3.10 OE-A custom firmware out and about

Quick results well appreciated. Dark_Alex has released (oh yes, you've got to love a jump in the tenths) 3.10 Open Edition Rev. A (OE-A), which means that our PSP users will have a very busy time with the download site after reading this. And as a first release, installation will have to be done the long way around, as a full installation using OEUPDMAKER and 310oeflasher.

Instructions are at the Readme, as well as the all-important checksum values that tell you whether the entire process came out right or... gulp, not. We encourage you to read the Readme. As always, the installation process has a small chance of bricking your PSPs, which is yet another good reason to read the Readme.

Finally, the changelog he provides, also known among us as "Reasons to be Grateful":

Change from 3.03 firmware to 3.10
4th level of brightness (aka battery eater) can now be selected also without ac adaptor.
Changes in hen core:

Static user elf's can now be executed in the 3.10 kernel. (this includes snes user version between other programs)

Tyranid's patch (added in 3.03 OE-C) consequences was not explained very well in the changelog of 3.03 OE-C:

For programmers: it allows kernel modules to have user imports, making kernel programming in 3.03/3.10 less strict.
For users: plugins and applications that worked in 2.71 SE, but not in OE, *may* now work in 3.03OE-C and 3.10 OE-A.

POPS-related important note:

The plugin to load 3.02 pops won't work anymore in 3.10 OE, due to some changes in pops modules structure (meaudio fused with popsman, idcanager/idmanager behaviour slightly changed). A new plugin for 3.10 could be written next week.

I just want to suggest that you create your own Data.Daxr. It's a simple process and will ensure a smaller chance of bricking your PSP.

I agree with Jamie M. You know there IS a reason DAX releases his firmwares with the update maker and not some pre-made DATA.DXAR file. If you have a TA-082/6 and you use a DATA.DXAR from another mobo it triples your chances to brick. It takes under 2 minutes to complete all steps. Just do it and be safe.

So this doesn't allow us to play PSX games?? If so, I'm not upgrading to this yet.

You can still play PSX games...
Just not with the 3.02 version PSX plugin (POPS)
You can just run it as usual with the built-in 3.10 POPS
If you didn't know what the 3.02 POPS plugin was, it doesn't really matter anyway.

Location Free player has been disabled, so unless you own one of those $500 proprietary blocks, there's no real loss. Location Free on the PSP is 100% USELESS if you don't own a Location Free set-top box (and I use the phrase "set-top" loosely, given how large it is)

there is a way to get locationfree to work. It involves using Flash agent to delete the extra languages to free up space on flash0 and flashing the locationfree files from 3.03 into 3.10 oe. I did it and it works. I found a walkthru on a forum somewhere but i forgot where it was sorry. google it.

Well actually, once you get the locationfree flashed back to your PSP, it'll be a lot easier to use it... you wont have to load devhook every time you want to use locationfree, plus locationfree will load a lot quicker because flash memory loads quicker than the memory stick (which is where you load devhook from)... Also, you don't need to waste space on your memory stick for devhook.

Dun flash any modified topmenu_plugins or opening_plugins to this new cfw....few semi-bricked reported over other websited.

If u encounter internet browser error while trying to connect to internet, just restore yr psp setting to default.

My personal favourite - ff7 is now more compatible. no more blicking of characters' name in command bar in the fighting scene.

MY personal best - volume adjustment in pops - Normal > +1 > +2

No, it didn't work in Dark Alex's previous custom firmwares, and it doesn't work in this version either. It would say so if he added it back in, but chances are he will never add it back in, as he needs the room for all of the other features in the custom firmware. Just use PimpSteamer instead, it basically does the same thing.

Im still running the latest version of Devhhok. Im running 3.01 firmware with it because I have not had areason to upgrade. All games so far work fine on 3.01 firmware. Im going to have to eventually upgrade to 3.10 OE-A. My question is since I have not yet played PS1 games on my PSP will this program do it by itself if I have a PS1 ISO or do I have to convert it with another program? Whats the deal? Someone please explain. Thanks

P.S. I have only been out of the game since December but I feel like Im so far behind on all the news.

you have to convert the ISO to an EBOOT. There is a lot of programs called popstation that does that for you on dl.qj.net

Then you put the game under x:/PSP/GAME/whatevergamename/

If you have a PS1 iso, you do have to convert it. The converter you need is called Popstation. Once you have the converted files on your psp, they will show up in the Game>>Memory Stick section.

Its a fresh install so you can install it from most FW with kernal. You are safe to install in In 3.03 OE

Thank god recovery mode still worked!

yea found that out 30 seconds after install. good thing i backed up my flash0 to my hd beforehand. my custom fonts and gameboots from 303 oec still work fine tho. and all the plugins (using custom firmware extender 1.2 and cwcheat)

yes you can because I went up from 3.03 OE-C just now to 3.10 OE-A. MAKE SURE you make your own dxar file because if you do then it is practically guaranteed to work
