Hmm, that was fast! Dark AleX has already released CFW 5.00 M33-2, despite his earlier guesstimate of being able to release it by Thursday. The new CFW includes some of the popcorn fixes he's talked about earlier, but as for a detailed account on its specific changelog, here we go: Changes:
Download: CFW 5.00 M33-2 *Article originally posted... like, ten minutes ago. *Updatye* What the--?! Well now, I didn't even have time to blink there. Dark AleX has now also released the latest version of the Popsloader app! As he states, this is the "popsloader for 5.00 M33-2 and up (until Sony screws it again)." Nice. Notes from DAX:
Upgrade from older version of popsloader:
Install from scratch:
Thse are the files needed for each firmware:
Copy the files to /seplugins/popsloader with firmware version as suffix (e.g. popsman.prx -> popsman380.prx) Download: Popsloader for 5.00 M33-2 Related articles:

People should realize (in case they ignored the changelog) that network update won't work for this release. You need to manually download and install it.

after upgrading with the easy installer to get the ps store working...
http://pspupdates.qj.net/PSP-homebrew-5-01-for-5-00-M33-Easy-Installer/pg/49/aid/125245
...then updating to 5.00 m33-2, the playstation store no longer works. trying to use the easy installer again on top of m33-2 gives "update has already been installed. returning to xmb".
so, do not use the stupid easy installer to get access to the ps network... just wait for official DAX updates.

Yes, well your fw is still 5.00 no matter what easy installer does. DAX will need to release 5.01M33(small update like this one probably) for us to be able to access PS store

After upgrading to m33-2 i can no longer access PSN. Hopefully DAX fixes this soon because i was thinking of buying a couple PS 1 games.

You need to put FW 5.01 on your memory stick. Run psardumper and dump firmware 5.01. From there, take the version.txt that you just dumped, and use that to REPLACE the version.txt that you have on your system.
That's taking the version information from OFW 5.01 and applying it 5.00 m33. The version.txt that's already on you 5.00 m33 is just that--version info for 5.00 m33. PSN won't let you access the store if your system shows version 5.00.

I thought it was very clear myself... get the 5.01 update and dump it using psardumper... take the version.txt file from that (which will be the same filepath in the dumped firmware as the place you'll be putting it in your flash0) place the 5.01 version.txt into your flash0 at the location DAX specified.
You people are a bit slow sometimes... of course its already there... the CURRENT version.txt from 5.00... think about something before you say it... you REPLACE the 5.00 version.txt that is already there with the version.txt from 5.01. I suppose someone is going to say that my instructions aren't clear either... *sigh*

for those that know how to extract 5.01 firmware, what is the contents of the version.txt file so that i can enable the "use version.txt" feature? this is what mine reads and apparently it doesn't fool the ps store...

copy that INTO version.txt?? that's where i got it FROM!
anyway, i disabled M33 network update and was then finally able to access the ps store again, thanks!
this is a lesson learned to only apply DAX updates and to be patient.

here's what i did to get it working (i first updated to 5.01m33-2):
- download the official 5.01 firmware
- copy the eboot.pbp (from the 5.01 offical firmware) to the root of the memory stick
- get the PSAR-dumper for 5.00 by Dark Alex
- run the PSAR-dumper and choose the option to decrypt everything
- connect the PSP to the PC and locate the 'F0' folder that was created by the PSAR-dumper on your MS
- go to folder 'F0vshetc' and copy version.txt to your desktop
- disconnect from PC and shutdown PSP (keep holding the power button untill PSP is switched off)
- reboot PSP in recovery mode (hold R-trigger and power button for about 5 seconds)
- go to 'advanced' and select 'Toggle USB (flash0)'
- the 'flash0' folder will now be visible in your explorer: you will see three folders ('dic', 'font', 'vsh')
- still in explorer, go to the folder 'vshetc'
- you will see the version.txt file there, rename it to version.old.txt and move it to your desktop
- copy the version.txt from the dumped 5.01 (on your desktop) to the folder 'vshetc', overwriting the old version.txt
- select 'Toggle USB (flash0)' on your PSP to disconnect from PC
- select 'Back'
- select 'Configuration'
- disable the M33 network update
- select 'Back' to reboot PSP

Yea I honestly don't see whats so difficult about replacing the version.txt files.....a lot of people seem to be having trouble with it but I think its because they don't think that it would actually be this easy (Ironic Ha!). Also make sure that you DISABLE m33 network update or else you wont connect to PSN Store. And no you don't have to officially update your psp or anything.... Just do exactly what eddib instructed and you should have no issues.

» Disable M33 Update
Once this was done, ps store was available again, however this was mentioned origianlly, and i think that's why people were having problems.
What is interesting, is that if I have that off, and have versions.txt option off as well, I can still log in to the store after updating the versions.txt with the one from 5.01.
So the question is, what actually does the enable/disable versions.txt do?

» CFW question
I've got DA 3.30OE firmware currently on my PSP fat, am I able to put these new CFW 5.00 M33-2 firmwares on my PSP?
Also my other question does 1.50 based homebrew still work under CFW 5.00 or do I need to find >3.00 versions of the homebrew apps I run. (ScummVM, CPS2 emulator).
Only reason I'm thinking of updating is that that Open BOR says it needs a fairly recent firmware to run.
Sorry for a kinda n00b question, I got quite deep into this when I modded my firmware but haven't kept updating and don't know what firmwares run on what now.

I forget which firmware you need before you can go straight to 5.00 M33. It's 3.71 M33-(some update) or 3.52 M33-(some update). Yes you can run 1.50 homebrew after you install the 1.50 Kernel Addon, only for Phat.

Everyone knows that when you create the EBOOTs of multidisc games you are supposed to use the same GameID/SaveID so those EBOOTs will share the same virtual memory cards.
