PSPThe Unique Warrior has today released a new PRX for all the 2.71 SE-C users that will allow you to reboot or power off your PSP in the blink of an eye - circumventing the need to use that sometimes irritating power button which takes so long to switch off a PSP.

After installing this PRX, all you have to do is press HOME + Select to shut down (you'll be powered off in 0.5 sec), and press HOME + Start to cause the power LED to flash 4 or 5 times to reboot the PSP. These hot keys work whether in game or in the XMB, so make sure you don't press them by accident or you could lose your place in a game as it doesn't ask for confirmation.

To install this PRX, all you have to do is run Coldbird's Universal Module Flasher and install the module, or you can copy the files in se_plugins in the MS_ROOT/SE_PLUGINS to ms0:/se_plugins, then activate the PRX from recovery mode. If you are a developer and are interested in this PRX, here's what The Unique Warrior said about this release:

  • Uses 24 bliting. (not always seen as every thing goes fast)
  • Functions PRX uses to reboot and shut down PSP are:
    • sceSysconPowerStandby(); //For shutting down
    • scePower_0442D852(50000); //For Reboot
  • The source code will be released soon
Just make sure you have Dark_Alex's 2.71 SE-C firmware installed as a few members from our forums have already found complications when installing this PRX on Custom Firmware 1.5. TUW is currently working on a 1.5 compatible version to be used soon.

Does This .PRX put your psp into Sleep mode or does it completly Shut it off?

   by TUW (Unregistered) - 2006-12-10
 » YES

100% safe as for 2.71 uses those functions that are included in post and it simply requests PSP to whether shut down or Reboot.....
and for 1.50 the shut down function is the same but for rebooting it does not reboot by hardware its just a simple function to reboot VSH ....

NOTE+WARRNING!--> You may not use this PRX in GAME!!its designed to be used in vsh! I'll e-mail the admin about that

Best,
TUW

Any flames would be appreciated !

 » ummm alright

hell yeah for effort man but if you could make a prx that automatically puts you back to the xmb that would be cool. NOT BASHING just saying im not lazy enough to move my thumb plus this way seems harder in the long run and could potentially be harmless. buuuuut for the sake of curiousity plus the fact that i have a broken psp (analog) im gonna give it a go

hahah i thought that it would work in game also and it kinda scared me cause flashing ram and this prx don't mix but its cool man glad it's only in the xmb and thanks u

   Re: X (Unregistered) - 2006-12-10
 » Hmm

I don't think it will work at all when the psp freezes. Could be wrong though. My psp doesn't freeze very often so I don't know.

 » very good application.

This is the type of application i have been trying to search!.. I mean there will be times when u need to enable/disable prx in recovery menu and this application allows you to easily do that without holding on to ur power button again and again! Great work! However, it would be good if he adds functionality like standby/sleep mode and 4th level brightness in the same prx. Just a suggestion =)

 » powere up

this might be a little out there...but would it be possiple to make a prx that turns on the psp without having to use the power switch? that would be great for me since my power switch doesn't work since i messed it up replacing my broken screen..now have to manually turn on with screw driver now that sucks
