Alone in the Dark 5: Near Death also confirmed for Wii, DS, PSP

The rumor has been confirmed, it seems. Alone in the Dark 5: Near Death is going to come out on all current platforms, namely the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 (yes, it still qualifies as a current platform), Xbox 360, PC, Wii, as well as the PSP and DS.

Atari has added that the DS and PSP versions will be closely based on its console siblings and will have extra 'functionalities'. The PSP version of the game, for instance, can be linked to a PlayStation 3 running a copy of the same game and can even display a realtime map while you're playing Alone in the Dark in your PS3. Receiving text-messages from Alone in the Dark characters in your PSP is a nice touch, too.

There is no available information on the special features for the DS as of this moment. Atari did mention, however, that both handheld versions will feature gameplay similar to the PC Game In Memoriam.

Atari also revealed how the Wiimote controls work: the Wiimote is used for changing camera angles, firing weapons as well as interacting with objects. The character's movements are controlled by the Nunchuck add-on.

Now that is good news....well I think I heard about that earlier, but now it's confirmed. Wii will probably have the PS2 equivalent, but still it will have it.

Does anyone else find it depressing that alot of games that are coming to the wii are also coming out for the handhelds? Meaning, we're getting alot of cheap ports of psp and ds games and not alot of ps3 and 360 type games. Thats probably because of the graphical specs but jeez, what next... tetris ds and loco roco for the wii?
