IR Shell configurator

Legendary developer of PSP iR Shell Ahman has released a plugin for his great homebrew shell program that allows you to view PDF and TXT files using a modified version of the popular homebrew PDF reader Bookr. Ahman modified the original code of Bookr 0.70 to make it work as an iR shell, meaning you don't have to leave the iR Shell file browser to read your PDF or TXT files.

In order to use this plugin all you have to do is copy the contents of the folder bookr070 into one of the free iR shell plugin directories located in x:/IRShell/EXTAPP (where x is your PSP). You then have to run iR Shell configurator in order to complete the plugin install by assigning the file suffixes (PDF and TXT) to the plugin locations.

I advise that you copy the Bookr plugin to 2 of the free iR Shell plugin directories in order to get the most out of this, as the configurator only allows you to allocate 1 file extension to each plugin.

It's nice to see more and more iR Shell plugins for the PSP, it's becoming like a the PSP version of Windows (but without the crashes). Now you can view PMP movies, PDF or txt files, and extract RAR/ZIP files all from the comfort of iR shell. Note to Sony - take tips from iR Shell if you ever redesign the XMB.

As you've probably guessed, iR Shell is required to use this plugin.

Note that the next release of iRShell will allow you to assign multiple extensions to the same APPx folder. (And plenty of amazingly cool stuff besides)

Stop being pedantic. For your information, the Mac OSX theme is just that, a theme! The graphics are just lookalikes and are not direct copies of Apple/Mac owned graphics.

I was going to get a umpc and probably still will but this reader has a lot of class.

for reading its best to convert to text file and up the font size to 14 ( it scrambles everythign at any gigher font size) . for comics pdf is fine .

now...to anyone who has been using this (BOOKR that is , i dont know what irshell even does...what does it do?)...anyway, to anyone who uses bookr , how much battery life can you get out of it at the lowest setting (10mhz) ...cos it'd save me trying to test it....thanx

great program , bookr is....i dunno what irshell does aside from what i can already do through my the normal xmb.

» Do you realize what this means?

I've been using irshell and bookr for a long time now so this is great news for me. This plug-in allows you to play any game, be it UMD, ISO, or homebrew then look at a FAQ or cheats without ever exiting your game. All you have to do is switch to irshell (by pressing 'L+Select), open your .txt or .pdf file, find the info you were looking for (like a cheat for Tomb Raider Legends or item location for Monster Hunter Freedom ^_^) then simply switch back to the same place you were in your game! Awesomeness!

» Datel Router and good app

For those who want to buy the datel router, you'd best just get a full fledged wifi router for 39-50 bucks, becaues most of them have protection plus some of em even reach FURTHER than the dongle from datel. It's up to you, just so you know your options. As for this app, I really liked Bookr and was kinda irritated it couldn't work on eloader. So, this is a plus in my book :D Keep up the good work guys, we appreciate it ( though some have their own "unique" way of expressing it :P..lol)

 » What it is ...

@iancloud2001
The Bookr plugin is a PBP plugin and not a PRX plugin. That means you CAN NOT run Bookr and another homebrew/game at the same time.

Apart from that iR Shell just got better with the TXT/PDF integration.

The difference to the standard version is that I can select any TXT file in iR Shell and with a click on it Bookr will open that file and display it. No need to use Bookr's file manager at all.

Also, you can adjust the font setting within Bookr, no need to convert your texts.

Regarding the Aqua-look ... it's totally different from the original. The colors, the layout, the icons - all different. Look closely ;) This is not a copy but built from the ground up, like ALL iR Shell skins presently available. PSD proof available upon request.

Apart from that - if you haven't tried iR Shell or don't know what it is ... Download it, install it, browse around the official forums and then enjoy the best homebrew there is for the PSP ;)

Great job on this program, the best thing about it though are the plug-ins. We need more plug-ins for this great program. I sure hope homebrew authors decide to support this shell.
