All you Metal Gear junkies must be rearing to get your hands on the upcoming MGS4: Guns of the Patriots. BUT. With all the hype and groove that surrounds MGS4, some of us might have already clouded your night-vision goggles and have forgotten about what's being served as a side-dish: Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops.

Now, the above trailer might seem a bit familiar, but there are new screens and clips shown here and there that you might want to see. You might even find a few pleasant surprises.

MGS: Portable Ops is set to be released soon (fourth quarter of this year) for the PSP, and is said to be the "missing link" in the MGS storyline. Plot aside, this game is bringing something new to the MGS franchise - WiFi gameplay and the "white flag" mode. The first one allows players to recruit a squadron of rare non-player characters (NPCs), and meet certain characters based on the IP address of the wireless hot spot they are connecting to. The "white flag" mode allows players to surrender and live to fight another day as there are no extra lives here. (Well, there are no "extra lives" in the real world anyways...)

So be sure to catch it when the game finally gets released. Meanwhile, enjoy the video.

 » yeah..

ocelot is kool and all but im really really looking forward to playing as Gray Fox even more :) and if they cant emulate the fw that mgspo plays on then ill just buy another psp

» i like them both, but...

it would be so cool if we could actually see a fair fight between ocelot and gray fox. instead of ocelot losing an arm and thats it.

by that ain't grey fox (Unregistered) - 2006-08-27

game setting is in the 1970's, he'd be a lil baby then. probably a mentor... etc.

   by SoulReaver - 2006-08-27
 » yes..

cool. that must mean that somethings we've learned from MGS1, will eventually happen in portable ops.

by Myra M. (QJ. NET Staff) - 2006-08-27

Here's the order of the games, according to the story line.

MGS 3: Snake Eater
MGS: Portable Ops
MG1
MG2: Solid Snake
MGS 1: Twin Snakes
MGS 2: Sons Of Liberty
MGS 4: Guns Of The Patriots

 » Cutscenes

Man, I am not liking that comic book theme those cutscenes are sporting. I liked it when it looked more like a movie.

awesome. I love ashley wood's artwork (for the comic cutscenes). he's amazing.

definately excited. devhook, will you save us from upgrading defeat?

by Myra M. (QJ. NET Staff) - 2006-08-28
 » ohas

Ashley wood really brings out the darker, twisted feel of the series. I love that about is work.

And I didn't know grey fox was always a ninja...? I thought he got all those super flippy powers from when they reprogrammed him.

Also, if solid snake fought along side him in zanzabar when they were like 30 something? wouldn't he be like 10 years old here?

by Myra M. (QJ. NET Staff) - 2006-08-28

Metal Gear 1- the year is 1995

www.metalgearsolid.org has a lot of great stuff about it.

   by ImpuLse (Unregistered) - 2006-08-28

c'mon it ain't that hard any of the other MGS games havn't used every button on the pad so it's gunna be the ver close to being the same.....

also no1 knows if this is going to be a 2.8 game yet.... there is a 50/50 chance of it being 2.7

   by ImpuLse (Unregistered) - 2006-08-28
» #27 wot he sed is true....

So do the math, you suck at MGS.

.........................................................

if u recall from the MGS releaed on the PS1 then u would know that greyfox was killed in alaska as it says in the cutscene when ya fight metal gear rex....
