Daedalus R10 update

StrmnNrmn's got an update up on his blog regarding R10. According to his entry, he intends to keep his promise on releasing Daedalus R10 by the end of March. And with only but a night to go before we officially bid goodbye to March, we're thinking we could find R10 up and about by tomorrow. Hopefully.

Anyhow, StrmnNrmn says that R10 will be smaller than R9. However, you'll be sure to find some great improvements, such as an approximate 10 to 15% speedup, frameskip, framerate limiting and stick deadzone tuning, and various small bugfixes. He says that he's giving himself until Sunday afternoon to have everything readied at the latest.

Important to note also from this entry is that StrmnNrmn has said that the Expansion Pak support feature might not get to be included in R10. He says that although he's fixed that bug that's been keeping it from working, the obstacle now are the various memory issues it causes when enabled. And between delaying R10's release and forcing the Expansion Pak support,he'd rather have a go at R10 and disable the Pak support for now. Then he'll just make up for it by releasing R11 early.

So there. That's all the update there is for now. But keep it locked right here, cos we're sure updates will be trickling in quick on StrmnNrmn's update pretty fast. And thanks to Thunderstrike and dylstermanster for the tip!

Maybe it's just me, but I'm getting really tired of seeing "Daedalus" updates regarding how the emulator is coming along EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Personally, I'd rather just see the posts for ACTUAL RELEASES. That's just my preference, though...

At least I didn't say "FIRST POST" like a jackass.

Don't get me wrong, I very much appreciate StrmnNrmn's work on the emulator, and it's really coming along, but nonetheless...

The constant updates on QJ are just irritating. They come up every day while I'm anticipating a TANGIBLE RELEASE, which comes very rarely.

i was thinking the same "F" thing ... since release 1 came i was thinking i would be playing WWF No Mercy on my PSP.....I was cray about that idea....then one year later, QJ has posted 1,306,480 posts about Deadalus releases coming up....almost every day or maybe sometimes two times a day but there is never a release about that work.....then when you dont even hope about it, a release comes after that whole time, but no playable games due to very slow fps (1 to 3 on the begining). Then after the second and third releases i was thinking i would finnally able to play N64 on my PSP after two or three more releases, but no. Everyday however I get "news" form QJ for an "UPCOMING DAEDALUS R*" but its never there they again say "It's coming!!!!!!!!" but the fact is this, i will again be disapointed to see that N64 is again not playable on the PSP...so after all this worthless speach id like to please QJ to stop posting useless news on their site cuz its just the best one !

I fully respect your work on making a Nintendo 64 emulator to run on the PSP because it is just my dream to see N64 emulated on PSP. The problem I have is with some poor QJ posters, they really have no life and they are living on the Internet searching news to say i was first! omg !! 1st post and such crazy *****... i really have a problem with those...I have your blog in my Bookmarks and I check it when I feel like it but not everyday or even every hour and when you get a release for real, im the first one to get it in my PSP to test it......then....

TO QJ POSTERS .... tell me on PSPupdates and i will be so happy you had it first !!
(checking PSPUPDATES two times a day cuz they are the site to trust)

QJ is a news website, it carries all kind of news be it small, big, minor + major. let them work, after all its US daily consumers that benefits from their work of yeah copying every news available on the net and then some originals from them.

While I was searching for a N64 emulator for my pc I found an emulator called Ultimate 64 and it said for the psp, I tried it and it runs like 50%-200% faster than Daedalus and all the games I've tried up to now work!! (legend of zelda OT and Majoras, mario 64, oggrebattle, paper mario, gauntlet (although a bit slow), starfox, and F-zero). Still I've tried 2 japanese roms and both don't work so maybe japanese roms (earthbound 64 animal crossing) and don't work...

www.romhustler.net is a great site. it sounds pretty dark but it is legal. you can't get gba roms from it, it displays a message saying its illegal. I found all the games I was looking for there. They give you all versions, from japanese to european to hacked versions.

For Mario64 thats roughly 4 more fps!
For Zelda OOT, thats about 3!

Believe me, I've actually been playing this emulator alot. 3-4 FPS makes a very noticeable difference.

However, unlike some of these morons, i do realise how hard it is to write an N64 emulator, and that it will takw time. I have been able to play a helluva lot more on daedalus than just mario64, quest64 or rampage. Ever tried Forsaken 64? or Asteroids Hyper 64? or Chopper Attack? or AeroGuage? or Duke Nukem 64? or even StarFox 64?

Hey, i downloaded R9 but i didn't really play it cause i have mario 64 DS, and i really wanted to play yoshi story. but alas it wouldn't work.
so i was wondering if someone could list the games that will work with daedalus.

BTW i think this is an awesome App for PSP, if you don't like it then i suggest making your own homebrew. you should be greatful that people are even doing this. the PSP was not made to play N64 games yet StrmnNrmn is trying and has ome a long way.

The site is about updates to the psp, no matter what they are. on top of that, theres always that one person who didnt know this existed, and now is a follower of the project. you guys act like QJ is supposed to update on news that YOU want. theres ten times MORE people who want SMALL updates more then official.

Why does he give out half ass working versions/updates of Daedalus?
Simple 2 reasons:
1. testing. YOU discover bugs in games. he CANNOT play every game and search for every bug. so he needs OUR help.
2. That ONE game YOU want to play over all others, just may work realllllly good now. so that person would be satisfied. the unofficial release of R9 with frameskip ran mario decent. so this official R10 will run mario GETTING NEAR perfect. so people who wish to play mario only,now have a fully working emu for the game they want.

I for one would rather be able to play only 10% of games now, than 0%.
Again, this is PSPUPDATES....keyword UPDATES. not PSPOFFICIALRELEASES.QJ.NET.

Who cares if compatibility isn't that great as of now? I guarentee in about a year (by Christmas) this thing will have 100% fullspeed and 100% compatibility if he devotes enough time to it.

Don't read them!!!
Here is an idea, if your monkey brains can handle it. Put this address in your Firefox Live Bookmarks --> http://feeds.feedburner.com/QJ/PSP
Now you don't even have to look at the articles that seem to offend you so very greatly, and you can still check out the ones you want to read.
BTW, there are a few N64 games worth playing. I'm looking forward to this release. Thanks StrmnNrmn!

I would have to agree with alot of the comments on here...let's see you make a better emulator. He is doing the best he can with out breaking his own wallet. Has anyone offered to pay him for his efforts...hmmmm ..I don't think so. Yes I am anxious for R10 and yes a little dissappointed that it's still not here, but R9 is not that bad and there is always an improvement. Soo..... instead ofsaying first or @#@@@^$% this or ***** that how about just relaxing and using our PSP's for good for instanceI just found out how to download comic books to the psp!! I also listen to music, watch movies play games from my atari, nes, gb, gb colour, gba, nes. snes, neo geo, cps1, mvsp. genesis emulators as well as read books on it. Oh by the way I also spend time with my wife, 3 kids and work for the phone company as well. So keep up the great work, I for one appreciate what you and QJ Net do for all psp users everywhere.
