Ó

There's always been a reason to own one, some people just don't get what we get.The windfall from Dark_Alex's 2.71 SE-C continues. Over at our forums, suloku has released his 2.71 Kernel AUTOBOOT Plugin for 2.71 SE-C. Here's what he has to say about it (which is short and sweet):

Here's a plugin, made with the fantastic Dark_Alex's SDK, that allows us to autoboot into a 271 kernel application, instead of a 1.5 kernel one. Great for IR Shell.

How to use:

-extract to ms0:/seplugins

-add he prx to vhs.txt

-enable the prx from the recovery menu. It will load the eboot at ms0:/seplugins/EBOOT.PBP

note: XMB can be launched from irshell with no problem.

As it says, this allows the PSP to autoboot into a 2.71 kernel application. As suloku clarifies in a later post, "271SE autoboot only allows 1.5 kernel". An example, also used by suloku: "Irshell 3.0 will be released during this week, so we can now boot into it's 271 version, with he benefits that are implicit."

   Re: JOshISPoser - 2006-11-26
 » 2.71 kernel

if you have a custom firmware, there are two game folders, game150 and game. 2.71 kernel is in game which normally isn't used. so now, this program will use it a bit for autoloading since the autoloading is in game150

   Re: shear - 2006-11-27
 » ^^ wrong

What he means by "2.71 kernel" is that it uses 2.71 to load the app, as opposed to the 1.5 kernel used in normal homebrew loading.

Homebrew is normally loaded using modules from fw 1.5, which is what makes it possible.

When someone writes an app specifically for 2.71 using the supplied SDK, it is loaded using modules from 2.71 (providing kernal access). THAT is the kernal.

Re: just try it (Unregistered) - 2006-11-26
 » just try it

in the root of your memory stick, this is the place where you can see the psp folder, make a new folder and rename it seplugins. In this folder you place the prx file you want to use which in this case the the 271autoboot.prx that comes with the download. after that open up notepad and type this in the first line :
ms0:/seplugins/271autoboot.prx

then save the txt file with the name vsh.txt in the same seplugins folder that the prx file is in.

once that done just reboot your psp in recovery mode and scroll down the the pulgins option once in side you should see the 271autoboot.prx plugin all you have to do is enable it and your done exit the recovery mode and it should be active. to turn it off you just have to go into recovery mode and disable it

Re: Oh and one more thing (Unregistered) - 2006-11-26
 » oh i almost forgot

don't forget that for this thing to work you need to place the eboot of the 2.71 homebrew you want to bootup with in the seplugins folder also...

   Re: g (Unregistered) - 2006-11-26
 » g

the eboot and all the corispoding files that come with it in it's folder.

 » my guess

I think this is for loading up homebrew programs that are meant for 2.71 at startup. One thing i still clueless on is ir for 2.71 se i mean i read that it dosen't work if you set it up to boot. but mine does fine but...well i just read that this would fix the problem with launching the xmb from ir shell. which dosen't work for me but would this make it so you can switch back and forth from 2.71 xmb to irshell? like in the old days with 1.5. Or does it just launch leaving you with no method to return to ir shell. like can i play mp3's in ir shell now while streaming video to the xmb again...is that what this does?

I do not have a game folder 150... do I need to make one? I am not even compleatly clear on rebooting it in recovery mode? WOULD SOME ONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

   by syko_cis - 2006-11-27
 » hmmm.....

i can't seem to get this to work. i copied the seplugins folder to my MS root. i made the vsh.txt file with ms0:/seplugins/271autoboot.prx at the first line. i even copied the 2.71 eboot.php to the seplugins folder as well. when i enable the plugin in recovery mode and exit out, my psp doesn't go back to the XMD. i just get a flashing MS led. if i shut the psp off and then turn it back on, same thing. i did find a conf.bin file in the seplugins folder. any ideas????
