No more lag? NICE!NeoGeo emulators - or the US state of New Jersey">NJ's released yet another version of his emulator programs, as well as a bugfix to the source codes. For those who haven't heard of it, CPS1PSP and CPS2PSP are game emulators for the Capcom Play System 1 and 2 lines of arcade titles. MVSPSP, on the other hand, plays NeoGeo games.

Earlier versions of the emulators had varying problems with lag and sound quality which, little by little, were alleviated with each new release. Now it seems that these latest versions are Santa's way of saying Merry Christmas to programmers, as the lag seems to have disappeared.

As far as we can tell from the translations of the text, NJ realized that unzipping the cache files of games into a folder with the same name would basically remove almost all the lag in playing any of the said games. Yes folks, that means near-perfect emulation for all three programs...at the cost of using up more space on your PSP.

He's also released a bugfix to the source code, so if you feel like dissecting the information and giving him some feedback on his webpage, feel free to do so. You'll need Japanese language support on your PC to read his readme files, but you should be able to translate them to the net once you've done so. If you guys know Japanese, then a faithful translation to his readme files would be much appreciated. We've included both regular and Kernel Mode versions of his apps, which you can download below. Enjoy your games!

 » BEST EMULATOR SO FAR

unzipping the cache files into a folder and the new version of the emulator really unleashes the speed. Marvel VS Capcom now plays at 60 fps with sound at 44khz, raster effects on and vsycnc on. Havent tried any other games yet though. MvsC used to be playable but not fun due to the slow speed but now it is as perfect as the arcade. Cant wait to try the rest. Absoloutely amazing work NJ

 » Happy days

Isn't it possible to combine the two CPS emulators in one?
And how good is the NeoGeo emulator now? Does it have sound yet?

Keep up the good work!

I have been playing this since yesterday and all of the popular fighting games I have tried have been full speed. Some of them I had to reduce frame skip to 0 just to slow it down. A good illustration of just how great a job NJ has done is when you are playing SFA3, it feels like it is playing just as fast as the official Psp SFA3 UMD. In fact, CPS2 doesn't even feel like an emulator anymore, especially with the correct settings, the lag is almost 100% non existent. The extra space needed on the Psp memstick is worth it for this and since I will be using a 4GB Memstick, won't be noticed much anyway.

 » yea i agree

this is very good. im running MvC at full speed with rastor effects on. I currently have a 2 gig stick and dont feel it either +P. This is most definatly a great jump in playabiliy of cps2 games.

 » I'M STUCK

HOW DO YOU INSTALL THE ROMS AFTER CONVERTING?, I DID IT THE NORMAL WAY AND THE SPEEDS WERE CRAP

   Re: hank (Unregistered) - 2006-12-06
 » ok to install

for example if your trying to get marvel vs capcom get the full US version and the partial right because some roms wont work if you dont do this. THen cache like normally. Get the Cache name of the Marvel VS Capcom game and make a new folder in the CACHE folder of the CPS2 emulator and name it by the name of the Cached Marvel Vs Capcom. Then unzip all the files from the Zipped cached files in there and your set to go.

How do you get MvC to work?
Whenever I put it on there, it says "I doesn't work. Don't bother." Is there any way to fix this?

 » use an "u"

put a u at the end of the game title and also before the "_" symbol so it's after the game title again. it should work

 » OMG! OMG! OMG!

I didn't even know there was cps2 emulation until I looked more closely at the article. I thought it was only cps1. CPS 2 emulator is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it should have its own article since many people probably missed it - like me!!!
I just tried 1944, darkstalkers, and SFA , and they work perfectly! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so glad I looked at this post one more time!

 » Please...

I'm loving this!! My friends were all suprised to see Marvel vs. Capcom on a PSP...let alone working perfectly. Good to see all the CPS1 & 2 game covered.

Now all we need is a Midway emulator. *sigh* what i would give to play NBA Jam, Ultimate MK3, or even WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game on my PSP
