By now a lot of you have seen the shots of the new PSP Go in the Qore video I posted a while back. The video didn't really give us a great look at the new PSP model, however, so here are some better-looking press photos of the PSP Go courtesy of Eurogamer.

It actually doesn't seem that fugly anymore. If you look closely, you'll notice that it also has Bluetooth. It still looks like a black mylo though, and the placement of the analog stick concerns me a bit. Playing games like Monster Hunter, with its cumbersome camera control setup, is gonna be hard on this thing.

 » Awesome

That is a cool design! Wait is there a second analog stick?

   Re: fearlubu - 2009-05-30
» the 2nd analong isnt needed...

i know, it hurts...but if they put in the 2nd A stick, then they'll leave the 3000 behind

anyways, its not too bad, but there are some annoying ass flaws to it:

but it has a few very annoying little things to it:

1. i hate how sony makes the face buttons too small (reminisces about the keypad)
2. the start/select thing looks totally stupid
3. could of had a better placement for the PS button (in the top middle of the bottom half)
4. they could of easily hid the screws at the back.....

but thats just me

   Re: SolidSnake117 - 2009-05-30
 » DuDe!!!

i bet the modders will take out the start and select buttons and move them, then add another analog stick that connects to the XO[]^ buttons. LOL!!!

   Re: Vman00 - 2009-05-30
 » @ SolidSnake117

if they do that, they would someone start./select things?

and my 2 cents. proprietary serial port + gay
hope it works with existing walkman cords

   Re: kheaven - 2009-05-31
 » Stupid or Real.

I still believe that these could be fake pictures because using two key examples.
Not only does this PSP Go! not have an analog stick to efficiently play games that have already come out, but there seems have no UMD for games that have already been bought, making anything obselete that came before the PSP Go other than Patapon 2.
Now about the second analog stick. If they have a second analog stick and games that use the second analog stick, what will previous PSP owners with older versions of the PSP use?
If this is the true design of the PSP Go! then Sony hadn't taken any kind of account for other PSP owners other than the ones buying the PSP Go!

It woulnd't make much sense to create PSP Go only games. Or do you have a sugestion on how to control games on a normal PSP that rely on a second stick?

 » ...

^ So Its not psp2, just a new look psp?

   Re: triac - 2009-05-30
 » .

Basically yes.
But it's not a step forward like from 2000 to 3000. It's more like a step to the side. Parallel to the 3000.

   Re: Matt91 - 2009-05-30
 » ...

"Or do you have a sugestion on how to control games on a normal PSP that rely on a second stick?"

i do actually. Sony could just make it so the analog stick could mirror the x, o, triangle, and square buttons if moved in the same direction as the actual buttons. That way you could use either for old psp games and then new ones could make use of both the 2nd analog and buttons.

   Re: Miclowgunman - 2009-05-30
 » @ triac

"It wouldn't make much sense to create PSP Go only games"...i find this phrase funny because they are making DSi only games. I agree with matt91 on the control concept. make it mimic the pressing of the buttons for old games, but also make it capable of being programed as a normal second analog for future games. Then future FPS ames could have a "Go mode" where you could get more control with a second analog, or just use an old psp and use the buttons for cluncky movement. Again just wishful thinking because we already know that it won't have one.

   Re: triac - 2009-05-31
 » .

"Sony could just make it so the analog stick could mirror the x, o, triangle, and square buttons if moved in the same direction as the actual buttons"

Then you would only use the second stick for better controls in shooter games.
You idea doesn't work if the game needs two Sticks and the 4 buttons.

".i find this phrase funny because they are making DSi only games."
Well, the DS(i) is selling a little bit better and has some more significant changes like camers and a faster CPU. While the PSP Go would have only had the second stick as feature that could be used in games.

   Re: sage3k - 2009-05-31

I had high hopes for this... and now it's just a DSI update of the PSP.

 » Oh poor sony

sRRY Sony, but that looks like crap kind of.
Love the 16gb internal memory and that'd be the real only reason i'd buy this. one of the first pictures shown before this stuff was the concept artists renditions. and out of those the one that was more squared off looked alot better..
but just as matt said
it should'v had a second analog stick placed somewhere.
no reason for me to waste my money....my psp i currently have ( a 3001) is now homebrew capaible so it works jsut as good

 » Not gonna happen

Sony were and still are a game selling company, the majority of PSP users don't use it for the internet and in fact don't have the internet. Thus it will not sell, besides it looks awfull compared to the PSP's so far, the PSP 2000/3000 looked ok, the horrible feel of them let them down a bit the PSP Phat had the right texture, sure it was overwieght but that reaches to the fat audience. It is rather crap, and in the video on the other post about this it say's dev's will have a chance, no they won't sony make there money through games, thats why they try so hard to stop CF. I love the PSP but if this is it's fate i'm not buying one, i honestly don't see Sony selling this.

