I went ahead and created a new settings file for 3GP Converter to allow 480x272 AVC conversions. This allows those who aren't tech-inclined to convert their videos for use with Dark_AleX's 3.03 OE-B firmware. Simply unzip the folder, run the program, choose your quality and convert. |

you guys you do know that you can use the ipod video setting for this right?
no I didn't, but thanks for the info. I thought the iPod had a lower resolution. :)
I hope it works with this settings, I was trying it yesterday with the settings provided in the 3.03OE-B readme, but the files were always corrupted on the PSP - on the PC the movie was playable...
Tried it. Didn't work.
I just copied these lines to the .ini
Are you sure you didn't miss anything there?
Where is the devices.ini file? Please be more clear!!
where do i put the MAQ43121.MP4, MAQ43121.THM files?
which folder??
folder name??
put it in ms0/mp_root/ and the anv folder(dont remember the exact name)
oh man... this is soooo much faster than pmp. thanks so much! works awesome!!!!
/MP_ROOT/100MNV01
Hey yall we need some OSX support for a video converter for the new 480x272 OE-B goodness!
Anyone help us out? Kai Cherry can you plz add this to your wonderful app iPSP next time? Can anyone else bust us out a free one?
PLZ PLZ PLZ dont make me boot into Windows or run Parallels I would love a native Universal Binary PSP converter to include a few bitrate settings fer me mac.
Thanks
Anyone else getting the above message when they go to play their newly converted MP4 files? I used the 3gp config file first to ensure it was using the 3.03OEB setting, plays fine on my PC but just comes up with the above on PSP. And yeap I've checked thrice that all settings are good and the folder they're in is correct. Just wanna know if anyone else is getting this or if it's just me/I've somehow missed something.
Should be in the '101ANV01' folder in MP_ROOT
Anything I convert is coming up as "Unsupported Data" on my PSP.
Umm i havent tried these yet but give it a shot try ms0:MQ_ROOT0MQV01 or dammit i forgot the other ones
Some awsome video quality there, i encoded naruto 134 and it has crystal sharp lines and test. no more ghosting too.
whast wrong, i can't watch my videos.. :(
hmm....its not working for me. like Tek i get always the same message "unsupported data"
hmm....its not working for me. like Tek i get always the same message "unsupported data"
hmm....its not working for me. like Tek i get always the same message "unsupported data"
Same here, not working for some reason?
» Wrong folder
Should be in the '101ANV01' folder in MP_ROOT
trust me i did it and it works
Yeah, with 101ANV01 it really works. I don't know why works with this folder... I thought it will work in Videos folder or 100MNV01 folder. Why with 101ANV01...
True. Works now, was in 100ANV01 folder...
that the generated mp4 and thm file have to go inside this folder: /mproot/101ANV01/
so dont stuff it inside your 'video' folder, but inside the '101ANV01' folder.
btw, after converting an episode of extras, the file is actually 10mb larger than the original....??
you sholad do this ms0:/VIDEO/*here* you can put the things needed for 101anv01 and 100mv01
the xvid4psp by winnydows should also support this...
HOW do i convert to this format using XVID4PSP ???
SOMEBODY PLEASE ANSWER !!
xvid4psp is indeed waay better than this, it has the ability to add a sharpen filter, so the full resolution actually looks good...
please somebody make a modified xvid4psp for this new format !!!
i converted a movie last night (syriana) it is in 16:9 aspect ratio. the original avi file was 700mb and it was a 2hr movie.
it took 3:40:00 to convert (i let it go over night) i used these settings: avc 480x272 512 kbps 2-pass. my resulting movie file size was only 598mb and it was crystal clear with no audio sync problems at all. this is awsome with my only complaint being that the aspect ratio in the resulting file is incorrect. when i did a home movie of my kids which was in 4:3 aspect ratio the resulting file was perfect. is there anyway i can modify the .ini file to support different aspect ratios? it would be great to be able to choose this very important setting so wide screen movies dont come out looking funny (stretched) i don't really understand how to modify the ini file but i'll try.
just press triangle when you play the video on the psp, than you go to screen mode and you select full screen, than you get fullscreen 16*9 on any video
i hope this helps, and this issue will probably be fixed in a couple of days...
On 3GP converter, what do 1 pass and 2 pass mean? They both seem to play, both are in stereo, WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!
2 pass is better quality
that is if you want to wait twice as long for the convertion ...
i dont like waiting that long !!
i just converted a 10 minute vide with a profile of 64k for video and 32k for audio, the video should be around 8 MB, but with this 3GP thing it is slightly over 30 MB, wich is outrageously big for this quality... its very strange that it does this, since i dont know how to encode them with any other program...
of course i know to push triangle and change the display settings... duh !!! i've had my psp since march of 2005
no but seriously, thanks for the suggestion but even when i change the display settings, it still looks stretched horizontally. i'm pretty sure that it will have the two black strips at top and bottom in order for it to look correctly but i rather watch my movies like that then watch them stretched out. i tried to modify the ini file but my movie still looked stretched. i'll just wait for other options to convert my videos to full psp resolution.
if xvid4psp gets updated, wich i hope will be soon,
there is an auto-crop function where you can make sure that there is no stretching of the video when converting to fullscreen...
PLEASE UPDATE XVID4PSP !!! a lot of people are waiting for this !!
Then choose "full screen" instead of "zoom"
How do You setup the program to Auto name the files.. Its just naming them the normal file name instead of MAQ43121 Thanks for the help!
it got already updated, i think.

Well, when I transfer the MP4s to my PSP, I noticed there is no VIDEO folder... so.. where do I put it? I made a VIDEO folder, but it didn't work...
Forget it... I found out what was wrong..
Ok I've put my vid in 101ANV01, and everything is where it's supposed to be, how the hell do I start the vid? Under Video on the psp it just says "There are no videos"
For all those who are getting no videos, make sure your MP_ROOT is on the root of you ms, not in the PSP folder and place the 101ANV01 folder inside MP_ROOT.
