7-Eleven gets in the game - Image 1Now they're truly your one-stop shop. 7-Eleven, the 24-hour convenience store, has announced that they are dipping into the gaming business by selling games in their branches.

And we're not just talking about scratch-and-win-a-prize kind of games here. We're talking hardcore platform games. Don't believe us? Here's the list of their "AAA" Video Games to be stocked on their shelves for the holidays:
Prices for these games are tagged at SRPs of US$ 59.99 for the Xbox 360 and PS3, US$ 49.99 for the Wii, and US$ 39.99 for the PS2

Actually, these titles are available this holidays, but them selling video games is an all-year round business. Says Michael Jester, 7-Eleven category manager for gaming and electronics,

This is not just a holiday promotion for us, but a brand new product line-up that will be available year-round. We may not be a total entertainment destination... yet, but we're hoping to expand our selection beyond the high-dollar, hot-selling games to include options for all budgets, like value-priced video games as well as DVD movies. For consumers wanting convenient one-stop shopping for at-home entertainment along with groceries and gas or who just want to avoid big-store shopping inconveniences, their local 7-Eleven is open and ready.

And they've got something for MMO gamers, too. They'll also be offering a broad selection of online game gift cards for your virtual needs Their card line-up includes the following: Nexon, Habbo, Gaia, Guild Wars, gPotato, Runescape, Aeria, City of Heroes, Exteel, ijji, IMVU, Neopets and Sim2 prepaid game cards for denominations of US$ 10 and US$ 25.

They even have prepaid cards for the Sony PSN and Xbox 360 XBL. Talk about well-rounded line-up, eh? That's 7-Eleven, 24/7, 365 for you.

This really isn't news, the 7-11 down the street from my apartment has been selling games for the past few months. They started around the time burning crusade came out.

This may be old news to you but many people (including me) never knew this. So, it's actually very good news. Thanks QJ!

 » Yea

This is news to me. There's 3 or 4 7-11's i go to regularly and none of them sell games. It would be absurdly convenient as one of them is less than a block away.

 » Yup

This is old news, they also always broke the street date for gears 2 and fallout 3

They also broke the street date for Lich King.

And I wouldn't be surprised if they broke more street dates for other games to come. They seem to already have a bad record of it. :-p

I think some branches have started selling games earlier than most. Perhaps, what's been going on for the past couple of weeks/months in other branches was simply a test-run by management. Now, they're formalizing it via press release. That's the news. ;-)

 » Returns

Do they even offer a return policy? I only ask because most of their goods that they offer are consumed, and wouldn't need to be returned. Unless you're using their restroom.

Nexon and 7/11 started dating some time back. I guess Nexon's given it all up to 7/11 because you can get free CDs with Mabinogi, Maplestory, and Combat Arms at 7/11 as well as slurpee cups with Nexon prize codes on them. Like I told my wife: Nexon must suck some good ***** because 7/11 can't get enough. ;)
