DGEN v1.70 Slim - Image 1Fans of the Syn-z's DGEN Sega Genesis and Mega Drive emulator for the PSP - and who've upgraded to a PSP Slim - can now rejoice: DGEN's v1.70 source code specifically for the PSP Slim is now out, thanks to homebrew developer Takka, who obviously heeded Syn-z's invitation to alter the code for his Sega Genesis and Mega Drive emulator.

DGEN v1.70 for the Slim is basically the same as the application for the PSP Phat. Other users even testify that the Slim's DGEN now works flawlessly with near full speed. However, there are some minor complaints like the screen placement not properly centered. Do try it out for yourself though, if only to relive your classic Sega memories.

Enjoy the download!

Great job guys! I really didn't think this would be possible on the Slim w/o 1.5 access, bravo!!

Now all we need is DGen 1.7 on Slim and I'll stop being a phat holdout. :)

I'm guessing this can run on phat PSPs as well (firmware 3.x+). I'm going to test it out, the improvements sound great.

Prime... I think you'd better buy a Slim now! Email me at *****guy@gmail.com. I've got a new slim with m33 for sale :D

why the hell do people KEEP porting stuff without adding the new full screen TV out source code FFS.

 » oh snap!

they edited my email address, lol. try spamaccount100@gmail.com to contact me for the premodded psp slim.

Anyhow, at seargent007: it's more of a proof of concept. They'll add full screen support later on, once they've got all the kinks fixed.

Ok, I don't want to seem like I'm griping, but here's some tips on stuff to fix:

a. The screen is a little off center when in full screen mode

b. The menu prompts blend in (like when you are saving a state. it made me think that maybe it was frozen)

c. There's still an issue with misplacement of sprites. For example, shinobi is the only game I play. in stage 2 (the level with the horse), the guys in the background appear in FRONT of you. I don't know a thing about making emulators, but I'm guessing it has something to do with the "sprite placement overlay"...

d. Speed is perfect. Also, everyone complains about sound, but to me, it's good enough.

e. ya, 32x and sega cd support would be nice.

f. buy my slim.

This calls for SONIC 2!

And it plays really well with 1 frameskip. I only wish we can get full speed later. since the source has been released we could pe=robably get other people helping out !

A friend of mine didn't want a slim because of sor2. gotta tell him lawl

I've noticed in Sonic 2 (probably in other sonic games too), when you roll into a ball, the Sonic/ball sprite is completely static. The same thing happens when you pick up a shield - the shield looks like a static, unmoving ring around Sonic.

Other than this, i think the port is fantastic!

That hardly makes it a bad game :)
