TA-086

For weeks now, we've been following the developments concerning the TA-086. So far, the closest we got was giving you snapshots after snapshots of the alleged new PSP motherboard. Today, we came across a few details regarding the matter over at 0okm's site. He's no stranger to the scene as the homebrew developer has been constantly providing us with quality releases.

TA-086 - Image 1 TA-086 - Image 2

Well, it seems that 0okm has been following and paying the matter attention as well. As much as he is concerned, it seems that everything has been confirmed already as his post regarding the matter bears the title: "PSP New Ver. Hardware TA-086 from PSP1000CW [L]." We'd have to see to that over the following weeks or days. We would also be waiting for any official statements and immediately share them with you. In the mean time, please take some moment to analyse the implications of the following details, especially the last two entries:
  • PCB Ver. : TA-086
  • CPU Core : CXD2967GG
  • Media Engine : CXD5026-203GG
  • MCP : K5E5658ACM-D060 1.8V/1.8V
Test report :
  • Factory FW2.81 (BoxCode L)
  • can HardDown to FW1.50
  • and run official FW2.71 UpDate EBOOT.PBP

So is HardDown 0okm's discontinued service?
or was that SoftDown?
if HardDown is the normal downgrade, then we'll all be able to DG normally then eh?

and why has Sony changed their hackproof mobo?
are they adding more ram for firmware 4.0 apps?
or are they planning to allow homebrew? ;)

wow, first (unless someone posted while I'm typing)

is not the normal downgrade it involves using 0okms custom modchip which he built himself so you cant buy it. I doubt they will add more ram

can HardDown to FW1.50
and run official FW2.71 UpDate EBOOT.PBP

which mean this thing can be downgraded using normal downgrade method like TA-079 & TA-081. Woo hoo ! But wat does it mean by running official 2.71 Uodate EBOOT.pbp ? does it mean fw2.81 in TA-086 can be downfraded to fw2.71 & den downgraded further to 1.50 & upgrade back to 2.71 SE-B" ?

"But wat does it mean by running official 2.71 Uodate EBOOT.pbp ?"

That means it doesn't reject the 2.71 bootstrap... or something like that. 2.71 being the new 'hacked' firmware it is reasonable to think that SONY might want to put some hardware restrictions to install this fw... but it doesn't seem that is the case.

When GTA:LCS was released for the PSP, hardware sales actually went down for that month. THEY WENT DOWN.

The same thing appears to be happening with GTA:VCS. Our bosses in the retail world are starting to call it the GTA curse. Any portable GTA is automatically doomed from the start.

Making matter worse is how GTA:VCS is a bug filled mess. I've never seen so many problems in one portable title. From uneven difficulty, to a major pop in problems, to serious cases of slowdown, music skipping, freezing, it never ends. This game is garbage and I'm sure most of you know by now that I'm telling the truth.

»  I know why the DS is better than the PSP (or at least one reason)

I was just comparing various message boards for the DS and PSP looking for ideas on games to give as gifts this holiday season. Once every 4th topic on the DS boards it comments on how good games are and what games you should buy, but here on the PSP boards everyone is trying to figure out how to mess with their PSP in a cheap attempt to turn it into a PC. So many people are asking the same questions just using different words but every subject is the same. How do i play ripped off games, steal music, downgrade, or rip DVDs to my duo card. Sony had a good chance to take a little ground on the portable market but if they dont lower the price of both UMD movies and games (not to mention getting better games that everyone wants to play) it is doomed.

People buy the DS to play games and others buy the PSP cause they can't afford a laptop.
(now before you flame me i have a laptop and a psp, i just found this hilarious)

Long long time ago I owned a C64. Many of my friends did also. And everybody had lots of illegal copied games, but the C64 was the best selling computer ever. After that I bought an Commodore Amiga, same story about the illegal software and same story about the amout of sold Amiga computers. So history tells us that the more illegal software is available, the better a computer sells ;-)
The story that illegal software is bad for a system is ehhmmm....sh*t

The reason we "mess" with our PSP's is because it has way more options to "mess" with. DS is for simple people who can only play games and PSP is for smart people who wants to do more with it than only playing games, so simple is it.

And I don't know about you, but my laptop doesn't fit in my pocket and sitting somewhere with a PSP in my hands is way better than sitting somewhere with my laptop on my knies. Tried playing a good game on a PDA yet? It also s*cks.

And yes, your comment was indd hilarious :-)

 » Envious Much?

Comparing the majority of people who own a psp to the majority who own a DS and you'll find even those ten year olds playing Ranger are more competent then the psp users. And sure, while illegal software DOES push more systems, it also DOES hurt game devs.

if psp users are for "smart people who wants to do more than just play games" how in *****s name can you can explain "how i do play hombr3w on 2.81???????!!!?1111" ***** thats everywhere?

and umm just so you know its take smarter people to run homebrew on a ds (not to dev for it just run it its easy to drag and drop to a memory card you need to save your game)

PSP is for smart people... People when they get there psp dont know suddenly how to put music games and homebrew on there psp... Its called Learning... Thats the basis you learn to get Smart...With the DS there is no learning for it... it is just for simple people who wish not learn and make there DS The way it was intended for..

It takes more reading to put homebrew on a DS. PSP is the easiest thing you will come across, really.

   Re: Jin (Unregistered) - 2006-11-15
» Here is something that always makes me laugh..

