With the first release of Dark_Alex's Custom Firmware (SE-A), the basic features boiled down to the execution of homebrew by "regular" means like 1.50 firmware users have been doing for over a year now. With this newest addition to the custom firmware "family", Dark_Alex has improved the previous features as well as added some new ones which will turn several heads: --- Installation --- |

Great Work Dark Alex
Unfortunatly, this didn't work for me. Upgrading from SE-A seemed fine, but my PSP hangs whenever I try to access the memory stick. Recovery time! :-)
I'm not suffiently in need of the upgrades this firmware offers to try it again. I'll reflash to SE-A when my battery is fully charged (which is super, BTW.)
if you dont have an iso folder at the root of your mem stick even if you dont run isos it freezes
Dark Alex, very nice work and SE-C is going to be even better with the "no more UMD" option. Rock on. Anyway, a small suggestion based on your readme doc in this firmware and in SE-A.
For the love of god man, change the error message for the SEC flash and language changes. Right now you've got "DADADADA" and "987654321"... I know those have to be error messages you put in. Why can't you have something meaningfull in there?
Try these... SEC Flash Not Allowed or SEC Flash Update Unsupported and for the other... Language Selection Invalid or Language Selection Not Supported.
People won't have to freaking guess and search when they get those then, not to mention it's a whole lot cleaner looking too.
Come on dude, stop with the basic ass hacker error messages. You want to be a cool developer, set an example.
That is all, keep up the good work!
i rly luv dis cso/iso option buh i think it will be better if he mar a new catgort for tha iso
like there is setting photo music network there should be another one call ISO's n tha memory stick icon should lead to ms0:pspiso
this way people wid alot of homebrew can be more organized and serperate tha iso from applications
just my opinion
I just got Ace Combat X (which requires 2.81 fw) running on this. Great job Dark Alex!! Keep up the awesome work!!
by the way first
but i am not gonna need this cuz i have a v1.5 custom fw already...
then shut the f.ck up,i have one too,and who cares who's first loser
just creat an ISO folder on the root of the MS
thanks again dark alex!!! though it seems that whatever firmware that can play iso's... you're still screwed if you have the ta-82.
U can use Hen-C and Devhook if u have TA-082....
Hen-C you mean Hennesey?
This is a great piece of software but for me anyway I think I will stick with devhook as I don't like mucking about with flashing my firmware. I'm just worried that with my luck I will end up screwing something up.
well i don wanna go with this v2.71 SE-B fw cuz i already took enough brick changes since my warranty is over...
also i heard that the Harleyg's Custom Firmware Patch v0.2 is better since u are using a v1.5! (less risk)
Yes, flashing for 5 minutes is a bit more of a risk, but so is any update...
Besides Harleyg' is/was behind some component of this custom fw, and do remember who made the FIRST custom fw? ( Dark Alex, the author you are facing here. )
Besides, Casual is gunna make 1.50 pwn all.
this take's 5 minutes 2 flash?
Do I still need to use Devhook/vshex to run .iso/.cso games from my HD via USB ?
Yeah, but apparently it's planned for SE-C.
Read the readme - it's what it is there for.
ISO/CSO files show up under the memory stick games - but still require a UMD to be in the PSP.
Mine was a stupid comment I should read the question better first. KirbySS was right - you have to wait for the next version to do it via USB.
It does require such a program for the moment. I hope running games from a WiFi-connected server will be possible some time soon, cause playing with the usb cable isn't that mobile, is it?
What do I do if I have firmware 2.5... upgrade to 2.71??
Please help
lame fanjita imposter u tard face dark alex is probrably the best thing that has happened to the psp community
Downgrade to 1.5, then generate the .dxar file and flash it to obtain 2.71 SE-B firmware.
But make sure that your PSP isn't a TA-082.
WHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
TIME TO PARTAY!!!!! CHEERS!!!
