Ó

PSP Dark AleX - Image 1Dark AleX has finally released what he was promising a few days back: the 1.50 kernel addon for 3.71 M33. It's here, and it's mighty, and we're reeling in shock.

Installation instructions are pretty easy and straight forward. They're found in the readme so you better take a look at that. Also, please note that this homebrew hack is only for PSP Fat. As DAX puts it in the readme: "The program will reject PSP Slim, due to the 1.50 kernel not working on it."

While everyone is rejoicing for this release, a rather bitter after taste has settled among some members of the homebrew community. One simple question is whispered among the crowd: does this mean Dark AleX is quitting?

When he/M33 released the CFW v3.71, DAX promised two last releases:

  1. the universal unbricker for PSP Fat and Slim
  2. and this one, the 1.50 kernel
So is the great DAX finally leaving the scene? Well... For now, we have this. And we should be thankful. Count your blessings and forever thank the homebrew developer.

Further info on the kernel can be found or discussed about in the forum link below. If you need any help or come across any problems (or just feel a sudden urge to wail about your woes on DAX leaving), the homebrew community will always have an ear.

for those who cant understand the read me.

place the update folder in your game folder
download 1.5 update and rename to 150.eboot and place in root of memory card
excute program*note this will remove the location free player and koren font*

already tested out on all my 1.5 homebrew and works like a charm.

 » 1.5 kernal ?

can you make a pandora battery?

   Re: dapaperclip - 2007-09-30
 » YES YOU CAN

You could have mad a pandora batter without the patch, there is already a 3xx pandora creator, also tested it and it works.

Re: Mister Common Sense - 2007-10-01
 » no!

But I use my location free player and Korean fonts all the time! [sarcasm]

just wanted to point out, you can already make the pandora battery without the patch, there is already a 3.xx pandora creator out. I've tested it and it works.

Nice to see that the thing has finally been released, too bad it's the last release through. Already tested it and it works great with all of my stuff.

As it says in the readme just put your 150 eboot nameb 150.pbp into the root folder of the psp and the UPDATE installed into the GAME folder.

Thanks

we cant use 1.5 themes. something with 3.71 makes it so we cant. but hey we got sonys offical themes that dont brick atleast

whats the advantages of this then?

the homebrew?

   Re: Advertising -

   Re: pepinux - 2007-09-30

Themes have nothing to do with 1.5 firmware. Themes depends on a few plugins of the target firmware.... that's the reason we have themes targeting 3.30OE, 3.40OE,3.52M33 and we don't have a theme for all versions... please don't talk about something you don't know...

There aren't themes fully compatible with 3.71M33 but that's not DA work...

How do I do this? Should I do this?

yes you should. if u dont use custom themes*homebrew themes* then you should. u can use sony themes on here and they are pretty good.

   Re: kaliraver69 - 2007-09-30
 » upgrade time

You got to upgrade to 3.52 M33-3 or 4 first. Then upgrade to 3.71 M33 enjoy :)

Re: Mister Common Sense - 2007-10-01
 » why upgrade?

M33 3.52 v4 is perfectly fine for me because it supports popsloader. Popsloader gives you better PS1 game compatibility.

 » Question

Well, make that two questions:

1) What are kernal files/what do they do?

2) I have PSP 3.51 M33, would it work on that?

   Re: Chaoticgamer - 2007-09-30
 » umm..

First kernal files are what modify the PSP into using programs like homebrew and CFW updates.

Second update to 3.52 M33-3/4 then update to 3.71 m33 then apply this 1.50 patch.

   Re: Ram_Chow - 2007-09-30
 » One more bit

Thanks buddy. There was actually one more thing I forgot to ask:

Is there a high chance, if any at all, of it bricking my PSP?

   Re: duane - 2007-10-01
 » re

Kernel files do not 'modify' the psp but rather, ARE the psp. More technically, the kernel files are the operating system of the psp.

By installing this 1.50 kernel update, you're basically installing the 1.50 kernel subset over the 3.71 kernel superset to alow 1.50 homebrew to be used on m33 3.71. Thats basically how all of the CFWs work :) FYI

   Re: duane - 2007-10-01
 » @ Ram_Chow

There's always a tiny chance of bricking your psp, whenever you write to flash. Even if you are using official firmwares. But thats only if you pull the ac plug with insufficient battery or pull the battery out oO. Don't do that and you'll be okay.

The update wont work anyway if you have insufficient battery (70% I think). There is a way to bypass this but I forgot how and even if I knew I wouldn't tell. It may lead to bricking.

I'll wait for a few of you overzealous materialists to brick before I consider installing this. :)

 » PSX GAMES

Chaoticgamer, i tried Resident Evil 2 and 3 on my PSP, none of them worked with 3.71 M33...and by that i mean both of them froze at the intro screen. (i had all my plugins removed and disabled them.. still no luck)

now i'm on 3.52 M33-4 and now they work excellent...thats pretty weird ...

   Re: Ram_Chow - 2007-09-30
 » RE 2

Damn I wish I had it on PS1. I woulda made an EBOOT out of it. I have it on N64 :(

Oh and speaking of which, you should give making your own EBOOTs a shot, they work 100% for me and I'm running 3.51 M33
