DeNitro and Devin923 from our forums have released PSPRevolution ? an amazing new game for the PSP. It is very simple to play, you just press the directional buttons in sync with the beat, but it is very addicting. This is the most fun homebrew game I have played in a long time guys, I am very impressed. Good work!! PSP Revolution is based off the popular game Stepmania and is compatible with Stepmania (.SM) and Dance With Intensity (.DWI) song files. To install additional songs, copy them into pack folders in "pspgamepsprsongs" just as you would in Stepmania. Check out a video of PSPRevolution in action [here] (DivX, 3mb). |

im a nub for this but after i downLoad the file i open it with winrar to extract files and i drag it into game in psp but when i try to open it it says corrupt data. can sum 1 help??
wow... REALLY impressive...
You know, you gotta acknowledge that there are lots of talents out there.. and for a moment I thought I was playing DDR from Konami for real.
Excellent job you guys!!
This is by FAR the most perfect homebrew i've seen, i actually can't belive the quality of this game, it's like it is a copy of a real game, freakin' perfect, GREAT JOB!!
(i suck at this, but im still freakin' lovin' it!!)
One thing that I noticed was that most of my Stepmania files were actually BMS files (?) so when I used STEPMANIA to save them as a dwi and SM file and put it on the PSP it would speed up the song alot. Dunno why thats happening. Also has stated before all the dwi files (ones I didnt convert in stepmania) were off timmed in the emulator but not in stepmania. I other than that though the songs that came with it played well. I hope to see the emu grow alot.
Wow, this is absolutely amazing. I'm real impressed with how far an SM sim has come so far. I can't wait for a full version to be developed, with a wheel for song selecting, a mod selection screen, the works. =P I'm a huge SM player with some 2,300 songs in my stock so far, and I'm also one of the best one-handers around, so this is great. The button's are gonna take some getting used to, though. Well, I'll be off for some real DDR here soon, so keep up the good work!
guys can you please help? im currently having problems making this work on my psp v2.0. i did everything from downloading the 0.8.05 loader to renaming the pspr folder to psprevol but then again it goes to a blue screen and says fail.wav failed or something. i think fuziontab and i have the same problem. anyone there willing to help me?
This is ironic, but November 18, the day that they told us all that PSPRevolution was available for download, was also my birthday. Well, I didn't find this until yesterday, but I'd like to thank DeNitro and Devin923 for the *belated* birthday present. Seriously, though, you guys did an extreme job on this game. I can't wait for the next version!
this program might actually get me to buy another PSP, so I can keep 1.5, heck ill buy a giga and switch memory cards so ill have a GB of DDR, (oh man but im broke...) so far the only problem is when songs stop in the middle like in Tsugaru, where the song stops and so does the arrows for like hlakf a second well the prgram doesnt relize this and it keeps going so after that all the steps are a little off. Besides that w00t thank you i love this program for the PSP
which pack is that song in?
Somehow, when I put my simfiles in the folder (songs/DDR 5th/ and all the song's folders), the game adds both mix folder but freeze as soon as I try to select it :(
wow im VERY impressed for homebrew the quality beats most sony dev's i alost believed i was playing a konami game.the games awesome little to no bugs. i hope the next release gives song demo's in the selection screen and some music cuz it was TOO quiet in the menu's i missed the announcer lol. but awesome work denitro and devin.
This is great!
I've played this game and it rocks!
Like I said on the forum, I found why the game crashes: if the banner for the mix/song doesn't have the exact dimension of 256x80, the game will crash. Delete the banner or change the size in photoshop.
Great work guys!
compatible for 2.0???
i have been trying to use it with the eboot loader
and i get a blue screen with an error saying
I regret to inform you file ms0:/psp/game/PSPR/EBOO./sounds/fail.wave
failed with error file failed
thats exactly what it says
werid huh....
Wow. Just wow.
This makes my BMR look like it was made by a first grader....
Very good job!
(Although I think I started the whole 'wavy' score deal. I know it was in DDR, but I think I gave others the idea to use it instead of a different score design)
FINALLY!!!! One thing before I download this. Does this play with sound during the game? I'm going to try it out anyway.
anyone know how to get this running with 2.0 eboot loader? I've been waiting for a PSP DDR forever lol. maybe I'll downgrade later and try it out. In the meantime, someone try to see if they can get it running on a 2.0!----Loftor
