Here are some more PlayStation Portable news directly from the unfolding Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

After announcing the Skype functionality for the Sony handheld, it was recently revealed that GPS functions will finally be incorporated as well.

While the Global Positioning System has been in place in the Japanese PSP for some time now, this is one of the first concrete confirmations from Sony about the matter for places outside Japan.

An official announcement and a release date has yet to be issued but it's really glad to know that GPS is finally being activated for users outside Japan. Unless they want the homebrew scene to keep coming up with replacements for official Sony stuff, however, they'd better dish out the necessary software and peripherals soon. In the meantime, the community has Deniska's MapThis application.
