great
7z can REALLY compress files - ive seen 2GB archives down to 400mbish.
Hopefully we'll see this encourprated into some emulators.
This would be great to use with snes and n64 roms with many different versions of the same thing.
That would be heaven!
Save all the memory stick space :)
Definitely Loyx. I get my roms in 7z format anyway, and each game comes bundled with every version (and hack/mod) of the particular game. This would be a great plugin for the snes emulator, as it would save space and annoying scrolling.

What 7z compressing when you talk about the 2GB down to 400MB? text? Mp3s? There´s a big difference when you talk about different material.
And, if this is so good, then DevHook should have this instead of CISO.. CISO does worse job compressing than DaxIso does.. Boo. :)
Why? DAXISO is slow to decompress on the fly making a lot of games stutter even at 333 and/or load time can be longer.
7zip(and I believe DAX is absed of this format) has one of the longest compression/decompression times in existance. It compresses better than RAR, but not by enough for the sometimes insane decompress times.
Great stuff, I can now package the CheatDevice with my Pimp My Garage homebrew and install it if required all on the PSP...
Congratulations on a really straight forward and easy to use example... Great job...
Yes this would be great for the emulators.

ya emulators, cc sure knows his rom database sizes, perhaps he could share a link to these rom collections.
Rar is not the largest either. Zip, cab, and .tar.gz are MUCH, MUCH more used than RAR, and especially 7zip.
I'd probably put 7zip at #15th most popular, and rar on a little better.
yo
is it just me, but the icon0 of this file is the same as the sony updater right?
re4ryu
hey liquidtenmillion we're not saying 7zip is the most popular u div, we're saying it has the best compression ratios.
hey cz, 7zip compressing 1mb of text w/the ppmd algorithm cuts it to about 700kb
1mb of mp3s cut down w/7z would be 200kb.
etc
Go mph and igor pavlov!! and long live free open source 7zip and scrap shareware rar!!
i must have read this wrong but
isn't the GTA loader by fanjita??? based on work by edison carter???
how are we going to be able to use this .7z then?
Because its not likely you can .7z iso's because certain games like outrun already have lag when decompressing ciso!

Just what #14 said -- .tgz can be half the size of a .zip so it's not all that great. Linux pwns all.
