Those who love using emulators on their Sony PlayStation Portable have definitely a lot to look forward to today. Homebrew coder NJ has just released new builds for his projects CPS1PSP, CPS2PSP, MVSPSP, and NCDZPSP. This brings all the emulators up to version 2.3.1.While we really can't get anything from the Japanese texts on NJ's personal webpage, we believe that these builds are still on their initial stages because NJ has marked them as "developer's version". CPS1PSP and CPS2PSP emulate Capcom Play System 1 and 2 games on the PSP. On the other hand, MVSPSP and NCDZPSP allow users to play Neo Geo MVS and Neo GEO CD titles on the Sony handheld. Take all the necessary precautions in using these programs to avoid any problems. If you need more information, click on the Source link below. It should take you to NJ's release page for the emulators. Take note that, unless you understand Japanese, you will need an online language engine to understand some of the details posted there. With the month of October ending in a couple of days, it looks like developer NJ has decided to do some last-minute updating. The coder has just released version 2.3.0 of all of his homebrew emulators (CPS2PSP, CPS1PSP, MVSPSP, and NCDZPSP) along with a new set of updates. For those asking, CPS1PSP and CPS2PSP are emulators that allow you to play games originally run on the Capcom Play System 1 and 2 arcade boards on your PSP. MVSPSP will run games originally meant for the NeoGeo MVS, while NCDZPSP will run games from the NeoGeo CD console. Moving on, here's NJ's latest changelog (translated via Babelfish) since version 2.2.3:

The first one lets users run Capcom PlayStation 1 games on the Sony handheld while the second one is for titles released on Capcom PlayStation 2.We translated the changelog for version 2.2.3 using an online language engine and listed them down below. Take note that some of these changes also apply to upcoming builds for emulators MVSPSP (Neo Geo MVS) and NCDZPSP (Neo Geo CD):

If you loved the emulator collection NJ released yesterday, then today should be like early Christmas for you. QJ.NET Forum poster StoneCut managed to spot a new update to not one, not two, but all of the emulators previously released by the homebrew developer. Get ready for this special treat, because version 2.2.1a of CPS2PSP, CPS1PSP, MVSPSP, and NCDZPSP support Adhoc connection. Each and every one.To truly broaden the pool of pals you can pull into your emulated gaming sessions, NJ also released compatible versions for the PSP-1000 or the PSP Phat. Coupled with the updated PSP Slim & Lite compilations, retro gamers can get their PSP Slim comrades and PSP Phat cousins to enjoy Capcom Play System (1 or 2), Neo Geo CD System, or Neo Geo Multi-Video System (whichever floats your boat best). Now it's important to note that you'll need to mix and match each version to its counterpart on the opposite system, because Capcom Play System 2 on the Phat will only connect to Capcom Play System 2 on the Slim and vice versa. We've listed the downloads below in the original order that forum member StoneCut placed them, to preserve the user's intent and to minimize confusion. Speaking of confusion, the bundled readme isn't in English. So if you don't know how to get the right version to run on your PlayStation Portable, you can always have it "babelized" via online translation sites. If that doesn't help much, it wouldn't hurt to ask for help at QJ.NET's PSP Development Forums. Homebrew developer NJ just unleashed a massive update for his emulation projects on PSP, bringing them all to version 2.2.1. The emulators included in this release are CPS1PSP, CPS2PSP, MVSPSP and NCDZPSP. The first two are for Capcom Play System 1 and 2 while the last two are for Neo Geo MVS and Neo Geo CD.Much like the previous releases, NJ has made all of them compatible with the new PSP Slim & Lite running on CFW 3.71 M33. The following changes were done as related by the coder himself (translated using an online language engine):

Here's some great news for all the emulator fans out there. StoneCut has announced on the QJ.NET PSP Development Forums that Ahman has ported NJ's popular homebrew emulators for use with firmware 3.xx.This means that PlayStation Portable users can now run the emulators on a PSP Slim. The ported emulators are cps1psp, cps2psp, ncdzpsp and mvspsp. Ahman says that the only emulator tested on fw 3.xx was cps2psp, but that the others should also work fine. You can also choose to download the ported Adhoc versions of the emulators below. The edited source code is also available for download. For more info, we suggest that you drop by our PSP Development Forums by clicking on the Visit link below. All good things... Between weblation and a little help from a Japanese-reading staffer, we just read that NJ has decided to bid the PSP scene a fare-thee-well. These are his last updates, and the last time his NJ-Emu homepage will update, he says: the Neo Geo CPS1PSP and CPS2PSP, MVSPSP Neo Geo MVS emu, and the NCDZPSP Neo Geo CD emu, all standing now at v2.0.He had announced times before that his releases then would be final (at least for that emulator); some people might be tempted to take this announcement with a grain of salt, too. But this announcement says "Already, there are no times when the software of PSP is drawn up, but if these even a little become reference, it is fortunate," which we read as NJ wishing to leave these as his legacy to the scene, for other devs to work on (do give due credit to him if you're going to use the source code, okay?). Better to leave changelogs and instructions to each individual Readme - too long and probably rinsed with tears to print up on this page. Dosvidania, NJ. Thank you for the homebrew. To everyone who has been following NJ's work on the CPS1PSP, CPS2PSP, and MVSPSP, then you should know that one of our favorite Japanese devs has just released the last and final versions of his emulators. He has also recently released the source for the previous version. However, this also means that this might be the end of the road for him when it comes to emulator development. As he has noted on his own website, This homepage is closed. I wish to express my gratitude to the people who reported on the bugs up to now. The account of this homepage is deleted on January 10. Please download these files till then. The sound test of MVSPSP was deleted from the source code of the latest version (Because the sound emulation was changed). If necessary, please download the source code of 20061222(CPS1,CPS2 1.64 / MVS 1.63). Aww. At least he will always be remembered as the guy who brought the Capcom Play Systems 1 and 2 to PSPs everywhere. In the meantime, he has also released the source for all of his work for anyone who may be interested in picking up where he left off.
