With the September 13 Japanese release of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII close at hand, it's about time that the creators do an interview to stoke the fires of the Crisis Core's already intense hype.

Executive producer Yoshinori Kitase, producer Hideki Imaizumi, director Hajime Tabata, and of course, character designer Tetsuya Nomura, all sat down with Famitsu to talk about the latest Final Fantasy VII Compilation title.

Something surprising that was revealed in the interview was the fact that a port of the Before Crisis mobile game was supposed to be released for the PSP, and not Crisis Core. For those who aren't familiar with the title, Before Crisis is yet another Final Fantasy VII spin-off that features the Turks as the main protagonists.

However, Tetsuya Nomura suggested that they create something that had more impact in the FFVII compilation storyline, so they decided to create a whole new game that revolves on a character whose story is not yet touched upon. Of course, who is more fitting than Zack, Cloud's mysterious comrade that was only mentioned only a few times in the game? Thus, Crisis Core was born.

As to how Crisis Core turned out, Tabata assures that its going to be a big game, which almost fills up the entire UMD-ROM space. It will have fun for gamers of all levels. Tabata said that the game is well-balanced in such a way that anyone can finish it, but there will also be 300 sidequests or missions for the advanced players.

On a related note, how about an FFVII remake? While they neither confirmed or deny the existence of such a game, they just said that there's going to be a new Before Crisis episode for mobile games, this time with Reno as the protagonist. Tabata also added that they will announce a new game in the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, but they didn't tell as to what game it is.

Will it be the new Kingdom Hearts game? Or another Final Fantasy title? How about an entirely new game? Do check this space often to find out.
