Max has written up a tutorial on converting DVD?s to PMP format for playing on the PSP, complete with all the tools needed:

In this post I will show you how I get my DVDs to play on PSP in best (IMHO) possible quality. Not the MP4 format that most of the PSP users know, but in PMP format which provides full screen video and much better quality. Make sure you've got PMP Mod at your PSP to watch those videos.

Check out the tutorial [here].

Thanks for the great tutorial, max. I was searching for a decent way to convert dvds to pmp format and this tutorial with the included software package makes doing so easy and painless.

While trying to convert one dvd, the program seems to keep starting over after adding the following text to the command prompt window: "a52: CRC check failed!" The dvd itself is in pristine condition and works properly so what could I be doing wrong here?

a1ph41337, For converting vob format to avi format, you could check out www.videohelp.com. That site does not seem to have anything that will convert directly to pmp player format but at least it should have some decent programs for converting between various other formats.

Correction: The program seems to continue normally after displaying the "CRC check failed!" error, but I am not sure about whether or not i should be too concerned about this issue.

Nice to see Max (wooolF) getting some recognition here. He's done a LOT of PMP encoding optimization over on the ps2dev forums and this is a great guide!
