PSP Slim - Image 1Dark AleX has released a new updated version of the Despertar del Cementerio universal unbricker. This particular unbricker works for both the Slim and Fat models of Sony's PlayStation Portable handheld video game console.

According to Dark AleX, this new update is mainly to support the PSP Slim's screen in the mixed 1.50/3.40 kernel used during recovery. This is also a pretty big step towards 1.50 kernel support in the PSP Slim since the main problem - the screen - is now fixed. Here's a full changelog:

  • Coded a display driver that supports the psp slim screen in the mixed 1.50/3.40 kernel.
  • The M33 installation will install 3.71 M33-2, not 3.71 M33
The download's below. Please remember to read the bundled readme file before using this homebrew app. You can also hit the Visit link below to discuss this release on our PSP Development Forums.

I've confirmed that this guy is using this unbricker. Now, if only he'd update his listings page :D

 » Awesome!

Thanks Dark AleX. You are the bee's knees.

I don't suppose you are working on a Non-Pandora way to get homebrew on the Slim, are you? A lot of us would be eternally grateful for that.

Again, great work, man.

   Re: LordSturm - 2007-10-04
 » Eh.

Just get your hands on a friend with a normal PSP, and do him the favour of enhancing his PSP, then do the same for your own.

Don't just lie there in wait, it's hopeless. :(

The Hideo Kojima of the Homebrew World, seriously, I thought he was leaving after his final update like 3 updates ago! :P It's like Hideo Kojima who said MGS2 was going to be his last! Hmm, maybe DAX is secretly Hideo!

But not the ME version, and everything involving mode7 (FF3, Chronotrigger, F-Zero, etc etc) runs significantly faster on the ME version..

Dgen 1.7 was already ported to the slim

Do you have a PHD in this stuff or what? Or at least a Master's? You're the Aaron Giles of the PSP world, and that says a lot because I wish I had HALF the programming mind he does. I'd shine your shoes (or his) with my tongue just to be able to spend a weekend watching you program and see how the heck you figure this stuff out!

Don't ever quit because... there isn't anybody left who doesn't praise you!

Very nice update, however, my fat will never leave 3.52 M33-4 and Slim will never see anything above 3.60 M33 unless custom (homebrew) themes have been sorted out.

This is incredible. Just when I think you can't release something more than your last project, something 10+times more amazing is released by you. Keep it up man, you'll have the PSP Slim completely patched for the 1.50 kernel in no time :)

Another step towards 1.50 kernel on the slim ehh?

die, jack thompson! playing video games do not make us want to reenact them! if you dare to compare violence to video games, i will step next to you, within sweeping distance, and press forward, down, forward, and press A so that I can rip off your head, just like subzero does. just to prove that video game violence is not emulated by us.

 » it works

i restored default settings, and made another magic stick. this time 3.71 official installed last time flash1 was screwed up so it would freeze right after the cold boot.

what exactly do you mean by "it doesn't work?"
Your brain perhaps?

it works perfectly fine. and what can you do by going to playstation? Install the official firmware? You're in the wrong place buddy.

   by Drake56 - 2007-10-05
 » firmware

for the smart people it doesnt work im telling ya dont try it it will jack your system up unlike some people(urherenow) but all you have to do is to go to playstation got it!

   by Drake56 - 2007-10-05
 » urherenow

look man you shouldnt im smarter just dont go and get your brain checked you might find some dust under there. but any ways i can tell anyone how to get as well but not for urherenow. and one last thing go to school urherenow and everything will work all for the better!!!!

   Re: natalic - 2007-10-05
 » Stupid people

You probably don't even have any form of homebrew enabled. You probably copied the PBP to an official 3.71 and said "IT DOESN'T WORK"...God as for getting brains checked, you're first in line.

