Zx-81 must love his emulators and the games that go with them. Just shortly after releasing the latest version of PSPsim for our usage, he's announcing the release of PSPBeeb v1.0.8. Homebrew emulator fans may recognize this as a PSP-based version of the BeebEm emulator, which is built to run games for the BBC Micro computer series on Windows and Unix platforms. Aside from the new PSP GPU that's been added - much like in PSPsim and PSPYape - this app also includes these changes:

The last time Zx-81 released PSPBEEB, he was kind of hoping it'll be the final release for this BBC emulator. But we guess there's a lot of us that hoped he'll revive the project; thus our collective prayers lead to v1.0.7. Hopefully, there'll be more versions to come. Here's the changelog:

Bah has released some keyboard mapping files for Zx-81's BBC Micro Computer emulator for the PSP, PSPBEEB. The latest release of PSPBEEB was just 2 days ago and with the revival of this emulator, more keyboard mapping files may be just what you need! This set of PSPBEEB keyboard mapping files donated by Bah includes mapping for more than 30 BEEB games with anything from Airlift to Meteors to Wallaby. These keyboard mapping files should be useful when combined with the new keyboard skin change option. Plus, the ability to save and load settings files for each game added in version 1.0.6 should be able to improve your emulation experience by quite a bit, giving it that extra 10% of authenticity. Thanks for these Bah! Download: [Keyboard mapping files for PSPBEEB] |

Zx-81 from our forums has once again taken the liberty to update one of his earlier emulators today - bringing PSPBEEB to version 1.0.6. Some of you may not have heard of this emulator, as the last version was released all the way back in May. This is one of Zx-81's unusual emulators, as most of the homebrew community would not recognise the vintage BBC Micro Computers that were first released all the way back in 1991. The BBC Micro, more commonly known as the Beeb, was an early home computer designed and built by Acorn Computers Ltd for th (BBC). The Beeb was used for educational uses in schools as well as being quite popular in homes back in a time when nobody had heard of the common PC. PSPBEEB is Zx-81's port of BeebEm, a famous BBC Micro computer emulator for Unix and Windows. Here's what's changed since v1.0.5:

Here's the changelog for this latest version: - In the key mapping editor, PSP keys can now be left unassigned - Disk image can now be loaded on the two drives of the BBC Micro (and not only on drive 0). This version contains a README.txt file that will definitely be helpful to users. Two binary versions (for 2.x and 1.5 FW) and sources are included in the zip archive. Sources are included, and this package is under "Beebem" license, read COPYING.txt file for more information about it. If you want a quick recap about Zx-81's conquests, you can check it out here. Zx-81 has ported Beebm, a BBC Micro Computer emulator to the PSP! Zx-81 successfully modified, and ported the source code of the 0.0.4 version from Dave Eggleston using PSPSDK environment. It's now working great on the PSP! PSPBeeb has been developed on linux for Firmware 2.5 using the great GTA eLoader (0.97), but it should work properly on other firmwares. Zx-81 has also integrated a 1.5FW binary version (kxploit). For those that are unfamiliar with BBC Micro Computers: The BBC Micro, affectionately known as the Beeb, was an early home computer. It was designed and built by Acorn Computers Ltd for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). The Beeb was often used for educational uses, and was highly successful in schools and homes back in a time when nobody had heard of the common PC. The first BBC Micro computers were released in 1981! I remember the BBC Micro computers from when I was just a kid, and i loved them. I'm pretty sure it was the first computer I ever used, and it brings back memories. Well done Zx-81!! Download: [PSPBeeb v1.0.1] |
