is Dark Alex going to work on hacking 2.81? been waiting forever for a downgrade hacked 2.81 im sure Alex could do it
there are so many people waiting for something for 2.81 ta-082 users i know because i am one of them no homebrew for like a month and a half this really sucks....i got mine this way and i cant wait....lol
how do i know if i have a TA-082. please help.
sweeeeeeeeeeeetttttttttttttttttt!
You said "Now at v2, or "B", the firmware has matured very well, and offers a truckload of features. Here's what's new in the latest update:"
It should be v3
if you're going by your way of thinking about it, this is version 4, i.e. A, B, B' and B''
but think of it as version 2.02?
xxx
DAX support and a switch for 222/300/333 Mhz, that will make it V3 or maybe better 2.71SE-Platinum :-)
Keep up this fantastic programming D_A !!
And??? Does the UMD of VCS work now? (without swapping?)
read the news again ...
yes both vcs umd and iso run perfectly good work yet again sir dark alex
Dark_Alex- couldnt he work this in the Hen_C, make it like Hen_D or whatever, for us ta- users cuz we are out in the cold when it comes to running the umd.. Is that even possible? and does anyone know how to get ahold of Dark Alex or at least post where he'd be avle to see it?
just get the iso for now
Good, I've updated 3 minutes ago, but PSPBrew, don't recognize my PSP now. I've swapped the HB directory between GAME and GAME150 (Upper-case) but i can't ordinate my HB/ISOs. Can You help me please?
A guy on the Psp Mirc chan called ''Miktar'' told me this fix that might work for you. Just make sure that your Psp Memory Stick has a file on it called ''MEMSTICK.IND''. If it does not have one create an empty text file and name it this.
Pspbrew will not work without this file. By the way, if you set your homebrew folder Game as 1.5 Kernel, you don't need anything else and can run everything apart from 2.71 specific homebrew.
does the cso still chop?
it can't not.
my cso runs perfectly
Do we have to do anhything with the DH folder that came with it? Also, does the cso of GTAVCS still have major slowdown with this?
You can leave the DH dir where is it.
yes. it still slows down...
only 3 games show up on my psp when i'm in the game section of my psp, even though i put 6 games in the ISO folder. I dont know if it's b/c i'm using a 4GB Scandisk stick while running SE-B''...well i been having the same problem with all versions of SE-B. Can some one help or let me know how i can relay this info to Dark_Alex?
I'll tell you in about 2 minutes because im about to update
Sorry I got busy. Anyway yes all four of mine show up (Family Guy, Medal Of Honor, Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins, and GTA:VCS) And I have a Sony 4GB
yeah i have a sony 4gig as well but i have never had any problems with my iso's not showing up. I am also running the latest update. it could be a corrupt iso. but even then it should show up but would not load.
I have this problem once. This could be the memory stick. When it happens to me, also my homebrews show up as corrupted data.
You can try this: go to the PSP/SYSTEM folder and delete de isocache.bin (this file is a index of your files on ISO foder) then check again
if u want more games to fit on ur memory chip ur going to have to compress the ISOs
Gitaroo Man won't show up!!! It's weird, its just not there. I tried deleting the ISOcache file but nothings changed. Anyone find anything else that works?
my VCS worked well just with NOUMD - on and UMD in drive present...no fu*king swaping :) a thought this would run VCS without umd in drive but what the heck... its cool anyway :)
Is it possible to emulate this firmware with Devhook? I want to test the firmware first before installing it. And can I use my kxploited 1.5 EBOOTs with this? I'm new to this custom Firmware.
just update, if you don't like the firmware you can downgrade again.
YES! I love this
in case anybody is wondering, i used CWCheat
all i did was uninstall it before updating (to be safe)
updated to B"
installed CWCheat
it didnt brick and still works
I hope an update for USB ISO loading comes out soon; that's what I really want most. Great work Dark_Alex :-)
hi there i bet dark alex is bored of everyone praising him but i think he deserves it.
thanks all the work is greatly appretiated.
this firmware is just amazing.
updates coming so quick is great too.
so on behalf of everyone thanks
that's amzing work. running vcs with the umd in it's case! battery life should hold up better now.
Next up, a 333mhz switch hopefully...
what we really need is a way to install a slim hard drive or flash drive and support for more than 4gb.
Its been tried and failed. people tried to put in a Ipod hard drive and it failed to work properly. plus there is no room for it. inside the psp.
2.81 or 2.82 allows 8gb mem cards to be used.
can i afford one... first lets w8 4 a devhook 2.82...
great improvements....now the no umd support is improved i think i might not bother with umd, since it wastes the battery
great work dark alex, these custom firmware updates are awesome
Can someone please help me.
Girls are not good at this sort of thing....
Can I have a step by step of how to get from 2.5 to 2.71
No I am not blond!!!
