 XMB before & after - Image 2 XMB before & after - Image 1

If you're fed up of seeing those useless update icons in the XMB when you pop a UMD into your PSP then Team tOc have come to your rescue with their latest homebrew addition for the PSP - AntiUpdate v1.0. Rather than changing the UMD update icon to something else which just takes up more space, this plugin patches the PSP RAM so that the dreaded update icon isn't there at all.

Don't worry - this has been extensively tested by Team tOc and they confirm that UMD games and homebrew all function correctly after running this - it's like nothing ever happened to your PSP. If you have firmware 3.03OE-C, 3.10OE-A and A' or 2.71SE-C, then you can use this plugin as all have been tested and confirmed to function correctly in them.

If you have another version of a custom firmware, it is advised that you do not attempt to use this just in case, but the authors are confident that as it searches the memory for the specific bytes instead of relying in pure memory addresses it should work with all firmwares.

Remember, there's no risk of bricking this as it does not access the PSP's flash memory. Let's get rid of those nasty updates once and for all, what do you say?!

This is so cool, I've never thought about it actually. It'll be activated for standard, I tell you +) As for the Network Update disabler, try this one:

http://dl.qj.net/VSH-Rebooter-PRX-v0.2-with-installer-PSP-Homebrew-Applications/pg/12/fid/12280/catid/151

It will flash and replace the official network update service with a simple "reboot XMB"-prx. Awesome if you want to reboot your PSP for recoverymode and you want to save your oh-so-fragile power switch. I use it all the time! A wonderful app!

   Re: RaiderX - 2007-03-16
 » netwrok update disabler

has been around for the longest. just remove the prx form your flash or replace it with something more useful such as the reboot module in the above post

   Re: PSPZorZ - 2007-03-15
 » fg

I think it would be harder to get rid of icons that are always there... the update icon disappears when we take out the UMD, but the certificate icon is ALWAYS there... they just found the string of text that was used to display the update icon and modified it to a nonexistant location, which made it not show up, but I have no idea how close we could be to getting rid of other icons :(.

Great release, team tOc, I had found a guide about removing this icon on my own, but I never got it to work for me... this makes it a lot easier :D

 » Topmenu_plugin.rco

If you mod the Topmenu_plugin.rco, there may be a way. Remember that sum1 made an extra icon by tweaking it. if they can figure out what they're doing, we might have a way to REMOVE unwanted icons. I would like to get rid of network update, locationfree player, et cetera...

Yeah, hopefully someone will make a plugin to hide the actual umd icon... I also hope someone makes a plugin that hides the memory stick icon until you press a certain button combination... that oughtta keep my brother off my psp :D

 » been waiting for this!

awesome job! i installed mine directly to flash0 so I don't have to put it into every memory stick.. only 1.9kb so small... to do it on 3.03 oec

1. enter recovery (reboot + r trigger)
2. advanced -> toggle flash0
3. open flash0:knpspbtcnf.txt and add this line:
$/kd/antiupdate.prx
4. copy antiupdate.prx to
flash0:kdantiupdate.prx
AND
flash0:knantiupdate.prx

5. toggle flash0 and exit and enjoy no more update icon :D

thx for the update about the kd folder. glad this helped :)

   Re: PSPZorZ - 2007-03-16
 » f

I wouldn't mess with the kd folder if I were you guys... if you accidentally rename or delete certain files in there you will have a permenantly bricked PSP (nope, no recovery)... but if you already put the prx in that folder, you might aswell keep it there if nothing went wrong, don't delete it because you might accidentally delete a needed file... Also, you shouldn't mess with the vsh/module folder, for the same reason.

sorry where is the seplugins folder of ms? As i could not find a folder similiar....

   Re: Henkibojj (Unregistered) - 2007-03-16
 » Seplugins

The seplugins folder should be in Root directory, containing two textfiles (named game.txt and vsh.txt) and all your prx-plugins, such as this one. Edit the text file you want (game.txt for game-prx's, vsh for XMB-prx's such as this one) and add the line "ms0:sepluginsPRXNAME.prx" for each prx you want installed. Then, you activate them in recovery mode under "plugins".

   Re: noob (Unregistered) - 2007-03-16
 » Seplugins

Sorry i undertand the activate through recovery mode as I can access it when boot up. But the root directory you talk of is the MS stick right??? I dun have the folder. Do I need to install any prior prx to have the folder as the default it does not have the folders or the 2 txt files you mentioned

   Re: PSPZorZ - 2007-03-16
 » g

hey noob, just open up your psp's root folder (the top folder, which should have a PSP folder and maybe a MP_ROOT or VIDEO folder) and create a folder called SEPLUGINS (since you don't have one already) and open that folder and create 2 text files (one called vsh.txt and the other called game.txt). The vsh.txt is plugins for the XMB menu and the game.txt is for isos and umds. Now open the vsh.txt (it should be a blank text file at this point) and type in this line of text: "ms0:sepluginsantiupdate.prx" (PS: use forward slashes instead of backslashes, for some reason I dont think you can type regular slashes in qj.net comments) and save the file. Typing that is just telling the PSP where to find the prx file to load (which should be put into the seplugins folder) so move your antiupdate.prx into the seplugins folder and then exit usb mode. Now go to recovery mode and choose plugins and it should have one plugin there that says something like [vsh] antiupdate.prx (disabled). Now go over the plugin and press X to enable it. Exit recovery and see your new xmb menu without the update icon under UMD. Let me know if you need anymore help.

   Re: Henkibojj (Unregistered) - 2007-03-16
 » OE

You must have a custom firmware such as 3.03 OE or 3.10 OE, otherwise nothing will ever happen. You're not supposed to press the Update icon - this plugin is meant to hide the Update icon. It's only possible to use this plugin if you have a custom firmware.

   Re: MaTiAz (Unregistered) - 2007-03-16
 » .

There's nothing else in VSH.txt than the path(s) to the plugin(s).

   Re: DJ (Unregistered) - 2007-03-16
 » actually yes...

you can add game.txt to use the prx while playing the games. You can also do this in pops (playstation one portable) by using the file pops.txt
it works the same way as vsh.txt such as ms0:/seplugins/irmp3.prx in the line. You can just simply copy and paste but these count as the maximum 10 prx limit.
   by DJ (Unregistered) - 2007-03-16
» to all the noobs (no offense)

very simple. create the folder SEPLUGINS in the root of the MS (where the folder PSP, VIDEO, and MUSIC, etc. is) then if you dont have the vsh.txt then create it. inside the vsh.txt you just simply point the file where it is located such as ms0:/seplugins/antiupdate.prx
there and you are done. if you want to add more then just add another line underneath the 1st line. You only have a limit of 10 prxs. oh and in the word ms0 it is a zero not an OH ok? make sure its a zero or it wont work.

Extra: you can put the prx files anywhere you want in the memory stick as long as you piont to it. Example: ms0:/seplugins/antiupdate.prx to ms0:/PSP/System/antiupdate.prx

i hope this tutorial helps! (i know it will)
