Wave Flasher - Image 1Wave Flasher - Image 2

Homebrew coder Slasher from Team Duck said it best: "There are seemingly hundreds of custom XMB waves lately." In case you were somewhat left out back in the Dark Ages, an XMB wave (not to be mistaken with the application xmbWave) is a program that allows users to tinker with their handheld's cross media bar.

Anyway, Slasher mentioned that Wave Flasher v2 was made to test these other applications. All you have to do is rename your system_plugin_bg.rco to any name you want and then put it in the system_plugin_bg folder. This should be found in the root of your memory stick.

After you have placed all custom .rco's in the said folder, simply run the program. And from there, you can select which one you like best and install it accordingly. This is actually the first release for Wave Flasher, but as we've mentioned, it is already in v2.

Changelog:

Version 2
  • Sharper GUI
  • Added backup and restore wave function
Version 1
  • Shows all waves located in the system_plugin_bg folder
  • Quick installation method
  • Various error checks to ensure a safe flash
  • Displays the last installed wave

does this work with 3.03?
what are the chances of me bricking my psp?

   by r3SpaVVn (Unregistered) - 2007-02-07
 » !!!

just save the original .rco file, because if u got dark_alex' custom firmware u can just replace it every time if u want anoter xmb wave design. this could just end in a semi-brick, if this happens just place the original back to flash0:/vsh/resource.

sry 4 my bad english, i'm german! ;)

THE README DIDN'T SAY ***** ABOUT IT BRICKING. I RUN ALL KINDS OF CRAP ON MY PSP THAT WARNS ME ABOUT BRICKING AND I CAN INSTALL IT IN THE WORST WAY AND IT WILL WORK PERFECT, BUT NOT THIS STUPID *****!  » recovery mode

surely you've tried holding down the R button when booting to get into recovery mode right ...right? because just flashing a custom waveline shouldn't completely brick your psp. you should still have recovery mode.

joel i cant believe how stupid u are........u cant accuse the creator of this because u bricked it.....when u dont know what ur doing u dont touch anything.......and if u dont have recovery mode then ur more than a noob briking ur psp with custom waves

Hey joel, take your bull***** elsewhere. I'm sick of little *****s like you coming in the comment section and ranting about random *****. I'm *****ing sick of it.

Whether this program was ran from GAME150, OR GAME, it doesn't matter. As for the bricking, you must have flashed a faulty/corrupted system_plugin_bg.rco.

It isn't this programs fault. It's your fault.

Use your recovery console. FFS.

HELP please tell the developers there is something wrong, this bricked my psp it freezes at the sony entertainment screen!!

   Re: Anonymous_349 (Unregistered) - 2007-02-08
 » I've had that before...

If your using any of the OE/SE FW series then you can first try putting your original .rco to your flash0 (given if you backed up before hand). If that doesn't cut it. then run the recovery back to 1.50 and re-install OE/SE CFW.

 » Morons...

F*****G noobz!
If u dont like it, dont use it.
It's CLEARLY states that there's a chance of bricking if SPECIALLY if you flash BAD .rco's. ALSO, this brew isn't idiot proof. meaning (and this goes for all the nOObz out there!) if your flashing files you don't know what does or you haven't tested. Then your chance of it having to work is 50-50.
Next time when you read the README's, read it PROPERLY.

Here's my lil tip. the "system_plugin_bg.rco" should be 40.8kb exactly in size. Any bigger than that you end up bricking/half bricking your unit. (You can still recover from recovery OE/SE series)
But if you flashed it using this brew in 3.10 (sony) then your screwed.

 » fix for 3.10OE-A

guys its simple as holding down the right trigger button while turning the psp on to access the damn recovery menu. from there go to advance menu and enable "toggle usb (flash0)". then on the computer put your backedup rco file in the directory of "flash0/vsh/recourse"
*if you do not have a rco of your version then ask around and get the real sony rco file*

*ive had this problem*
i used 3.10 OE-A at the time when it happend to me so i know this will fix the problem for you lamers that dont know how to fix your psp.

i had the problem right as the 3.10 OE-A came out so there was no warning about not flashing rco files to custom 3.10 OE-A...

yea but my version is 3.01 fw by booster so it has no recovery

 » i semi-bricked my psp using a bad .rco

i take full responiblity for this but i was wondering is tere any way at all i can un brick it i am using 1.5 so there is no recavery fucntion

   by deadsoul (Unregistered) - 2007-02-11
 » bricked

mine is also bricked
i am using 1.50 firmware. i used the rco file that came with the zip file i downloaded from here, and im stuck at " sony computer entertainment" i dont have a recovery mode of course.
by the way the readme file does not have anything about bricking your psp.
anyway i understand that its not ur fault.
is this a semi brick since its stuck at startup or its a completely brick?? can it be redone.

   by CrashCore - 2007-02-13
 » .

I realize it's too late for some of you, but for the remaining people without recovery mode that are thinking about writing to flash0: don't. Get a custom 1.50 if you don't want to go to the OE's, but personally I would get the newest OE (3.10 OE-A' currently) since it has everything 1.50 does and more.

In summary, if you're going to modify flash0, have a firmware with recovery mode.
