Crisis Core secret cinematic confirms Final Fantasy VII remake? - Image 1

According to Kouli, a member of the Gamefaqs Boards, Square Enix is indeed making a Final Fantasy VII remake. Proof of this can be found in a secret trailer video at the end of PSP game Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. We know, and maybe Kouli knows as well, that this is something hard to believe but he has got some screenshots for the naysayers.

The forum member said that one has to finish the game twice and after the credits has finished rolling, the secret cinematic will begin to play. It was also said that the video is quite similar to the one shown at E3 2005 in the Final Fantasy PlayStation 3 Tech Demo.

It is uncertain, however, if the rumored Final Fantasy VII remake will be released on the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable. Both Square Enix and Sony has yet to comment on the matter. Until they do, we're putting this one for now in our rumor basket.

WTF What the heck?!?!

How did he played thorugh the game twice in this short time?!!?!

Kouli, you are a freak... (sry, I don't mean it bad)

   Re: Stealth! - 2007-09-14
 » Its possibe

It may not be as long as FF7 was, or he just has that much time to play it twice, or he just didn't level up alot like i do.

Also They better not release FF7 on the psp unless its the regular one, not remake on the PSP. You won't get the great graphics and voice overs as good as the PS3, so im sure its going to be on the PS3.

 » Easy

The game is really easy, and really short, i would of thought it was hard from the looks of it. There is no "game mode" to this so its just random hardness. There is a video of Genesis and sephiroth fighting and i really do think genesis was HARD like hell but ending up he a weak idiot even i killed him when i was at level 14. As for Angeal Hewley , he more harder than Genisis when he in his Monster fusion moded. You have to use protect now and again or you'll get killed by his limit break. Anyway its fairly easy and really short, completed the game within 7 hrs. I'm replaying it just to see the secret ending.

 » why assume remake?

it seems a little too obvious to ask, but seeing as Crisis Core is more of a Prequel to FF7 than a sequel, wouldn't "To Be Continued" just be a lead up to the already 10-year old Final Fantasy 7? That's not to say they won't make a remake, why assume that from this?

   Re: Sr_Moska - 2007-09-13
 » yup

they want us to play the PS1 (don't be surprised if it suddenly appears in the PSN)

   Re: FreePlay - 2007-09-13
 » ABSOLUTELY CORRECT

I can pretty much GUARANTEE that it'll show up in the PSN store. Hence why it works flawlessly on 3.60... I'd bet that they intentionally fixed the POPS plugin just for

man, can't we learn our lessons? first they say they didn't create a new psp to surpass ds right? now look your palms and see the new psp slim, and now they said that there are no topics or project about ff7 remake now look hehehe.

Sony and Square Enix are two completely different companies. Sony made the PSP and Square Enix made Final Fantasy.

» I joined just to say this...

what the hell were you thinking when you posted this article?

any sane person can see full well that it is "to be continued in FF7" because it's a prequel! they aren't going to rip the FMV from the original FF7 because those graphics are worse than Crisis core's.

Notice how more recent spiderman comics (and such) will draw NEW parts that were in old comics (like flashbacks from the 60's ones)? that's the same concept here. It's obvious, REALLLLLLLLY obvious.

seriously, is it slow news time? or did you just not see the most obvious answer to this?

   Re: Highsight - 2007-09-13
 » Well said

He pretty much said everything I was going to say. This is not proof of a FFVII remake at all, all it is, is an FMV that they upgraded the graphics on so it met the requirements of the previous graphics in the game. Remember, this is a prequel to FFVII so what they are saying is, "go play the real FFVII", not "wait forever for a remake that is not going to exist." :P
   by akadewboy - 2007-09-13
 » Hurray more emo Cloud...

Seriously, they are going to completely ruin the game. They're going to turn Cloud emo again and all the voice actors they chose are god awful (especially Cid and Barrett). It will be terrible.

   by UncertainGod - 2007-09-13
 » pointless

This is a pointless post, the game is a prequel, even if they didn't make a remake it would still be "to be continued" in FFVII, and of course for a movie they are going to use the video from the PS3 tech demo.

its just means that if you wanna continue the story play Final Fantasy VII.

Congratulations, you've all labelled yourselves as Software Pirates.. as the game has been released in Japan only a matter of hours. Technically you should all be banned from commenting.

   Re: rawrskies - 2007-09-13
 » Dumb.

Did you even read most of the comments ? Only one or two people claimed (or implied) that they had played the game. Not to mention that people living in Japan *can* post here too, so it's not impossible to have the game and be able to comment here.

And yes, the guy from the article had finished it twice already, so I'd say there was ample enough time to finish it at least once.

   Re: Keith K - 2007-09-13
 » Dumb?

When I posted this comment, the game had been out in Japan a matter of 12 hours. Thats enough time to buy it, beat it and come on here and talk all about it? Yeah.. thats plausible.

 » nah

Its wishful thinking. This doesn't confirm anything.

This is just as if it had said at the end of portable ops "to be continued in Metal Gear: Solid Snake"

However I hope it does mean remake! :D

   by ProsaCC - 2007-09-13
 » -

It's just a way of saying that if you would like to experience more of the Final Fantasy VII universe play FFVII.

   by rawrskies - 2007-09-13
 » Hmm.