Thanks
Claire
download firmware 2.71 from the dl section in this website.
next make a folder called update and place it in:
ms0:/psp/game/(here)
finally go to the game folder and you will see the update to 2.71 folder and select and run it.
you know that if you want 2.71 se-b you to have 1.5 then use the 2.71 se-b update
look for the 2.5 to 1.5 downgrader, then upgrade to 2.71 se-a, then to b, then to b', then to this one
Well 2.71 supports 8GB and that driver hasn't been removed in SE
2.71 does not support 8GB memory sticks, it was added in 2.8.
Greater than 4Gb support was added in 2.81, not 2.80
Well Im with good ol 1.50 because this is the Gooooolden firmware or so I read somewhere.
Why should I put this instead of leaving 1.50? Any1 know about some thread about the pros and cons of this and 1.50?
Cheers m8's!!
DO IT, DO IT, DO IT.
I upgrade to 2.71SE when Rev. B came out and I love it.
sorry to tell you this but 2.71-SE B" has no cons it can do everything 1.5 can and a lot of things 1.5 can't.
2.71-SE B" can do
-----------------------
--Remove boot intro
--Recovery mode
--run app/game at boot
--can run 3 eboots 1.5 / 1.0 / 2.71
--no umd on a lot of games!!!
--everything sony added since 1.5 (wallpaper/rss/web browser/wma/flash)
--many many others
Just update you can always downgrade back to 1.5
ARE U SURE U CAN DOWNGRADE BACK TO 1.5!!! because it u cant.....it sux etc.
yeah u can return 1.5 really easy just Put Off ur psp and restart and hold R u ll be in Recovery mode just run eboot 1.5 and u donwgrade in 1.5 u dont need to use a downgrader this one in 2.71 SE FW lol
It also runs isos + csos from the XMB, without DevHook. It is will run dax files in the future "C" update.
Thanks, it works well, now coooooooool
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can someone tell me how to put this software on my 1.5 PSP. I got VCS on UMD but cant play it yet etc. I have a working devhook (meaning the stuff that goes into the DH folder.)
Can someone PLEASE PLEASE help me!
Yesterday i had 1.5. Now im using this. What I did:
1. Downloaded SE-B New User Build from http://pspupdates.qj.net/2-71-SE-B-Installers/pg/49/aid/70730
2. Plugged my PSP into my computer and ran the program I downloaded in step 1. The install seemed to get stuck at 63%. I plugged my PSP into the charger and it resumed.
3. The installer put a new program into my PSP. I ran that and it installed SE-B.
4. I deleted unecessary files (optional).
5. Downloaded this update that you can find right here on this page.
6. Opened it up and copied the "PSP" folder into my PSP, replacing the original.
7. Turned off (not sleep) my PSP and turned it back on while holding the R trigger. This lets you change some options (like being able to run ISOs without a UMD in your PSP), but this step is optional.
8. Enjoyed my VCS UMD and all the other things SE-B 3 offers!
I've got the original SE-B firmware nd im gonna update but ive got a custom gameboot nd font. shud i take them off b4 updatin or can i leave dem???
yes its just a little update
There goes my 15 minutes of fame but it was a great ride, the original video on youtube was viewed over 13 000 times in 24 hours!!!W0OT Wo0T!!!! booooyah!!!!
lol. good for you dude.
this is awesome! now, how do i put homebrew in my psp without getting corrupt icons?
Turn off your psp, (all the way, not sleep mode) hold 'R' before turning your psp on, then go through the menu and you can disable corrupt icons, (If you have recovery mode, that corrupt icon won't go away.)
ThX!! Great Work!!!
Can i use the previous 333mhz patch or do i have to wait for the new one?
All custom modules are working with it! And if you have installed it on B' it ist installed also on B'' without reinstalling!
Yes it worked like a charm!
Am i correct in assuming that because it will run the VCS UMD without doing a FW version check that ANY game will run regardless of the FW version?
someone answer this man because i would also like to know
i dun have vcs umd. no doubt vcs cso run in no-umd mode but some iso like atv pro which has the same sfo version as vcs (v2.81) is not bootable yet. so i also assume this se-b'' will bypass vcs fw version chk but not all games.
ermm.... i dont understand by not putting UMD inside to play the game ...
i'm currently on 2.71 SE-B" but yet i still have to put a UMD inside if not the game doesnt load ... its says The Game Coudn't be started or something like tat .... so i juz have to leave a UMD inside in order to play the ISO .... btw ... the game is NFS Carbon ... and also if i dont use devhook and load it directly ... after playing halfway ... the game hangs ... other game like dragonball or me and my katamari is ok .... only NFS Carbon is giving me prob
Did you enter the Recovery Mode and enable "NO-UMD" Mode?
If so, I don't know what happens ^^
If not, DO IT and READ the README
do a complete power off on the psp and then power it back on and hold the R trigger, you will get to the recovery menu. from there go to the no UMD option and you are on your way.
