Dark AleX has released a quick follow-up to CFW 5.00 M33, which updates the fatmsmod patch. Apparently, Sony renamed one of its files, causing fatmsmod to stop working. Here are the dev notes from the man: Just a little update to the fatmsmod patch, it stopped working in 5.00 due to a sony file changing its name. Instructions: decrypt 3.71 using psardumper (square option). Copy the file fatmsmod.prx in the root of memory stick. Copy FATMS371 to /PSP/GAME or /PSP/GAME5XX. Run the program and done. Thanks to Alexey86i for the tip! Download: 3.71 Fatmsmod patch for 5.00 Related Articles: |

» It's mainly for ISO/CSO
Some people have noticed that the newer firmwares play ISO/CSO's worse. If you don't notice it, then you don't really need it.

I sort of flashed the wrong fatmsmod.prx and semi bricked my PSP :P

» It has it's ups and downs
3.71 fatmsmod will load and run games (homebrew, umd and Iso/cso) much faster but the read speed while in the xmb is noticeably slower than the driver used in 5.00 officially. Icons in the game section on the xmb are slower to be displayed. If that's not a bother anyone I'm sure this is definitely worth installing.

» What?
I don't know why your PSP sucks, but with mine it's the opposite. It speeds up everything INCLUDING the XMB.

» Really?
About the only thing fatmsmod has been shown to do since 3.90 is increase XMB loading speed. On my system, fatmsmod makes the icons load MUCH faster than the 5.00 plugins.

» same as PimpFriedRice
I noticed no lag or long loading or anything when i updated, then i installed the fatsmod and my xmb also runs slightly slower such as the game icons being displayed. Iso's run the same as far as i can tell.

» Filer 5.6
Filer 5.6 kernel 3 crashes when using this on a 4GB/8GB card. Files works fine when launched from 512MB, then you can swap to a 4GB/8GB to access the files.
It works fine with the 5.00 fatmsmod.

I have found ms performance in 5.00 to be excellent, and this is from someone who didn't move to 380,390 without the mod and didn't even end up updating to 401 because of the ms performance. I guess I'll try patching 500 and see if there is a difference.

» I semi-bricked my psp!
I updated my psp to 5.00, then got hold of the fatmsmod.prx, which I thought to be the correct one, I placed the damn thing in the roon of the memory stick then ran the Fatsmod. Poof! psp is now bricked..... good thing I still have my magic stick hehehehe.

» what are you guys talking about?
I don't know where all you guys are getting your info, but I'm seeing some pretty odd claims here.
What this patch is for is that Sony changed to a new memory stick management prx around 3.80/3.90 that was giving people a lot of problems when accessing their memory sticks. Things like ridiculously slow read/write speed when transferring files to/from your PSP etc.
DA basically pulled the prx from the previous FW before the change and patched it to the newer FW to solve the problem.
This update is because he realized that they changed the name of that particular prx, so it wasn't automatically switched out during the 5.00 update because the updater was searching for a different named file to modify.

» I'm a NOOB and need help.
Every website I go to says "decrypt 3.71 using psardumper (square option)" but never explain how or what that means. I know it's stupid to ask but how do you decrypt 3.71. If anyone could help out with this I would appreciate it greatly because I want to try this program as I have a 8 gb micro card with an adapter that doesn't play games well.
