I'm passing, for now. I'm simply not updating until there's either a) homebrew I want to use that won't work on my currently installed M33, or Sony updates the PS3 firmware such that remote play doesn't work with my version.
BUT... I think this is great, and I encourage PSPGen to keep going full steam. It's not a good thing to have the entire community dependent on one man (Dark Alex) and the more minds we have keeping the platform open/unlocked, the better.
Great work, PSPGen!

» Still no iR Shell
Alright this is great. But it kinda sucks not having cxmb or iR Shell. I really dont have a need for this, but I am glad that we have another team working on keeping our scene alive. Currently I might leave it on 3.95-2 but as I go, if there are more problems I will flash back to 3.90M33-2.
Just to help anyone out, rename your GAME3XX foler to GAME395 or else any homebrew in that folder will go un recognised.
Keep up the good work GEN!!

Heres the things that don't work.
Using Ice silver PSP slim TA085 V1
SNES
iRShell
cxmb
That's my bug report. There's no difference and I suspected it. As of now I'm back to 3.90M33-2. Thank you GEN but IMO this is rather not worth it to me.

» Question about 1.5 subset
Is there a fat 1.50 addon for this firmware? Because if their is, and with the working popsloader (I'm currently running through FFVII for the first time, as I was about six when the game first came out) I may upgrade.

» Even Dax said quit coding for 1.5
Dax encouraged coders to quit using the 1.5 krnl
Most everything I use has a 3xx kernel build.
I havn't had any problems running 3xx krnl homebrew.
I love the fact that the recovery menu sports a pandora battery creator, and a UMD to USB option. all my ISO's have played just fine.
If you don't like the pops loader, I here DAX's works just fine on GEN
My god, when M33 came out, everybody cried that it was going to brick their system. people called it crap, and then it turned out to be DAX the whole time, and now no one wants to give Gen a chance, when the truth is, it's a solid firmware.
it does kinda suck the network update didn't work this time, but come on Dax's 3.51 had 6 updates. No one is perfect.
And if your that stuck on 1.5, DAX has given you time machine, and with the ability in GEN to switch a battery back and forth between a pandora, it's perfect for time machine, I used to carry two batteries everywhere, now it's just one. With how big memory sticks are getting, time machine files are hardly anything to your memory stick.
Gen is great firmware, good work guys.

There is a slim motherboard known as the TA085 V2 which disables the making of a pandora battery. With that in mind who finds switching between batteries easy. My friend has that baord and he had 3.60 firmware when he bought it.
Also about the no more coding for 1.50 I agree with. It's no longer the golden firmware so why the hell wont people jump on the 3.XX kernel band wagon. When ever I see a 1.50 only homebrew, I see a division in the hombrew community. Why support a firmware that is outdated and only supports half of us when it can easily be made for all of us both fat and slim owners. We'll be on the 4.XX kernel soon so why stay in the past when it only works for some and not all. Hopefully timemachine V0.2 will not require pandora cause that's too much.

» Why even switch?
My batteries are all permanently Pandora. The IPL for Timemachine is awesome. Why would you even need to switch the battery back and forth? Just have a friend convert it and you are good to go if you have time machine installed properly.

» @ skoomaeater
Well this isn't my problem just my friend's. I personally believe that since rechargable batteries die over time based on usage it would be silly for him to kill the pandora first and then at that time be surrounded in the nightmare of not being able to get unpatched batteries.

» No, or at least I don't think so.
I've tried out the firmware, and the popsloader that comes with it has the same pops version compatability range as the last Dark AleX release. 3.95 is not an option, even from flash. I haven't tried disabling popsloader and running games that way because all my PS1 games require earlier versions.

That was to add the version of popsloader that RUNS on 3.95 GEN-2, not the pops of 3.95. :(
It also won't run my dumps of 3.80 and 3.90, also.

» Great job, GEN!
Tried it out on my fat PSP, and it works great! While the popsloader was dissapointing, (exactly the same functionality as the old one), it does everything I want it to and the recovery menu awesomeness is worth the upgrade alone for me. (Innate pandorizing of batteries.)

» All and all....
This is a very solid FW. I am using it on my slim with motherboard TA-85. I love the pandora ability. Most of the homebrew I run is working. I only miss cxmb. So far it is pretty damn good. Still, it is weird that the format flash1 in recovery doesnt work. That is not a big deal though. I would imagine that they will fix that later.

» Time Machine installation works on Phat.
Installed Time Machine v.1 on my Phat while running 3.95 GEN-2 and DCDv5. All features work, no installer errors other than the ones caused by my own stupidity (You'd think I'd stop deleting 390.PBP by now, after using it once to install 3.90m33-3 on my PSP, and once on a friends, but I'd already deleted it when I wanted to install DCDv5.)

so with this, u can turn it to and from a pandora battery... does that means the recovery menu works while its pandorized? how do u change it back to a normal battery while its pandorized? jsuk, i dont have 3.95 gen.. (YET!)

» Here's how.
You plug it into an AC adaptor with the Pandora removed, turn on the PSP while holding R, then plug in the battery once you reach the recovery menu. Then you can de-pandorize it.
It will not natively boot with a pandora inserted, but Time Machine will let you do that if installed.

im just wondering-
1. does the captain morgan beta work on here?
2. do u need any extra files for the pandora maker, like the magic memory files or does it install that by itself? cuz i made the pandora battery, but when i started it, the screen stayed black
