probably gotten your hands on was the classic Atari 2600. Old-school
gamers will definitely appreciate the comeback that the ageless console
is delivering by reviving well-loved titles through the Atari Classics Evolved title for Sony's PlayStation Portable handheld.Matt Rush, producer of Atari Classics Evolved, talks about how they have worked the old with the new and how things have evolved from there. You cant beat the classic Atari games when it comes to replay value, and with the release of Atari Classics Evolved on the PlayStation Portable it's guaranteed to keep you glued to your handhelds just to beat your high score ("just a bit more, a bit more... oh noooooes!"). Here are two new gameplay videos for the game, featuring Super Breakout and Tempest, to join the likes of Missile Command, Asteroids, Battlezone and Centipede.
As some of you might remember, Super Breakout plays like Pong, only you destroy bricks instead of having to volley the ball around with another player. Meanwhile, Tempest is a shoot-em-up game that emulates a 3D thmosphere. It's like Galaga, only simpler in graphics, but semi-3D in nature. Check out the vids for yourself! Atari Classics Evolved will be released on November 15.

Video game Atari Classics Evolved will be released exclusively for the PlayStation Portable this coming November 15. Just like the title implies, this PSP game is a compilation of Atari 2600 classics repackaged with aesthetic enhancements. Some of the Atari 2600 games included are Asteroids, Battlezone, and Centipede.
This time, we'd like to share with you a gameplay video for Missile Command. The original version was released back in 1990 and the objective is to save save six cities from an onslaught of ballistic missiles. Players can do this by targeting the incoming missiles and by launching a counter attack. The last retail version for Missile Command was released back in 1999 for Windows and PlayStation One. A downloadable version, however, was released on Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade service recently. |

We have here three gameplay videos for the upcoming compilation video game Atari Classics Evolved
on the PlayStation Portable. If this is the first time you've heard
about this one, note that it is exactly what the title says: a
compilation of classic games released on the platform Atari 2600.
In these videos, we revisit the ageless gameplay gems strewn with aesthetic improvements: Asteroids requires you to blast as many asteroids and UFO ships as possible, Battlezone on the other hand puts you in a tank tasked to destroy enemy super tanks, and Centipede turns you into a gnome who must protect the garden from insect swarms. Atari Classics Evolved is sure to make some of you reminisce the good ol' simple days. While the younger generation of gamers should give it a try to know what kept their moms and dads up all night. The game itself will be released on November 15. |

We have mentioned a couple of months back that a classic Atari game compilation, Atari Classics Evolved, is on the way to the PSP. In-depth details are now finally revealed through PSP World's interview with game producer Matt Rush.
In addition to the games already mentioned in the previous Atari Classics Evolved article, other games included in this compilation are Asteroids Deluxe, Missile Command, Lunar Lander as well as fifty unlockable Atari 2600 titles. Sounds cool? You betcha, especially for those who grew up playing those games. Rush also revealed that classic Atari games are also coming to the DS, Xbox Live, and PlayStation Network. Aside from Missile Command and Centipede being currently available on XBLA with achievements, he didn't give any more details about the game's availability on other consoles. One of the cooler features of PSP's Atari Classics Evolved is the use of peer-to-peer connection for wireless multiplayer gaming via Ad hoc. Definitely a good move on the developer's part.
