Daedalus R10 - Image 1

Yes, we know what date it is. But aDcOoL and RomTheStampede both tell us that StrmnNrmn updates his blog for today to say that he's launched Daedalus R10. The files look legit, he even releases the source code under the GNU General Public License. And heck, he wanted it out end-of-March; it's only a few hours since March 31, right?

Here's the changelog:
  • [+] Added frameskip option.
  • [+] Added framerate limiting option.
  • [+] Added adjustable stick deadzone.
  • [+] Allow pause menu to be activated even when rom emulation has hung.
  • [!] Fix crash when no roms found, added explanatory message.
  • [!] Fix flickering when small number of roms found.
  • [^] Fix texture hash frequency check.
  • [^] Finally got code compiling with -O3 optimisation flag in GCC.
  • [^] Use VFPU for InvSqrt (thanks hlide!)
  • [^] Improved VFPU code for clipping and tnl (thanks Raphael!)
  • [^] Improved inlining of AddTri.
  • [^] Reduced time spent searching for overridden blend modes.
  • [~] Remove debug console in public release builds (smaller footprint and slight speedup.)
Download files below (jack-in-the-box not included), don't forget to read the Readme for all the important stuff, so StrmNrmn wishes everyone a happy retro portable gaming day, and we hope no one's replaced your PSP with a gigawatt taser as their prank for today...

Download: Daedalus PSP R10 for v1.50+ Firmware

 » Great Job

Who cares what anybody says on this website, anyone over the age of 14 with half a brain can figure out that StrmnNrmn is diligently providing the psp homebrew community with an amazing piece of software. Keep up the good work!! Can't wait for R11

   Re: cp (Unregistered) - 2007-04-01
 » Thanks!

Simply, simply amazing.
The speed improvements are great, and another step toward achieving full-speed n64 emulation.

A couple of games still don't work, but I'm sure that will be addressed in time. The frameskip option is great, and really does make a huge difference.

This emulator has really come a long way, and just keeps getting better. Thanks StrmnNrmn for developing one of the greatest homebrew applications for the PSP console! You truly are an asset to the homebrew community!

Starfox used to work great, now it locks up. Mario 64 is still the only game working properly and playable.
I hope R11 can finally get some decent compatibility. Only 5 N64 games work on this thing.

i think that the most important thing to work on is compatibillity...that and a multiplayer feature where they connect to play ad-hoc...i would love to play some classic games like super smash or mario kart with some of my friends

You know english to leave a semi-retarded question. Now their are no stupid questions, unless the person asking them doesn't bother to read anything about what he is downloading. It is people like you who end up bricking their PSPs by downloading anything with an appealing name. This is a work in progress so don't expect perfection just yet.

Love the update, man it has come along way, to think that it was thought impossible at one time. Simply remarkable, Mario 64 with frameskip at 1 plays lovely, little slow down here and there but none the less playable by far.

   Re: Phinsfan (Unregistered) - 2007-04-01
 » Uh, what?

For one, the only game that works worth anything is SM64. And that was re-released on the DS.
I can't see why he would be "pms"ing.
And I have a DS and PSP, and I happen to love both.

   Re: ... (Unregistered) - 2007-04-04

The "re-release" took one of the greatest games I have ever played, and turned it into a fruity $hit-fest.

so is there any more compatabiliy?

   by Alex (Unregistered) - 2007-04-01
 » I can't...

I can't get any of my Roms to run. Good attempt at making an emulator, but if the games don't run, why release it? I mean, I'm not trying to sound like a *****, but when Paper Mario doesn't run, what can really run?

Re: awesome job man (Unregistered) - 2007-04-01
 » idiots that complain

if you have time to post negative comments in any of these forums regarding the skill of a programmer, then you have plenty of time to get off your lazy ass and try to do something better. If you are incapable of bettering yourself and surpassing your own expectations, then just die you whiny pieces of human trash. ***** everyone that gives destructive criticism and praise everyone that gives useful constructive criticism. Honestly, I am very impressed that strmnrm has even been able to accomplish what was at one time in the not to distant past, an impossibility. Amazing job strmnrm, you are top notch, keep it up.

GREAT JOB!!

But not perfect. Anyway I downloaded the source tweaked a few lines and now I have ALL roms playing with sound and FULL frame rate.

I'll wait when Strmnmn gives up the project to implement this so I can take credit. Or I might even do a fork.

*goes out to enjoy full sounds, full frame rate n64 roms*

Just because of curiosity I checked the source and found many lines of code he wrote wrong (small mistakes) but after fixing all I could found (haven't checked the whole source, it's toomuch) I got a 20% speed increase!

   Re: SW (Unregistered) - 2007-04-03
 » PS3 emulator

I did that too, I opened the source and changed a few lines of code, and boum! I turned Daedalus into a PS3 emulator! All PS3 games work perfectly, full speed with sound, and the PSP also gains the useless ability to detect movements. I rule! I might release it, but I'm working on a way to emulate XBox 360 first. I think adding something like this should work:
printf("Hello, worldn");

PS: Moron -_-
