Sandisk

For the guys who'd love to get their hands on the SanDisk 4GB Memory Stick released a couple of months ago but couldn't exactly afford the intimidating $ 220 price tag slapped on it, we bring good tidings for this season. QJ reader TOY (gracias for the tip, dude!) just told us that buy.com's now selling the sticks on their site for a slim $ 90 - way less than half the initial release price.

And if you'll take a closer look at the image we posted, you'll see that over at Google Checkout, the stick sells for $ 70 - just a third of the original retail price mentioned earlier. 'Tis the season to be jolly for the PSP owners out there, and we're hoping they still got stock.

 » 4Gb for 2.80

I heard that the 4Gb are only supported by FW 2.8 or higher. Is this true?

   Re: Seventoes (Unregistered) - 2006-11-28
 » nope

Nope, thats not true. 1.0 can use 4GB. 4GB is the biggest memory stick any firmware supports right now.
   by maedox (Unregistered) - 2006-11-28
 » this is wrong

There seems to be an error on the page, because in the checkout it says that the price after rebate is 89,94, and not 69,94 as the google checkout "ad" says.

   by LiraNuna (Unregistered) - 2006-11-28
 » 2.8

4GB is FAT's limit. 8GB is for 2.8 and up.

 » after rebates

 » EXCELLENTE!!

I just brought one last week for $129 on Amazon.com (there WAS one for $108 bucks, but I didn't trust it for some reason.)

Works like a charm, baby! ^_^

 » Don't forget eBay!!

For those who are willing to take the less "genuine" plunge I snagged one from eBay for about $48 total (including shipping) not to long ago. And yes it was 4gb.

   Re: nuno (Unregistered) - 2006-11-28
 » ebay.de

you now have a buy now seller on german ebay with 2GB sticks for 33 euros and 80 euros for a 4GB stick shipping included
   by jockthe*****ofthewalk - 2006-11-28
» i get the same as LiraNuna

once you go through the process it shows a price of $89.94 instead of $69.94 and that including the $20 rebate so why on earth would you buy it from the google checkout rather than buy . com as your paying the same

 » Buy.com price

If you read about the google checkout discount, it will tell you discount won't show on sellers website or e-mail. Don't worry though I've bought several things with teh google $10 of $30 deals. Google applies the discount. Also $69 price is AFTER additional mail in rebate. WOOT I can't spell.
   by Chameleon (Unregistered) - 2006-11-28
 » $90, not $70

The card costs AFTER the google checkout.. not as stated in this post.

Qty Item Price
1 SanDisk 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo $109.94

Tax : --

1 Google Checkout & Buy.com Holiday Bonus - $20 off orders over $50 (Bonus may not appear on Buy.com's emails.) -$20.00
Subtotal: $89.94

And one thing.. does it mean that I only pay $90, or do I have to pay $110 and then get $20 back..?

   by uberzone (Unregistered) - 2006-11-28
 » No

You're paying $89.99 out of pocket which includes the $20 dollars off using Google Checkout. Then you can mail away for another $20 dollar rebate which will bring the total to $69.99 after everything is said and done.

Re: knew it (Unregistered) - 2006-11-28
 » knew it

I knew there was a catch.
I think I will order from newegg

   Re: ... (Unregistered) - 2006-11-28
 » How is

that a catch? You're still only paying $69.99 in the end. If you a person with any brains at all, you can figure out how to send a rebate in.

   Re: no (Unregistered) - 2006-11-28
 » no

Yeah I know how to send a rebate in but rebates suck and take forever if they are ever returned.
There kind of more trouble then their worth.

» I got my 2 days too soon

I just bought one of these on Sunday and I got it for 89.94 using the Google checkout discount. I should have waited a couple days to get the mail in rebate with it. Oh well.

it's all good man.. even though you didn't get in the rebate.. you can still avail for the sandisk %10 rebate here is the link (do it quick.. it expires on 2006) http://ebm.sandisk-dm.com/c/tag/hBExoZgAajgk5AipT4BAPvduK7z/doc.html

 »  Nice...

I don't know about location and if it matters from store to store, but I know that the Target stores around here are selling their 2 GB San Disck mem sticks for a little over $39 until the 1st of December. And yah, I know it's not 4 GB, but it's STILL a good deal considering Wal-Mart's selling their 512 MB's for 50 some bucks :P Just thought I'd let y'all know just in case 70 bucks is still too much to pay ;-) I imagine you could even order the Target website, haven't looked yet.

 » Yay

"I knew there was a catch.
I think I will order from newegg "

I don't know how you call it a catch. A rebate is a rebate and if you use Google Checkout the total comes out to with free shipping available. The same stick will cost you 0 plus shipping from NewEgg. Personally I like saving on the same item. Even if it will take ~2 months to get the last .

Anyway, thanks for posting this. I ordered one earlier this morning.

I mean, it's still SUPER GOOD especially with the unholy prices going for these, on E-Bay and other store sites! This is freakin AWESOME! Still only bout $90.00 bucks with shipping included, not $220.00!

it'd be nice to have a 4gb stick but this is hardly a deal when you can pick up the 2gb duo pros for under $20 after rebate:

http://shop4.outpost.com/product/4442836?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

$14.99 after rebate. this was up all day yesterday but finally sold out. i bought an extra one to go along with my other 2gb and 1gb

There's a rebate offered by San Disk, let me see if I can find it really quick.

Here it is: http://ebm.sandisk-dm.com/c/tag/hBExoZgAajgk5AipT4BAPvduK7z/doc.html
