with non-dependent oe-a?
I can`t believe that there are hardware checks...

In both cases: M33, you got my undivided respect! (Dark_Alex #1)

Prediction: Pandora using 3.60 oe = Homebrewz for anyone!
