We still have no word if Square Enix is planning to release Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII in other markets aside from Japan but the last we look, September 13 the Japanese release date is still a go. To compensate, here's the opening cut scene for Crisis Core from QJ.NET reader EGC.

This fourth entry in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series is very crucial as the game focuses on the events of Nibelheim. Here, we get to see 1st Class SOLDIER Zack Fair as well as Cloud Strife when he was still a Shinra Guard. In terms of gameplay, we're pretty sure that you will all be looking forward to the new battle system known as Digital Mind Wave.

On a hopeful note for our readers, a previously released trailer for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII might have hinted on an English release for the game as the credits in the said clip were done in English. Apart from that, there's no other form of confirmation about the matter...yet.

 » haha....

So what is this going to be almost excactly like FF7 but with Alex? I mean that is almost the same opening scene in FF7....I liked it though.

   Re: Meh (Unregistered) - 2007-09-06
 » lmao

first, his name is Zack
second, it was nothing like the FFVII opening, the only similar things is that there is a train....Clouds just walks out of the train, Zack goes around the train roof fighting people, and them do some cool moves
I think there will be few CGs in this game, seeing as most of the stuff in the other trailers are all in-game cutscenes

The ending of this movie is an homage to the game, the angle in which the train arrives at the station is exactly the same, also when Zack jumps off is just like the technical demo.

And there are plenty CG's, i've seen Genesis loads of times, about half of the trailers are in CG

 » word to the wise

aye, his name is Zack!
As "meh" stated, the opening is more or less completely different to Final Fantasy 7's... Obviously the opening ha been made to have various resemblances to FF7's iconic opening as some kind of self-tribute... If you look at movies and other video games, they do it all the time...
Also, you cannot assume that you'll essentially be playing the original Final Fantasy 7 (wow, there's a grammatical anomaly!) as doing so would be an act of ignorance to the evidence to the contrary:

Exhibit A: possibly one of the more damning exhibits on show here; released footage of the game so far baring very little similarity in playing style to what's already been shown, and indeed showing scenes which made NO appearance in the original game.

Exhibit B: The inclusion of totally new characters; as you can plainly see (even if you've not seen the other trailers), near the beginning of the opening sequence after Zack jumps from the helicopter, another guy jumps down and tells him something... my Japanese isn't up to scratch so I can't tell you what, but in any case, he's a new character (probably NPC)!

Exhibit C: if you played FF7 for nearly as long as I did (my longest save was well over 300 hours, but I've accumulated weeks overall), you should be fairly well versed with Zack anyway... you should know that he died before FF7 begins (you can visit his grave/parents if you go to the town near the destroyed reactor by cosmo canyon/forest of the ancients/where you get Yuffie)... ergo playing FF7 as him wouldn't make chronological sense...

Exhibit D: the press releases have already told us that the story is based on the events leading up to FF7 (making it a prequel)... what I'm unsure of at the moment is whether Crisis Core take part before "Last Call", the animé focusing on Zack.

In any case, I'm really looking forward to this title (as you may have gathered), but only hope that the Japanese voice others are retained for the western release (which is bound to come eventually), though I doubt it will ¬_¬...

Most games aren't realistic, Especially RPG, FF titles.
Also he wasn't blocking bullets you idiot he was moving his sword to deflect them away, try actually watching the video next time b4 talking BS.

Anyway This game will be killer though i have seen this vid two days ago to be honest, it still looks great.

I'm starting to like zack a lot more than I liked cloud (he was too emo for me). I hope they include the japanese voices if they make a us release. I have a feeling that the english voices will not be nearly as good as the japanese.

 » Coolness

The cartoon looked great, and sounded great. Not just the voices but the sound effects were good. I hope the game is worthy of being related to FF7. The game play is what is going to matter. One of the things I enjoyed about FF7 was the search for materia and then customizing my weapons and armor, etc. Of course another thing I cared about was the story, and I cared about the characters (except for that lame Catsaith thing) If the game keeps these elements in this game then it will be another classic.

Also the "Strangler" the chic who said something about how the blocking of bullets looked unrealistic, is just trying to get a rise out of people. She can't really believe that a FF game should be realistic. I'm sure if they made a game that was realistic it would be lots of fun. Here is some of the things you would do in the game:

1. Clean the toilet of sh*t stains.
2. Go to work or school and have a boring uneventful day.
3. Watch some stupid TV show that you won't remember after your finished watching it.
4. Take a nap due to the stress of the days events.
5. Wake up eat some dinner and go to bed.
6. Wake up and repeat.

Of course you could mix the events up if you want. Maybe even unlock some special events like, going to the market to buy some food. If you're really great you can unlock a girlfriend/ or wife. (Or most likely in the case of the "Strangler" a gay lover.) That would be realistic. Maybe that will be Squares next big game. Maybe, Maybe not.

That opening is the best opening i've seen for any video game i've ever seen.

   Re: Manny151 (Unregistered) - 2007-09-07
» I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that one

The best openings in my opinion belong to the Onimusha series, They are incredible. I really hope they make an Onimusha game for the PS3. Oh and regarding that video and FFVII CC it looked bad ass and so does the gameplay that they've shown on other videos, can't wait to get it.
