CFW 3.50 OE 5% complete - Image 1The moment PlayStation Portable Firmware 3.50 was released in North America, various homebrew developers claimed that they had already decrypted it without the help of Team C+D.

However, Mathieulh commented that the community should beware as Sony implemented various changes in the prx formats. After being quiet for some time, new updates regarding the decryption progress as well as that of the next custom firmware have emerged.

Accordingly, Mathieulh and Dark AleX are indeed working on CFW 3.50 OE and the project is already 5% complete. Reports mentioned that the two started working on it only yesterday just after DAX's school exams.

The following information was lifted from PSP-Gen's update with Mathieulh. The original French text was run through a web translator, so what follows might be a bit hard to understand:

The innovations are very simple, the 3.50 OE will allocate quite simply the use of the kernel 3.50. New demonstrations now require this firmware, various plays will not delay before being provided with the kernel 3.50 obligatory. In light, no large innovation, if it is not the passage to the 3.50.

Check back here at QJ.NET for future developments about CFW 3.50 OE. We promise to update you as soon as something develops.

Wow man, I guess I can use one of your three attempts at making a point.

1. Had it the longest
...Who cares? LOL. That was the *****tiest point ever, that's whY i said "I was curious" and not "you're gay for not updating?" or whatever you made it out to seem.

2. Fully customised my XMB. Dont want to convert and re-apply my themes
So don't? There's like 80 packs of 3.40 themes out there, so this point does not even matter, and I'm surprised you even said this.

3. Have lots of custom prx's that launch my homebrew! 3.40 OE-A doesnt have the Certificate Utility so thats one less icon for me...
This may be the only worth while one, but if you check forums (Not specifically these ones) you'll find that anything 3.03 has... 3.40 has.

..."Because I had it the longest." Lmao.

They are just sticking the 3.50 kernal into a custom firmware. Nothing new really. hmmm. Might stick with my 3.40 for a bit then. I don't need an remote connectivity or ps3 stuff seeing as how the ps3 costs as much as a high schooler's car.

   Re: ZXQ (Unregistered) - 2007-06-20

So, what happened to the Video Out feature that was discovered in the functions listing in the Kernel?

   Re: mohaas05 (Unregistered) - 2007-06-20
 » what?

first of all its not that simple. you have to work with the new prx layout and decrypt them. Also when have you seen a $600 car? A car that cheap is a piece of 5hit. And for ZXQ there was no video out feature discovered in the kernel. Just an icon image discovered in one of the .rco files.

   Re: manaox2 (Unregistered) - 2007-06-21
 » Hows a $500 1994 toyota tercal?

Being sold next door right before I typed my messageto high schoolers all over the US. I live in the USA. Yes, it IS a POS as you say. That is why it is a high schooler's car. Get it?

I know its not that simple. I was just talking about feature wise, not that they would be making a combination custom firmware. Now that I know that 333 mhz will be unlocked, I will definately want that feature for future games so that I don't have to use homebrew.

Decent translation:

The changes are simple, 3.50 OE will make only simple use of the new firmware's kernel. New software will require the firmware, and it will not be long before various games come with a 3.50 firmware requirement. All in all, not much change, other than the new 3.50 firmware.

   Re: Bored (Unregistered) - 2007-06-20
 » True

But still, it's interesting to hackers in that the prx format has been changed. So it actually would mean a big advancement for homebrew if they succeed in making the 3.50 OE a reality, even on the surface we users don't realise it.

With all the 3.40 customization I've done, I'd be difficult moving into this...
well lets say they would have to decrypt again all the rcos to get the own firmware rcos customizated,
also with all the freaking vshmain.prx editings, (icons positions, colors...) or the common_gui (for the infobar...)
or those wicked plugins like the random icons and the flashless custom xmb thing...
I think this update is worthy only of people who wants to play new games... I love my xmb as IS... not going to do a complete reflash... :D

As you can plainly see with all my tech speek that I'm well aquainted with homebrew but don' see the need for people releasing new firmware because it an inconvience for me. especialy after I spent the grand total of 0 hours actualy contributing jack squat to the scene. Who needs games, demo or anything else? It's the icons that activate those useless fuctions that make the psp scene, Silly Spaniards

3.50 Open Edition, which everyone's waiting on due to instability of the last custom firmware, is currently being developed by the energetic duo of Dark_Alex and Mathieulh.

They've currently programmed 5% of the your next custom firmware. You'll say tell us that's very little, but they've only just started the programming yesterday after Dark_Alex's exams. WE can assure you that 3.50 OE will be completed as quickly as the previous custom firmwares. Remember, all the elements are already in place, thanks to the decrypting by team C+D, to create a new custom firmware.

The news is very simple, 3.50 OE will allow you to just use kernel 3.50. New demos made this new custom firmware necessary and other new games will require kernel 3.50 very soon. To clarify, nothing really big or new except the switch to 3.50.

 » demos

Well...
If anybody REALLY wants to play the 3.50 demos, or any for a higher firmware, without upgrading, listen closely.

(this works for cfws and stock fws)

Download yourself pdc's PBP Unpacker

Download the demo

If its compressed in a zip or rar file, unzip/unrar it

Open the EBOOT.PBP of your demo with PBP Unpacker

Extract the files (DATA.PSP, PARAM.SFO, ICON0.PNG, etc)

Go down to PARAM.SFO and double-click it

Double-click the key titled PSP_SYSTEM_VER

Change the Data field to a number (x.xx) less than your firmware

Check the "save to PBP" option at the bottom

Click Save

Then click on the "..." buttons for the other files that were in the EBOOT

Once they are ALL there, click save and choose a destination

Viola! A demo playable an a lower firmware version!
I recommend not going too far below the original value, as system calls or file setups may have changed
