StrmnNrmn has released a new version of the hottest, and most anticipated emulator today. Daedalus R7 (Release 7) contains a nice speed increase over the previous version of R6 and also is the host to a new configuration system that will allow users to map the PSP buttons to the configuration/setup they have been dreaming of.

Many have complained that the PSP does not have enough buttons to emulate the Nintendo 64 console, but others like myself have pointed out that not all buttons are used in every game. So, if you are playing a game that have different layouts, you can easily change the configuration of the buttons before you start playing that game.

Aside from the button mapping feature, this new release features an average speed increase of 25-30% from the previous release. You can read the full change log below and see a video that I compiled of this new release. The video shows Super Mario 64 with tessellate large tris enabled and disabled. You will also see Mario Kart 64 which runs at 10fps in the game with large tris disabled (for performance). So, if you are like me and must have the latest, and the greatest emul

Why does it leave a massive tmp file after playing a game in Daeldus folder? Shouldn't it delete itself afterwards

» QJ didnt find this on their own

QJ i sent you a tip about this before strmnnrmn even had this on his blog, i was refeshing the sorceforge page over and over againh untill it came up, i was first to get the news and first to give you the news, i notified you before it was posted evn on strmnnrmn's blog so i think i shopuld have some credit for god sakes, its things like this that stop people from posting news to you, maby thats why your so slow, why dont you try showing some appriciation

wow, you can really see the speed increase! freaking amazing for mario 64. I will try Zelda in a minute.

   by jeffy777 (Unregistered) - 2006-08-13

YES! It's great to see this progression.

@17 It's cool that you want to help get the word about, but as far as credit goes: Get over it. You didn't make this emulator, so you really don't deserve credit for anything. They would have found out about this release with or without you.

@20, it was slow the first time I tried it but i refreshed and it was all good. @17, I agree, QJ has been guilty of this a few times. You should get credit.

If Strnmnnmn or whatever the hell his name is get this to 30fps with Sound, savegames and sleepmode. I would be completely happy. Infact, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between that and full speed.

 » PSP to slow

I like all emulators, and I like the idea to emulate the Nintendo64. But also with this new release, the games are still too slow. And if the speed is optimized, what's about the sound? I think the PSP is too weak and to slow for an Nintendo64 Emulator... If it isn't, sorry my post... But anyway, good work and maybe next month, next release, will be faster and better? :-)