Although I doubt that it means a remake is imminent, the interesting thing is that you need to finish the game TWICE to see the 'secret' trailer. So if it's only means that you should play the original to see the 'continuation', why didn't they play it the first time you finish, instead of when you finish twice ? It's either they're actually hinting towards something, or they're just being bastards and teasing people. *shrug*

Either way, if there IS a remake, it would be at least 2/3 years down the track. Hardly worth getting excited yet.

   Re: NeoDraven - 2007-09-13
» It's gotta be talking about the original...

...this being the prequel. Without being a fanboy, I'd love a remake of FF7 for any system, but I don't see it happening yet. The FF series is still being added to, and there have been no less than 3 offerings already that have continued or expanded on the story (Advent Children, Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus), with several remakes already completed or in the works for the older games (1-3, Tactics). If Squeenix does plan to remake FF7, it won't be any time soon.

Um, it just means the story will continue if you play Final Fantasy VII

   by Jx1 - 2007-09-13
 » :S

I'm both dubious on both answers. It could just mean to continue the story on the PSX FFVII.

but to make it so "hard" to get, makes you think twice. Why hide it? they could have placed it on the ending video. :S

and how sucky it's so short! they took years in the making, and it's done in less than a day!? wow. how crappy.

how long did that take u XD really its more common sense when playing FF games you talk. BTW go to Japan and buy the game or order the game from play-asia its pretty simple just dont be a butt-pirate ppl.(Which is 3/4 of the people in this site:P)

 » The pictures are legit

I went and watched the PS3 Tech Demo and repeatedly paused it. While Aerith's movements are depicted just like they are in the Tech Demo, there is still the picture of the truck driving past Goblin's Bar.

The position of the people on the picture and the position and directions that the people are walking on the tech demo are totally different.

So I'm sure that the video the person is talking about is legit.

 » hmmm...

Well, I'd say that is they wanted us to play the PSX one again, it would say "Continued in FFVII" instead of "TO BE continued"

I guess all we can do is wait and see what comes up...

   by Naroon Kasui - 2007-09-13
» Remake? I Dont Think So...

Since FF7 is actually a sequel to THIS game (crisis core), to be continued would mean...go buy FF7 if you havent played it yet, and if you have, play it again.

Then again, they just might make a remake, but dont count on it any time soon. They're working on FF13, FF Versus 13, the cell phone FF13, another Final Fantasy game on PSP, then AFTER all of that, the next Kingdom Hearts game will come out, THEN MAYBE, word on a FF7 remake.

You guys don't really think that Square Enix is dedicating all of their time on FF7 remake right?

Exactly... Not trying to be a jerk but hey, its the truth.

   by anon51 - 2007-09-13
 » ...I don't think

I don't think they're telling the japanese people that bought the game to go a buy a game that Square Enix doesn't currently publish, unless there's some crazy Japanese societal precedent for stuff like that... 'To be' always indicates something that is to come, not selectively something that might be in the future relative to something chronological setting (from the way I understand it).

Anyways, again correct me if I'm wrong, Square hasn't been doing it's own remakes. It doesn't matter that the team the originall did the tech demo for FF7 is working FF13 presently if Square is going to outsource it anyways. And if Square was going to re-release the game even just on PSN, it would make sense to (at the VERY least) implement analog controls AND re-render the FMV's with the new character models. And, as further corroboration, they've already had a remake of FF 1 & 2 (several times), 3 , 4 (again several times), 5 (still several times), and 6 (several times too). And they've got Tactics on the PSP coming out AND 4 DS... They're kinda tapped for remakes if they AREN'T going to do 7. Given the trend of the last couple of years, that doesn't sound like Square.

   Re: Big Daddy - 2007-09-13
 » So...

You would like to thank Enix for that? By all means. :D

   Re: Naroon Kasui - 2007-09-13
 » Heh

And all of the games they DID remake, were all 2D remakes of 2D games. Remaking a 3D game requires way more time and work. Plus, I really doubt they'd do. Regardless of the team, all teams at Squeenix are strapped right now, so no matter which team anyone goes to, FFVII remake, if it even exists, won't be around for a good while to come.

I don't even see a real reason for the remake. All it would be is just the same game with better graphics, which imo, is cool but pointless. What fun would it be going through the game when you already know everything and where to go, but just with HD, extremely detailed visuals? Sure, it's a cool concept but I personally just don't think Squeenix should waste their time doing that. Focus on the task at hand, is what I say.

   Re: anon51 - 2007-09-14
» this is what I mean..

..when I say they aren't doing their own remakes. Can you say 'outsourced'?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TOSE

I'm sure Square got a nice paycheck out of the re-release...

   Re: anon51 - 2007-09-14
 » oh, excuse me...

you also said '2D remakes of 2D games'. Yeah Square's lazy there too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matrix_Software

Since when does a to be continued screen equal a remake? And since when does a random user at Gamefaqs opinion on something amount to any authenticity at all?

   by Noobicious - 2007-09-14
 » roflmfao

it's funny how everybody gets excited and goes "WOOHOO REMAKE!"
it's probably just there to show a little bit of what happens after crisis core.
unless you rather have square rip out the original psx fmv and just put it on there instead.
my guess, there is NO remake