This is great, the only reason I didn't try this before is cuz I didnt want to change my GAME forlders and patch every game just to work for this FW. I have Devhook which plays my backups already, so why would I fuss with a FW that doesn't, that problem is fixed now too....YAY!!!!! :D
Can I update directly from 2.71 SE-A? Or do I have to downgrade to 1.5 first?
if you have 2.71 se-a then you have to go back to 1.5 then 2.71 se-b?
If you are already on 2.71 SE-A then read the Readme.txt file....there is an seb_update folder in the download....pop this into your Game150 folder, run the update and you are at 2.71 B...easy.
The rest is if you are already at original 1.50 or 2.71.
nice, thanks.
Uh so basically if i have FW 2.6, i have to downgrade first? I cant just update to FW 2.71 and then install the custom? .> updated cause i was too impatient to play Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth
Yes, you have to downgrade.
Native ISO and CSO support??
Now my Girlfriend can play the psp without always asking me to load devhook.
I went from 1.50 to 2.71 SE-A. Now will update to Rev. B
A good bit of advice would be keep a copy of the recovery files in their correct directories on a separate mem stick (keep that mem stick v. safe). This will protect you in the event of a semi brick and your mem stick being corrupt.
Great Work Dark Alex - SOny must be chewing thier own behind to find out who you are ;)
NeoN HaZe.
yeh i bet the epsilon/modchip developers will be pissed aswell, rendering their modchips useless hahahaha, all those modchips are useful for now is motherboard replacement
The only modchip customers that would regret it are the ones that fried their PSP's trying to install it. I think the rest of them will be in front of us when firmware 3.0 ships.
Awsome!! Can I install this now when I have the SE-A?
YEP! just use the updater! it takes about 5 secs
but qj is still gay!
ur stupid....shut up
THIS IS SOOO GREAT! ... i can load my games from the XMB :> :>
Can wait for version c , no disk needed 4 iso's
updated my 1.5 when 2.71 se-a was released and loved it and now that b is out and i dont have to run devhook anymore it is class and the good thing is if somethin amazin and new happens on 1.5 it can just be downgraded again using the recovery menu dark alex you are truly the man keep up the good work
This is great for all of us,is there anything yous cant do?
I was already using 2.71se-a and upgrading to 2.71se-b was easier than using a sony update lol.
Keep up the good work fellas your doing great!!!
he should rename himself to KinG_Dark_AleX :D
brikt
lier
lies
SE-A to SE-B is the best update i have ever done - takes about 3 seconds.
i am registered here i hav no history of bein a ***** and i officially have a brikt psp
" i am registered here " " by mike (Unregistered) - 2 hours ago"
Right.
all i wish for now is an update for one of those psp orginization apps that includes something to orginized my umd backups in the game folder. after that i'll be totaly set. DAmn this is assome oh soooooo asome!
Total great, loved the a version but b is totally sweet ;P
Can´t you play game trough USB on 2.71SE???
on SE-B you can only play from ur mem stick on the SE-C,which Dark_alex is working on will be that function.
Moving 2.71 homebrew to a GAME271 folder sounds better to me.
My only question is if themes PSP works with this one. I suppose I could use the 2.71 SE Customizer but I love theme its pretty and plays music while flashing.
If ill be updatng my psp from 1.5 to that custom firmware, could anyone tell me,... How do i run the cso/isos?
cause in the vid i see the person just loads them under game, but how would that be on the memstick?
i am not into the custom firmware stuff, so this might be a really nooby question, but i'd hope anyone can help me.
Thanks. Escudo
just put them on X:/ISO and run them from the XMB Game Menu! its very easy
if you were runnin version a before you bricked your psp just run recovery mode and reflash 1.5 to unbrick it
when you update to 2.71 se-b there will be a iso folder in the root of your memory stick just put them there then when you run your psp just go to game go down to memory stick and they will be there then just press x to run them
That just sounds freaking awesome :)
and if its uncool, you can easily downgrade back to 1.5 ;d? wooty.
think im gonna try it later on today. :D
