Sony PlayStation Portable homebrew developer Dark AleX has certainly contributed a lot to the handheld homebrew scene, and his latest project is certainly looking to be quite the contribution indeed. Introducing the Time Machine, a handy app that installs the 1.50 kernel onto your PSP Slim. Yes, that's what it does, and there's a video to prove it, too! |

omg, that is the only thing that is keeping me from getting a slim. now, definitely. good work DAX!!!
btw, first!
:O
im gonna get this on my friends psp slim, btw i saw this first on my psp but i obviuosly couldnt comment
wow.......................... I must admit that I'm amazed. Even the mighty pandora was not enough to amaze me, as awesome as it was. Dark Alex, you have truly made me awe inspired.
I think I'm going to try this on the PSP that
www.swatcash.com/admin
gave me. Woo hoo! I can finally use it for something useful :D
Great! so how hard will it be to use and when will it come out?
soo .. do we need to have 1.5 firmware on the psp slim or does it matter what firmware we currently have, cause i had a phat and i had all the homebrews but i got it wet and it never worked properly after that, so anyways, i have the latest psp slim firmware on my psp, will i be able to use this ?
this guy is amazing... thanks DaX!
This right here makes the slim better than the original. Guess I need to upgrade to slim.

I have a fat PSP and have played on the slim before. But I still prefer a fat psp.
1. I find that the slim, because it is flat, doesn't have a nice hold on it. And it feels much more like a piece of plastic like the DS.
2. The UMD drive looks like crap
3. No IR
4. Less battery power
But still, great work Dark-Alex! You made my jaw drop when I read this!
I guess I sell my old psp.
that definitely gonna come in handy
o wow o wow
this is amazing!!!!
Holy *****, i think i just came O_O
lol but seriously, GREAT WORK DaX!!! i doubt your reading this, but GREAT WORK!!!!
cant wait.... i want to stop using this eloader thing. keep up the good work DA
that's awesome. this was my reason for not going with custom firmware. unfortunately, i upgraded my psp yesterday =( because I didnt think it was possible to have 1.5 kernel on a slim. i guess i'll have to wait for 3.91 or whatever.
I knew someday this would happen. It's one of the things that I've been waiting for. 1.5 kernel, now all homebrew will run.
sony made the slim(to be in the same league as ds lite but also) to stop homebrew, and for a while the need for 3.xx kernal HB was needed for slim, but with this, when its out, the slim will be the ultimate psp out on the market, if something like this can be done(even tho the mobo shouldnt support 1.50 kernal, then the new ta85v2 will be able to make pandora soon aswell, so no one will be left out, sony should give up all there atempts have failed ever since the name psp was anounced it had the name HACKED on it lol they should welcome homebrew and make money off it, that would be a smart move, like xna, ms actualy publish some homemade games on MP
i hope dax stays for the psp2(when eva that is) because i know as long as he's here sony will always come 3rd
True, so true!
the first thing I thought was if you have the 1.50 kernel on the slim you can emulate 1.50 using MPH firmware loader, and devhook for other firmwares, the tme machine indeed.
The slim still doesn't have ab IR port. This is a compelling reason to upgrade, but I'll keep my phat, thanks. I like turning off random TVs with it.
I can understand Classic psp sure isnt worth playing games on. not much use left for those otherwise.
isos still run faster than psp slim games
i want a slim!
and on this bombshell...
(jeremy clarkson, please add st witty here)
only thing keeping me from buying a slim is the lack of IR port...sucks tho, I really liked having the ability to have a universal/programmable remote IN my most used handheld. Now with Skype I can pretty much replace my cell phone too lol.
Don't worry, knowing dark alex, he'll just make a software mod that can screw with the wifi frequencies, and make them emulate IR wavelengths.
how the hell can you do that? cant magically change wi-fi to ifra- red waves! even with dark alex still not possible though hes good. U cried for a slim for tv out, little more ram and to be lighter cause u guys are too weak to hold a phat. your fault. (actin angry for u guys hatin on phat)
I...I... I don't believe this.....
This is too good to be true....
Please tell me that I'm not dreaming...