   Re: urherenow - 2007-10-06
» just when you think people couldn't get any dumber...

and Idiot on a web forum whips out the Ph.D. is retarded. Not only does it work (if you have more than 3 brain cells to figure it out) it's the best damn firmware there ever was! The only thing you get from sony is official firmware that won't let you run homebrew code. Let's see what I play on my PSP:
PSP games, PS1 Games, Movies, Pictures, music... ok perhaps you've figured that much out
now theres:
NES, SNES, N64, ATARI, Commodore 64, CPS2 and a few other arcade machines, Sega Genesis, a universal remote control...

no need to list more. You go ahead and get your crap from the playstation web site and do any of those things.

Go back to school? Heh... I probably graduated from school before you were born, dip *****

 » pwned sauce

by the way, guys, drake56 is what we call a troll. he knows perfectly well how to run this app, but he just wants to get some attention by getting replies from other forum members. He (maybe even she) is not getting enough positive attention in real life, so he/she is willing to act stupid to get attention here (even if it's negative, and even if it's for a forum). So, just ignore him/her, and he/she'll go away.

 » natalic

you jay. you're first in line for brain checking. go get a life. for your information i do have the homebrew. look, go find a hobby or something! your the one thats retarted and second of all you dont know what i did at playstation.

   by sawtryboy - 2007-10-05
 » Works

Install can be tempremental but it does work. Install and if you get the sony logo followed by nothing enter recovery mode and delete/reset Flash 1....

   by urherenow - 2007-10-06
 » thanks sawtry...

now that I think about it, that could be a reason for Drake being such an idiot about all of this. He doesn't have the capacity to figure out that you need to format flash 1.
and Drake... about this "you dont know what i did at playstation" I know you're too young and stupid to have ever worked for SONY Because, again, anyone with half a brain who actually worked there would say "you have no idea what I do at Sony!" Not at Playstation. Playstation is not a place... lol And... a Sony employee wouldn't admit on an open forum to having homebrew on his/her PSP.. or since you said "what I DID at playstation", perhaps you did work there but were so stupid they had to fire you.

   Re: Drake56 - 2007-10-06
 » urherenow

wow. i didnt know that someone who graduated out of school before me would have such limited vocabulary as to step down and cuss like that. you sure are smart(sarcasticly speaking). and plus i dont work at sony at all genius. enough of this already and why dont you just grow up and go back to school because unfortunately you sound like you were a highschool dropout. If your way worked for you .....MORE POWER TO YA!!!!!! dip *****!

   Re: SCLakitu - 2007-10-06
 » Drake56

And you are quite the eloquent speaker yourself right? Stop acting smart when you can't even use proper punctuation or capitalization. Also, you're a hypocrite. Talking about someone cursing when you curse yourself, even in your same exact post.

3.71 M33-2 is DIFFERENT from official firmware. It allows the ability to run unsigned code, homebrew (as in, games made by the PSP fanbase), ISOs, plugins, theme customization and XMB hacks, and many more things. It's way better than official firmware will ever be. So stop preaching about how official firmware is better, because in the homebrew scene it will fall on deaf ears.

   Re: urherenow - 2007-10-06
 » SCLakitu

speaking of punctuation... why does your posts with apostrophies look normal? Every time I use them they get a backslash in front of them. just to test again: can't

   Re: urherenow - 2007-10-06
 » nevermind

when I leave and come back the backslash is gone. so wierd...

   Re: iamback(unregistered) - 2007-10-09
 » apostrophes

Yes, I too have the backslash issue. But, it goes away, so I've decided to ignore it. It's probably bad programming on behalf of pspupdates.qj.net

» Use this as a downgrader?

If i replaced the 371.PBP in the root directory with 351.PBP or 352.PBP, would Despertar del Cementerio install that instead of 3.71?

I had all these nice homebrew apps (PDA, PSPoste, pikey) running on 3.52 and they don't seem to work under 3.71 now. I can't figure out any way to downgrade back to 3.52.

Thanks!

   by urherenow - 2007-10-07
 » no need to downgrade

But you can do it using the original pandora. Just use that to install the partial 1.5 and install 3.52 m33 then update3 then update4. What you really NEED to do is install the 1.5 patch V2. With that installed everything that works in other firmwares will work in this one.
