CXMB v2.31 - Image 1QJ.NET loyal reader Paul Lyons sent us a tip regarding the new build of poisonhzkj's pet project Custom XMB plugin or CXMB. This release brings the program up to version 2.31. CXMB, for the initiated, is a custom firmware plugin that allows for easier XMB customization.

Unfortunately, CXMB v2.31 still doesn't come with a Readme.txt file but poisonhzkj has a couple of important reminders over at his personal page. First of all, CXMB v2.31 now provides support for: paf.prx/vshmain.prx/common_gui.prx, .res/.pmf/.rsc file, and 3.40/3.52 CFW.

Aside from those, the developer also posted the following:

  • Notice 1: You should use the uncompressed prx, if you download a theme with compressed modules, you have to decompress it, so that CXMB could recognize them.
  • Notice 2: Use ms0:/cxmb/vsh/module/ (see? not *nodule*) for prx files and ms0:/cxmb/vsh/resource/ for rco files
  • Notice 3: ms0:/cxmb/font/ for fonts, but actually it may cause your browser some problem, and DO NOT put jpn0.pgf/kr0.pgf/gb3s1518.bwfon/ltn4.pgf here, it would bring you some unknown problems.
Like we said, CXMB v2.31 doesn't come with a documentation so be sure that you know what you are doing before installing this in your PlayStation Portable units. It would be wise to read our past coverage to gain more insights or visit the developer's page through our Source link.

 » How to Use:

If you actually took the time to read through the article instead of just clicking on the link to go to the comments you would have noticed the part that says ms0:/cxmb is different if you were previously a CXMB 1.x user. For 1.x it was ms0:/TM/ for version 2.x it is currently ms0:/cxmb/.

Edit your vsh.txt file which should be in ms0:/seplugins/vsh.txt to have the following line:
ms0:/cxmb/cxmb.prx

As for your theme files just place them in the proper folders too.

And as for the part in Notice3 where he says to take care when putting the font files in there, be extremely careful. Some time yesterday when I had found CXMB 2.1 and tried it for myself I soon found I had a bricked PSP, sometimes it was a partial brick, other times I could not even bring up the Recovery Menu of the custom firmware.

Thank goodness my Pandora Battery was able to help out! http://forums.qj.net/showthread.php?t+119983 - A link to a thread I started late last night describing the issue in great detail.

I've tried circacor with this and it doesn't work. It used to display but incorrectly, now it just freezes before anything shows up. I used PRXcompressor to decompress the prx's and now the little loading icon for circacor comes up but it still freezes after that goes away on the black screen. I am using 3.40 OE-A and unclear as to whether or not my firmware version is the issue or not?

I don't think circacor or applecor work on that fw. I think they are for 3.52m33

i used PRXcompressor but it keeps saying that it can't find gzipped content in the applecor files.

AppleCor works, tested by me, too.
@me (unreg): You should decompress 5 files, common_gui.prx, msvideo_main_plugin.prx, music_main_plugin.prx, paf.prx and vshmain.prx. And you should put them in module, not nodule, so not as it was already stored in the AppleCor zip file.
