Daedalus N64 Emulator

Man, the ball has been set rolling. And it keeps on going. After the release and an update, we have one more!

Like before, it might not run all your ROMs (legal, of-course) it's still good progress for N64 Emulation. And with PSMonkey collaborating with StrmnNrmn, you guys can look forward to even better emulation. For now, enjoy Daedalus R3. We've uploaded the 1.0, 1.5 versions, plus the source!

Release Notes:

Support for large (i.e. 8MB+) roms has been added, resulting in significantly more roms being able to boot. The same change also freed up around 6MB of memory which allows many roms to run for longer. A few new combiner modes were added which fixed a few graphical glitches in the roms that are running.

Changes:

[+] Added support for streaming in large roms on demand.

[+] Various combiner (graphics) fixes.

[ !] Fixed 120K wasted memory.

[~] Minor cosmetic (debug output) tweaks.

[~] Stopped debug output obscuring screenshots.

It will most probably work on 2.0 and above. Feel free to try. The single zip file contains the 1.0, 1.5 eboots and the source code. Thanks for the tip Erikku!

This is really a pipedream, no emulator on PC is any good so why would a PSP one be. He'll give up on it eventually like every other N64 emu programmer.

Don't believe me? The PC version is seriously flawed, and hasn't been updated since 2001.

 » WOW and Number 2

Great so the 2 Masters of N64 emulation are working together. This progress is wonderful! I can't wait to play Mario 64 (well i did but i got owned by the bomb-omb boss on the psp). Starcraft 64 will be also fun! Can't wait for Lylat wars to work well!

To number 2: i think it should work because it is User Mode not Kernel mode but who knows.

8786786, that's not entirely true, Project64 can run a huge library of N64 games perfectly fine.

 » SWEET!

This is friggin amazing. It runs on 2.0 and there has definitly been an increase in the game speed! I was sitting at the computer today thinking "Hmm it would be nice if we could have an update for that N64 emulator by the end of this month" Boy, I sure wasn't expecting this, one day after the first version was released! Good work you guys!

» In Response to Number 10

Apparently you have never used or heard of Project64. The last revision to it was v1.6 which was released on 2005-04-01. And they currently have a beta in progess. It works really well on the PCs. And the reason this n64 emulator is taking so long is because they are trying not to port an emulator but make one from the ground up so we dont have a shoddy emulator and thus far PSPMonkey64 is doing great and this emu is nice so now that both are working together it wont be long before we get a decent n64 emu.

Thats my 2 cents worth,

When we are cheering on them. You bet it is fun to program. KEEEEEP EM COMING

   by band-aid (Unregistered) - 2006-05-02
 » Very Possible

Its very possible that both N64 emu's will reach full speed and sound. The processors in the PSP and the N64 are very similar and i read that if tweaked properly it might get down as low as 1-3 instructions per instruction.

^^
Super Mario 64 is already on the DS- so hopefully they will focus more on starcraft and goldeneye. Maybe it will work fully in a year or 2. We can hope!
