3.03 OE-B Released - Movie Madness!

Dark_Alex has just released his newest revision of his custom firmware for the PSP, Revision B of 3.03 Open Edition (OE). Seems like Dark_Alex has been more concerned about the PSP consumers than Sony is, issuing tons of new firmware updates (only updatable on 3.03 OE which was made possible by using firmware 1.50), so be sure to give him a huge thanks! With full resolution support for MP4-AVC videos (previously limited on Sony firmwares), you can now enjoy all your videos at "DVD quality" like it was meant to be. Having used PMP Player (which supported 480x270 resolution), this update adds the functionality directly into this new update.

You'll have to have 3.03 OE-A already installed onto your PSP in order to update to OE-B. Installation is easy as pie, just drag the PSP folder (found within MS_Root of the download) to your PSP's root directory and run the update eboot from your PSP's game directory like any other OE update which will only take a short duration since it is only flashing a few files onto it, not the entire firmware. Here's the newest additions to the world's greatest PSP firmware (at the moment) -

Patched the firmware to allow decrypted mp4-AVC videos to play at 480x272 resolution.
pic0.png was not shown in psp isos. Fixed.
The speed functions were not dummied after setting the speed. This could cause the few games that set the cpu speed not to run at the selected speed in the recovery menu.
Changed the structure of the program to have more free ram in game mode.
sysmemp.prx removed, systemctrl.prx splitted into systemctrl.prx and vshctrl.prx
Docmaker also now allows for 1000 png (images) to be used rather than the previous 100

hate to sound like a noob but what folder do i put my videos in and what should they be named? I've tried the MP_ROOT stuff and the video folder in the psp folder so am i doin something wrong or what?

PotFarmer: Place your videos in MP_ROOT1MNV01

Each video must be named M4VXXXXX.MP4 where the X's represent any 5 digit number.

You can also include a .thm of the same name (E.G M4VXXXXX.thm) which contains the icon for the video.

ive tried that stuff already with the m4vxxxxx and the maqxxxxx in the other folder but it gives me this message that data type not supported on my psp. mabie im just encoding the video wrong or something. i used xvid4psp to encode it into a 480 by 272 mp4 avc file. i might try using another program and see if that works.

download a fw1.5 and put it in the /psp/game/recovery folder and name it eboot.pbp it a bit hard to get through coz u cant see any writing

you're suppose to rename the the 1.50 eboot.pbp to update.pbp, seeing as how there would be 2 eboot.pbp files in the same directory. the flash for recovery eboot program looks for the 1.5fw @ update.pbp and flashes it so that you'll have a 1.5 again.

Xvid4PSP should work just fine, I use it all the time to make amazing looking PMP files, now I'll just use it to make full res .mp4 files. Thanks to DA and Mathieulh and anyone else involved...still using 3.02 oe-b, guess I'm gonna have to make another leap now....thanks again guys, your hard work and dedication is truly appreciated.

Dark_Alex is the man....I was skeptical with the previous 2.71 OE updates, cause of the flashing and the posibility of bricking my PSP, but I just had to try 3.03 OE-A and everything works great, and now, OE-B...DA works fast. This guy is the man.

PS....i read through the other threads on how ISO and CSO dont need a UMD to run...i cant get this to work, i start the psp and i enable no UMD but all i get is a black screen, can anyone help me with this.

Hi! first of all u have to turn the psp off by holding power for 2secs! Now hold "rightshift" pressed at the same time u starta the psp. The recoverymode for 3.xx OE shall be open now. go to "Configuration" and take enabled on "Use NO-UMD" good luck!

What kinda problem?
If you mean saving over Hotshots 2, all you have to do when you create the game from an image is to change the game ID dax allready set that up in the new popstation so that shouldnt be a problem anymore.