When people talk about the PSP games compared to the DS games...
Not only is the PSP obviously a graphic power house compared to the DS, but the best rated games for the DS are...
Mario Kart DS
Yoshi's island DS
New Super Mario Bros
Nintendogs: Dalmation and Friends
Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis

Okay, PSP's are...
Tekken: Dark Resurrection
Daxter
Burnout Legends
Both Grand Theft Autos
Syphon Filter
...you get it. The point is, a lot of DS owners only talk about how great the DS's games are compared to the PSP, when in fact it boils down to are you into Mario.. or Grand Theft Auto kind of games? I mean Mario can only do so damn much before he gets boring. By the sounds of those games.. I'd much rather have the graphics. Then you bring up the price.. once again, I'd rather pay a little more and get a lot more, than pay less.. and get exactly that. I'm not even going to go into the other media functions since this was just based off of games.

   Re: yea? (Unregistered) - 2006-11-15
 » well

OoZic, it depends on what illegal software your using, ISO can't be good for PSP, and by the way, the more you people buy PSP the more money Sony looses, and the less you buy PSP games, the less Sony will make, and if sony is uncomfortable, we won't be much better off. You said the C64 was the best selling computer, your trying to say "PSP will be the best selling system, not it's games" sony lives on the games, not the system itself.

I'm still wondering why the psp has a IR port xD

   Re: ocelot (Unregistered) - 2006-11-15
 » here: :)

So that homebrew devs can take advantage of it. Sony predicted that someone would like to use his/her psp as a remote, so they installed one, but didnt bother to code the drivers, and/or assign some kind of function to it, so that people would have to buy their products and find out how to do it. Through this course, love was intended to come (along with addiction-for the machine, that is), but eventually, death (ta-082->6)... through isos...
So if you want your son/daughter to play with some PSP X (x stands for 2,3,4,etc), quit messing around with isos and get on with IR hacking...

man, that's a totally messed up reply :)

   Re: juju (Unregistered) - 2006-11-15
 » lol

yeh me too, it seems very pointless seeing as there is wireless, maybe putting bluetooth on it would have been more worth it so you could interact with more devices (like mobile phones!!)
IR seems to be an outdated technology now, unless your using it to contol your TV sound system

   Re: yea? (Unregistered) - 2006-11-15
 » agreed

Ocelot I agree with you, maybe the reason you have low stars is because there are TOO many uneducated lowlifes that abuse the use of ISO, they didn't do anything to deserve ISO, I think atleast hackers took their time hacking the software and enable ISO, but public ISO will also affect the hackers themselves eventurally, and THATS where they made a mistake, if I ever find out how to run ISO on ... lets say X360 or PS3, I wouldn't share it to too many people, too much ISO usage kills...

 » well...

I've had my DS for 2 years.
I've had my PSP for 1.

I've bought altogether 6 games for my DS, and none of them lived up to the enormous hype of what everyone was putting on them. They were all simple and to be frank, patronising as well. They were mostly so immature in the style of play that really, there was nothing encouraging me to buy more for it.

The DS is just fake innovation. The Wii, yes, is true innovation, but the DS isn't, and never will be. Neither is the PSP, but at least with that I can play some reasonably interesting games that aren't listed as "the next big thing" on every single website that talks about it.

Also, why the hell do so many DS fanboys come running to the >>PSP

   Re: Techni (Unregistered) - 2006-11-15

I too have a DS and a PSP, and find DS games seem to tech demoish. Like they were purposely crippled for a handheld. Where PSP games seem more fully fleshed out like console games
   by manaox2 (Unregistered) - 2006-11-15
 » lol

I would rather control IR devices than interact with my phone via psp. They have internet services if I wanted to text message.

PSP isn't for smart people, and people who play DS aren't necessarily smarter, but I think that most people with common sense feel disappointed that I even have to say this.

PSP does have more capabilities for being a portable entertainment system/device and DS obviously has more gaming aspects currently. I won't lie. I bought my first psp almost solely for homebrew a year ago. No use arguing to me, I feel bad if you own a psp and don't use it for any homebrew, but just for the games. I would have bought the DS if I was going to play games instead of watching movies, browsing the internet, listening to my streaming radio and podcasts, and listen to music while reading my newest ebook. It's a completely different device for me and can't even be brought into competition with the DS.

same reason i bought my psp. the hilarious thing is that i bought it for homebrew, it came with 1.52, i didnt know about the 2.0-1.50 downgrader, so i updated to 2.60 (before downgrader and gta), then i went to 2.80. lol sad. oh and by the way, *big dramatic pause*

 » sony haters

It seems very strange to me that there are so many Sony haters on a Sony dedicated site. Do you people really have so little to do that you have the spare time to come here and trash Sony? If you bought a PSP and don't like it, why keep using it and complaining about it? SELL IT and get something else, otherwise you have nothing to blame but your own stupidity. If you bought a PSP and wish it could do more, learn to program and do something about it instead of complaining about it. If you own a DS and trash the PSP you either wish you had a PSP instead of a DS and are trying to convince yourself how cool your DS is, have way too much time on your hands (otherwise you wouldn't be here), or you're a ten-year-old fanboy; otherwise you would have something either positive or constructive to add to the conversation. As far as the intelligence level of owners of either console, and the "how do you run brew on X.XX"; the world is full of stupid people and I'm fairly certain that the DS 'brew community get their fair share of stupid people asking stupid questions, though I don't spend my time looking for that kinda stuff for a console I don't own and don't care about. So, please, If you have nothing positive or constructive or relevant to say, STFU BECAUSE WE'RE ALL SICK OF HEARING ABOUT IT, and that goes for "first" posters too.