I guess it's a noobish question since everyone is always so full of joy & exciting when it come to the 1.50 kernel.. but what the hell is the great advantage in having the 1.50 kernel?? I have never really understood what the fuss was all about.
I mean, i have a psp slim and all my favourite homebrew such as my favourite emulators (cps1, cps2, snes, sega, neo geo, mvspsp, etc...) or stuff such as irshell, mapthis, furikup, psptube, ps one games, and so on work perfectly.
In fact i haven't yet encountered a homebrew i wanted that didn't work on my slim.
Please someone tell why would it be soooo good to have a 1.50 kernel on my slim?
Thanks.
I can't really explain it so good, but there are TONS of programs that require. Obviously you had the luck not encountering such a program.
Here's just one example: Daedalus.
Like I said, it's hard for me to explain, but under 2.XX and higher you don't have full access to all features and hardware of the PSP, for example the USB and the Infrared port. (well, the Slim has no IR port, so this is unnecessary, but I think you know what I mean.)
basically you have access to some homebrew that require the 1.50 kernel. You give Daedalus as an example, well as long as there isn't a version released wich works decent with sound support I don't want it. But that's beside the point here. I still would like to know which awesome homebrew stuff i am really missing out? Besides, i thought nowadays most homebrew stuff that comes out isn't based on the 1.50 kernel anymore. In other words the 1.50 kernel is outdated.
Guess I still don't get what the fuss is all about...
i agree, what is the big fuss....all the homebrew i used wit my slim works, only trouble i had was makin a pandoras battery wit my slim and a phat battery...but i did it after a lil bit
Gpsp
if 1.5 kernel was not needed why would dax bother to add it? can run lot 3.xx emulators on slim but most are crappy the 1.5 kernel is stable and dev friendly.
More access + more functions + More speed + More features
@ Sliver-Tiger
Daedlus works fine on a slim...
Dark_Alex recorded that video with a Go!Cam :)
Yeah Now ppl will start buying more Slim and Phat will be opaque in the Shadows... Still I have a Phat and still working, yeah whats the point of having a PSP Phat if u have a PSP slim with all the features and more that the Phat have! Yeah si like, OMG! I want a slim now...lol is funny isn't...
Ironic...
PSPMAN90
Blast!
What the deuce?
Victory is mine!
Family Guy is a severely unfunny show.
OH LAWD INCOMING FROWN RATINGS
This rocks!! Now i can sell my fat PSP and by a nokia n810!! DAX, YOU'RE A SAINT!
virtually all emulators for the phat psp have now been recoded to work on the slim psp.
they are better on the slim due to the improved location of the sound output speakers on the slim! louder clearer
sound, thats the main reason to upgrade to a slim, and longer battery life. however - the new slim feels cheap in build department - it feels cheap in the hand and im sure its screen seems to scratch easier.
its good - bad. get a slim and keep your phatty and enjoy the best of both worlds! its cheap enough now!
here's 5 reasons not to use a phat.
DPAD DPAD DPAD (if you havent noticed... LOFL NOOB)
Speaker direction
weight. (over 50% more than)
No USB Charge
UMD Tray + Button
Its like sticking with a mad cats controller with something heavy inside and a broken xbox dpad. instead of just using an official one.
sony really screwed up on the first psp. and some of you are whack for trying tp justify using yours
for the ir.
drop your wiimote and pick up your channel changer? what a waste.
why the hell are you still posting about how good a slim is after u complained before, got lowest comment rating and then got told aftr caled a dumb***? Slim has the worst homebrew capabilities and u need special software. So Xyal STFU! not dissing other slim owners just this retarded fruitcake.
Not sure I understand this video, I had always thought NETWORK UPDATES came with v2.xx. This must be very customized 1.50.
this cant be the 1.50 kernel thats on the phats, its physically impossible.
If I recall correctly, Network Update was in 1.50. My Fat PSP came with 1.50 and I believe it had Network Update on it.
And 1.50 kernel on the Slim is possible.
Internet Browser came with 2.0 not network update
@majorbb100
DAX does the impossible time and time again
i meant that the motherboard wont recognize 1.50 firmware. so it must be a motherboard patch or it must be a modded 1.50 firmware. thats my thoughts on the subject. tell me if you know more.
"Of course, installing the 1.50 kernel onto your PSP Slim may not be the only thing it does, as Mathieulh has revealed that Time Machine is still a work in progress, and is not yet the final product"
..lol ***** anything else they need to add, i just want my 1.5 on slim!! apparently though it also installs 2.70 but idc about that i just want 1.5 on slim.
i cant wait to see what else it can do. probably somethin awesome.
This means the Slim is an all-inclusive homebrew platform (except for the IR). This means you can run basically any homebrew out there. It's beautiful and it's magical and necessary, simply cuz you are linking two worlds that Sony had forcefully kept apart! But can they really stop us? I don't think so...
I know of a few essential 1.5 apps the Slim couldn't handle. So, as soon as the TM is out, I'll be running RoadDog and sniffing around =)
i never figured out how to use road dog, i got it to work but i just couldnt figure out what to do with it. and i think road dog is already slim compatible anyway.
WWWOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO NO MORE PANDORA'SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
when is it going to be out and available
So if you put that in psp you will not need pandora' right? so you can go from 1.50 to 3.90 m33 right away right? that awesome
This will help out us Slim owners who want to do "Despertar del Cementerio"... but don't have a friend with a hacked PSP to get the ball rolling.
*fingers crossed*
This isn't an exploit. You'll probably still need a hacked Slim in order to run this. Sorry.
