ATVIThere certainly seems to be no loss of opportunities to play those classics games from yesterday (see EA Replay, Capcom Classic Collection Remixed, etc.), so now Activision got into the act by announcing Activision Hits Remixed. The game allows players to relive the glory days of Atari 2600 through over 40 of its biggest titles (more than any other compilation available today!) including Pitfall, Kaboom!, Chopper Command, Stampede, Keystone Kapers, River Raid, Demon Attack, and Laser Blast - just to name a few.

Activision Hits Remixed also includes WiFi Multiplayer, including a 'Game Share' feature that allows two PSPs to play together using just one copy of the game, a killer soundtrack from the 80's featuring songs 'Tainted Love' and 'We're Not Gonna Take It' and the ability to unlock timeless Atari 2600 TV ads, patches, and original game manuals.

Activision Hits Remixed is slated for a Fall 2006 release, carrying a RRP of US$19.99

Isn't there an Atari 2600 emulator on the PSP? If there is, this is pointless.

 » Stella

Yep, looks like there are a couple of Stella builds for the PSP. I only knew about the first one, and then found the other before I posted this.

Source is available for the second one. Haven't tried it yet though, so I'm not sure how it performs. The one at dcemu is plenty fast and works fine.

At $20 I'd still buy the Activision one if it has anything else cool besides the games. You know, historical stuff, unlockable things, etc. It sounds like they plan to have something like that. The wifi multiplayer would be great too, for certain games. But Stella will always be there for the games they leave out. :)

 » If Activision is smart...

... which they probably aren't, but

suppose Activision was smart, they'd include the original ROM dumps on this disc for use with emulators and license them to the end user to run on emulators on the owner's PSP. Remixed/reprogrammed games are like those connect-the-joystick-directly-to-your-TV things. An updated port of Stella 2.x (stella.sourceforge.net) to the PSP and official licensed ROMs would be fantastic!!

I swear man, I don't know wny does classic game get ported. They aren't even fun in the first place. That's not to mention poor graphic.

I hope that they produce lot of these stupid classic game. So that they will take a huge loss. And never to pull somthing like this again.

PSPVECX 1.01 - The Vectrex Emulator for PSP
http://pspupdates.qj.net/index.php?pg=49&aid=8869

Unfortunately it only loads the built-in rom Mindstorm. There has has been like 30 released updates for snestyl, dgen, neogeo emus and only 1 or 2 updates on the Atari 2600 and Vectrex emus.. where's the love for the classic systems?

Oh well. Maybe someday they will be updated. At least they were started.

Here are some classic eboot modifcations for your emulators:
