Today, Atari announced its remake of the classic 1980 arcade game BattleZone for the PSP. The game will be coming out this November and is being developed by Paradigm Entertainment.

BattleZone features fast and furious gameplay, photo-realistic environments, eight unique customizable team vehicles, an assortment of high-powered weapons and multiplayer battles. The four-player WiFi mode lets players go head to head, while unlockable weapons, vehicles and upgrades add even greater depth to the gameplay experience. In addition, extra game content will be available through the BattleZone web site, offering gamers news, leader boards and an exclusive online level builder tool that allows players to customize game maps.

BattleZone provides players with six popular and well-known game modes, including Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Team Deathmatch, Hotzone, Knockout, and Fox and Hound. For casual gamers, the single player mode offers an easy learning curve for pick-up and play gaming and a tournament progression to win upgrades and enhancements

Pick up and Play? Focuses on Wifi? Nostalgia factor? Throw in the word "infrastructure" and we'll have ourselves a winner. We'll be sure to keep you up to date as more information becomes available.

This looks pretty good but I wish they could make it like Battlezone II for the PC. That was a combination tank action: first person shooter: and Real Time Strategy game and I used to love playing it. It was probably my favorite game for a couple of years in a row but I guess this PSP Battlezone is taking out the FPS and RTS in favor of total tank combat (which was fun too) but in combination with the other aspects of Battlezone II was amazing.

BZ2 for PC was one of the most interesting and entertaining games ever. It amazes me that more games haven't done the RTS/FPS combo in the same way.

I enjoyed Battlezone 1 a lot better than BZ2. It's one of my favorite games of all time. Can't wait.

Number 9, why would anyone like to have Windows XP on their PSP? I mean, I wouldn't like if my PSP keeps crashing when I try to open...a picture. And if it's really WinXP for PSP, can it run Macromedia Flash 8, Photoshop and Illustrator? No? Then it's not Windows XP and it's false advertising.
