Surprise, surprise, surprise! A new custom firmware has been released by homebrew coder U3-Robot. Custom Firmware 5.50 U3R is based on the recently released 5.50GEN by GENyUS with some additional features like a shutdown option for VSH menu and speed up option for recovery menu. And just recently, a bug fix update was released to fix some issues.

CFW 5.50 U3R changes from 5.50 GEN:
  • VSH Menu has SHUTDOWN DEVICE option.
  • Recovery Menu has SPEEDUP MS options.
  • PSX games may work, but I'm not 100% sure (this means NOT TESTED).
Installation procedure:
  • You must install first 5.50 GEN as a shell (framework).
  • Copy u3rloader folder from a zip file to /PSP/GAME
  • Start 5.50U3R Installer from Game - Memory stick.
  • Click X to install firmware.
  • Enjoy!
And here is the changelog for 5.50 U3R-2:
  • Fixed PSX Games - they are now working. (tested on Gran Turismo)
  • Fixed exit with O button - now working.
  • Added built-in plugins: (only for psp-2000, and still under construction)
  • LEDControl 0.2 (not working on my 2000)
  • Hold+ 3.7 (working on my 2000)
  • MusicPRX 390 (not working on my 2000)
Installation procedure:
  • You must install first 5.50 GEN or 5.50 U3R as a shell (framework).
  • Delete u3rloader folder from /PSP/GAME if it is.
  • Copy u3rloader folder from a zip file to /PSP/GAME
  • Start 5.50U3R Installer from Game - Memory stick.
  • Click X to install firmware or Up with plugins.
  • Enjoy!
As always, please be careful in installing any app that deals with your flash, if you do not know what you are doing there is a chance of bricking your PSP.

 » Piggy back firmware

The firmware just uses M33, GEN and a couple of it's own modules... Sorry but it's not that special

Yeah this guys should just submit patches to the original devs. Instead they choose to make a horrible name for them self by putting their names on something they dint even help produce.

 » Much like 3.95 CFW

I remember when some person posts a firmware labelled 3.95 CFW or it might of been (3.95) jsut labelled CFW and not some random team name or anything like that. The dev stated, "Alot of the firmware is still M33, so I will not take credit for something I haven't done."

We need more people like that, I bet Team M33 had massive respect for that dev.
