It looks like Monster Hunter Freedom 2nd G's momentum is still carrying over even after it hit the one million mark last year. Capcom has recently announced that as of today, the game has sold over 1.5 million copies over in Japan. By comparison, Capcom's Monster Hunter franchise has sold over 6.8 million units. This means that 2nd G alone is attributed to around 22 percent of overall sales. Not bad for a game that's only been out for a little less than two weeks. That said, Capcom still hasn't revealed when the game - or its accompanying trinkets - will begin shipping outside its home territory. Consider this news a teaser of the sort reception the game could be picking up when it does hit North America and other markets. Until then, keep in touch in case we receive any more related info. |

The first monster hunter was ok, the second one was way better. I wonder how this one will be, but I will assume it will be Kick***. I have always wondered why it only sells around 200,000 in NA (vgchartz.net then games->game database).

» the reason is lack of advertisement
when was the last time you remember an ad on Monster Hunter Freedom or Freedom 2. I introduced 8 people to this game and they are all addicted...(pat on the back).. I never saw Monster Hunter Freedom or part 2 sold at Target. Or do i ever see a over ridiculous huge ad with a human size character posted up like Halo. By the time Halo 3 came out i was so sick of seeing posters posted up at every major retailer, all over the T.V., the radio station got on my nerves cause it was my place to get away from all that advertisment and they were ranting about giving away free Halo 3 on caller # 101.
With Monster Hunter to the average person it's more like dam i heard it was a f0cken tight A@S game. and someone tell you yeah it came out last year.......
and you're like no sh/t how did I sleep through all that.......It came out like a silent fart.

I thought MHF2 was great, but this totally takes it to a different level of difficulty. they throw in some of the most fiercest monsters together up to four monsters to slay per quest..... that is ground breaking
At most in MHF2 there was 2 identical monster to slay like duo trigex, or some downloade quest........
but in MHP2G U get the most challenging of the blood suckers toss in to a quest along with more of the newer, meanier with unpredictable new attacks, even stronger, super power beast that can take you out in 1 hit with you loaded MHP2 file that has the highest defense armor.
it will make even veterans of this game feel a bit noobish

» What this game lacks
To succeed in US, a game must include both guns and cars IMHO.
Monster Hunter titles have some sorts of guns, but no vehicle at all...
Well, except for that 'cat taxi' on which your dead body carried to the base camp.

» Try buying MHF2 in GameStops in NYC
It is sold out!
Who needs carz and gunz?

Here's to hoping Capcom will do the smart thing and port Monster Hunter 3 to PSP. I think that's the main reason they chose to move its development to Wii instead of PS3, so they can port it over to PSP very cheaply and easily and sell millions of copies. They would have to be stupid not to do it.
I just hope they add something meaningful to it, like FRIGGIN INFRASTRUCTURE!!!