   Re: FelisCatusLover - 2009-05-30
 » ...

Of course people don't use it for internet, it's got one of the worst browsers in history! Sony needs to do more and stop being just a game company, since all the games for the PSP suck anyway. Look at what Apple is doing, great games AND great apps. Thats what Sony needs to do.

"Playing games like Monster Hunter, with its cumbersome camera control setup, is gonna be hard on this thing"

Point of fact, the camera controls in MH are NOT cumbersome. More games should emulate them, since they are nearly perfect.

PSP Go! is a stupid, ugly design, and an utter disappointment.

Re: Karl B. (QJ. NET Staff) - 2009-05-30
 » Not really a fact.

That's an opinion. As for my opinion, well, I've gotten used to the camera controls in MH (I better have, since I've logged over 300 hours in Freedom 2 alone T_T), but it does take some getting used to.

   Re: ptspyder - 2009-05-30
 » I guess thats fair...

to say its an opinion. Ive spent enough time with them that they are second nature.

I do agree with the point he is trying to make, that playing MH would be much more difficult on this style of PSP.

I was in the market to get a new PSP that I can use for legit stuff like remote play, and using my OLD 1.10 for homebrew and such...

I will have to try this first, but if it's cheaper this may do it. I am really disappointed that it closes like this but there are no face buttons. What is the point of having such a small form factor if you still have to open it to switch songs etc....unless they make a better remote for it on the headphones.

Anyways it will fit in pockets better, and if it's cheaper I may get it......

"can't play games you already own"

The fuuck you talking about? This isn't the PSP2 you fuucktard.

"Is there a mic? The headphone input shouts a big NO."

How do you know that there isn't a mic? Look at the iPhone, the headphone jack has a mic input. The PSP Go headphone input even has a picture of a mic. Jesus, how dumb can you be?

"no TV out"

Who told you this? Look at that Serial Port. It can do TV-Out.

"No 2nd analog stick"

There would be no point for this. Again, this isn't the PSP2 so what would you do with that 2nd analog stick for all your PSP games.

Fuuck, you have to be the dumbest motherfuucker ever.

   Re: crait - 2009-05-30
 » @Speed

Wow, um.... Where am I going to put my Tony Hawk Underground 2 Remix UMD in? I won't be able to, you idiot. I have to download and pay for it again.
And you'd have to buy new TV out cables and a new headset for it- *****. How much of an idiot are you?
And haven't you ever seen the mods where people make a second analog stick that is just another Cross, Triangle, Square, Circle button. Why couldn't Sony do that? I'm not the one wanting a second one but other people won't buy it just because of that. If they did it, there wouldn't be a way for developers to make games only for the PSP Go.
And you're calling me dumb? Haha. That's why I develop games for the PSP and you're probably a fatass that sits behind a desk all day playing WoW.

   Re: Shatterdome - 2009-06-01
 » Well...

As far as the Mic goes, look between the nub and start/select...there is a mic built in, which is nice.

Also if you own UMD games, you own a PSP already...so play them on that. This is obviously for new buyers, or ppl that don't care aboute their old UMDs.....like me.

I need a newer smaller PSP and with more memory, so i'll be glad to buy this.

They already have lot's of PSP games on PSN and i'm sure tons more will come.

I'm not sure how Sony would be able to rip UMD's unless they make a USB UMD driver that you have to use through your PS3 or something....

   Re: crait - 2009-06-01
 » A few questions...

Who would buy this if they're supposed to use their old PSP?
Why would you want this if you own an older PSP already? You'd have to rebuy your games too.
And what you're calling a mic just looks like a clicker or latch for whenever you slide the face closed.

   Re: Shatterdome - 2009-06-01
 » ....

That is definately a mic, why would they have built in mics on psp-3000's but not this one?

I have a launch PSP, that is fat and beat up from years of use. I don't mind giving up the few games I have to upgrade to a better screen, smaller/lighter system, onboard memory and what seems to be better speakers as well....also I don't play the games much, usually use it for music and movies.

Also, who knows, if they put all original PSP games up for downoad, maybe sony will allow you to download them for free if you register your original copies UPC code or something...

The big question is how much if any cheaper this will be.....

Dude, this isn't the PSP-4000. This is an alternate option to the PSP-3000. You trade the UMD slot for a much more portable size and a little extra functionality (Bluetooth).

Does anyone else realize that this is just their way of combining the PSP and the less-than-stellar Sony Mylo device? It has almost the exact same shape, but a much more reasonable size. I liked that the Mylo had a keyboard, but I can understand that it wouldn't fit here.