THE BEST HOMEBREW GAME BY FAR. LOOKS LIKE A REAL PSP GAME. IT IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST. I cant put it down since I download the game. DeNitro and Devin923 did the best job, please release more tracks for download, if you guys already have or anyone know of where we can download more songs then just the 6 provided now (they are GREAT, dont get me wrong). Thanks again DeNitro and Devin923, keep up the good work.
this game is soooooo awsum, i play ddr and stepmania a lot...BTW if DeNitro and Devin923 read this, there are only 3 real problems in the game tht need to be fixed:
-scrolling thru the song menus is a must have
-sync issues with sound and steps
-when a stop is marked in a song such as "Healing Vision: Angelic Mix" or "Max 300", the notes do not stop
other than that, i would have to say that this is by far the best homebrew game that i have ever played
p.s. if u need an eboot loader for firmware 2.0, u can get it here fanjita they also provide a list of known working eboots, its very helpful
this is great!
Doesn't work with most official step files: The song always starts two bars (one?) early, so that the entire song is off, and the fact that you need to resize the bg images kills it. The custom ones made for the wide screen cut off most of their own bg, and the ones that come from previous packs are completely misaligned. Aside from that, everything's smooth, aside from the lack of the song selection scroll.
holy ****!!!! thanks thanks thanks now i wont have to waste any hard drive space for stepmania now i can put them to my psp. WOOT!!
also cant wait for full version like that one guy said with sound playback while you choosin song and such.
where can i get a program that extracts .sm files?
SAWEET!!!!! I LOVE IT! Thx DeNitro and Devin923!!
Best homebrew to date.
where can you get compatible songs?
CAn someone make a pack of songs that we can easily put onto the psp. i download songs from the stepmania site but it wont run without a mp3.....
well for song packs u can go to any p2p network like limewire and download the stepmania songpacks just search for programs and put in stepmania or ddr as a keyword nothing more and u should get atleast the first 8 mixes easy. but remember for them to work for psp u have to resize the little banner images in each song to 256x80 or lower. or if ithats too hard just do a search in the main song folder for images and do a mass delete of the banners and your done.
i think they desserve a nice donation for this before sony tries and snatch them up to release their own stepmania lol.
Answers to Questions
Hey, I decided to answer some of the questions becuase I know things in this area.
fuziontab: I dont believe that it will work for 2.00 (I haven't tested it.)
OomSha: Yes, it does play music for each song that you pick, but so far, there isn't any BGM during menu screens.
IntegTypeR: You don't extract the sm files if you u haven't figured it out yet, just place both of the "PSPR & PSPR%" folders in the PSP-->GAME directory. You can also add songs by placing them in an album folder and placing the album folder into the Songs folder within the "PSPR" Folder.
Also as a note for the people who aren't accustomed to using Step Mania, the best place that I know of to get songs for this is to go to DDRUK.com or
'http://www.ddruk.com/downloads.php?subcat=57' which is a direct link (without the quotes of course). This site only has it's downloads via bittorrent. It has a Direct Download Section but as far as I know, it's down. It also arranges it's song downloads by the albums so you can't just download the individual song. You have to download the whole think.
^ sorry if that was a bit long ^_^
Also as a restatement,

Great work guys!

Ransent: hey, glad to see another pro at this besides me.
DeNitro and Devin923: if you're reading this,
Thanks for this release and I'm hoping that you guys could improve these glitches that I noticed:
-The freeze arrows don't change colors during execution.
-The freeze arrows must be held all til the end, in the real game, you can jsut get close to the end and release it early to hit the next arrows faster.
-When playing Healing Vision-2MB, the game and music didn't freeze at that one point in the game.
-The steps seem to only come up after a given time. This might be fixed by delaying the playback by two seconds. Some song I played were missing the first few steps and that's how I noticed this.
-i can't remember the rest so w/e not that important.
Hope I helped out all your problems

I downloaded some new songs for the game and got them on my psp and everything....but when I go into the game it has them on there but when I press X to play them they don't work. How do I fix this?
