The PSP OS will only identify any drive thats LESS than 4 Gigs.
Otherwise I'd rip out that useless UMD drive and find a way to stuff the Drive portion of my 60G Toshiba gigabeat in there and be done with it.
But alas, 4 is the limit, unless someone finds a way to re edit the .prx file and reflash it in to the F0
Don't ever think Worst Service will let you return anything. Their corporate philosophy is do anything to make more money especially screwing the customer. I will never shop at Worst Service again. Best Buy employees are ****s and they don't help you with anything other than a cheesy sales pitch to sell completely worthless extended warranties. Did I ask for an extended warranty? Then go away to your little room and reject more customer returns you annoying bastard! This hard drive is a ripoff, especially since memory cards keep getting cheaper.
i can conferm this. i work at best buy and we have about 4 of them. and yes $229
Good work spotting stuff, man...It seems best buy has picked up on selling almost every accesory for the PSP there is...I've witnessed it too at a local bestbuy store near my house...there's a catch though, everything is much more expensive when it's retail priced, so you're better off getting anything PSP from Lik-sang or someone else in the internet.
i thought 229 was the price it was supposed to be? in all honesty. being i work there i obviously will take advantage of my discount to get it. but to me.. 229 seems reasonable..being the 2 gig card is like 269
There at my local Best Buy too. My brother works there so I have a nice discount. (:

THIS 4GB IS CRAP! I bought it from BEST BUY 2 Weeks ago before this post. I accidently bump into it at BEST BUY, got really excited, pop it into my PSP. and first thing first, the battery is loose. I had to use a piece of newspaper to keep the battery from falling loose internal to the battery cover. Oh, the hard drive sucks. It takes like 5-7 second for your MP4 movies to load up. Your EBOOT files takes like 1-3 second to load in the GAME menu. If you back your files up onto your Windows, format the 4GB hard drive using the PSP, and then restore your back up onto the 4GB, most of your EBOOT WILL NOT WORK and some of your MP4 will get corrupted.
As a result of this, I returned it =/ Don't believe me?? try it out =)

Damn! Sounds very wack....Good job returning that *hit.
Well it is a hard DRIVE and not FLASH memory >.> thats something you expect. Ever see the flashlight mouse icon in windows when its looking thru folders? yea its the same thing.
Chances are I may get it just to try it out, I could use a new memory stick and would see this as an interesting alternative (provided that it works properly, of course). Worst case scenario, I find out that it does not work properly and return it.
Damn, I'm looking for another job, if they have it at my local Best Buy it might be worth it to go back to that hell job. The discount on accessories is awesome.
Hey, I dont know what Warner's problem with the 4gigger was, but I have one and I love it. The only problem is it takes a few more seconds to load into games, after that its great. I've watched several movies off of it already, and it has the same problem that all movies do on firmware 1.5 when after like 25 minutes the audio gets off track of the video by like a couple milliseconds, but just hit O and then go back to the video and its fine...the only drawback I would say is it gets really hot, and its kind of scary, you think its going to melt or something...lol, but it never has. Over all though I really love it and if not spoiled by my duo stick I had previously I would not know the difference!
Is it true that you can change out the hard drive with a bigger one or a flash card?
there coming up with a 3 gig on but i dont know if its a memory card or a hard drive
That's a nice pic for a camera phone! ^_^
OMG who gives a rats ass who had information first. If your reading that many damn psp sites may I suggest you get rid of all but one. That way when you read the news section it's all nice and fresh info. I only come to pspupdates for my psp news so there's always new things to read.
Besides if your complaining about it so much why the hell are you posting here. go back to psp3d since you love it.
wow, this info is old, my BB was selling these for the past 3 weeks.
wow... if it really suckjs so bad then it shouldn't be almost as much as the psp unit itself.... they should definetely drop the price on it i think it will fail unless they fix that battery thing, make it faster, and fix that corrupted data thing mentioned earlier =p.
Did you try another FASTER Compact Flash card! Before you do any so called "testing" get your all your fact right and test all ways before you post a warning. So Don't waste mine and any one elses. :-)
i can confirm it. look http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=category&id=pcmcat54200050027

I bought mine at BB quite a while ago. You can swap them out with a CF but they only read a 4gig card. I tried an 80x 1gig CF and I didn't notice much of a diference in load time. Though I wasn't sitting there testing the movies for much time to see if they fall out of synch.
The battery hasn't given me any problems as far as staying in place. The person who had issues with that may have gotten a battery cover that may have meen missformed.
The size and shape of it overall is a bit bulky but it doesn't make your hands fall asleep as fast as the "naked" PSP did. And it also acts as a stand for watching movies.
