Ó

2.71 Custom FirmwareDark_AleX has yet again updated his awesome 2.71 SE-B custom firmware. Now at v2, or B", the firmware has matured very well, and offers a truckload of features. Here's what's new in the latest update:

  • Added SFO version bypass to real umd's. (this should enable gta vcs umd to be played.)
  • Fixed the problem of error 0x8002012D in certain games when plain modules is enabled. Because the problem is gone, the updater will reset the option of plain modules to enabled. If for some reason you still have that error, report it and disable the option, but it should be fixed now.
  • Found and corrected 3 bugs regarding no umd.
    •  - One of them affected Virtual Tennis and potentially a lot of other games.
    •  - The other two affected GTA LCS and GTA VCS.
    •  - Some games like Burnout Legend still don't run in no-umd because of what seems a kernel stack problem.
Since this is just an update to the already released SE-B, the best way to get your PSP up to this firmware is by either installing SE-A first, and doing all the incremental updates (SE-B, SE-B', and this one SE-B"), or by installing the full version of SE-B and then going on to do the incremental updates (SE-B' and SE-B"). Our recommendation would be to first install SE-A and then do incremental updates, since that method has proven to be quite fool-proof. Click on the respective custom firmware links to be taken to its release article.

Finally, for everyone here who has been updating regularly and for those who've now reached SE-B', all you have to do is put the extracted folder in your memory stick and run the update. Remember to change the folder name to GAME if you've changed the related setting in the Recovery Menu, but those will be quite rare. Enjoy the download below!

You said "Now at v2, or "B", the firmware has matured very well, and offers a truckload of features. Here's what's new in the latest update:"

It should be v3

 » you're wrong

if you're going by your way of thinking about it, this is version 4, i.e. A, B, B' and B''

but think of it as version 2.02?

 » V3

DAX support and a switch for 222/300/333 Mhz, that will make it V3 or maybe better 2.71SE-Platinum :-)

Keep up this fantastic programming D_A !!

 » Pspbrew ''doesn't recognise'' fix

A guy on the Psp Mirc chan called ''Miktar'' told me this fix that might work for you. Just make sure that your Psp Memory Stick has a file on it called ''MEMSTICK.IND''. If it does not have one create an empty text file and name it this.

Pspbrew will not work without this file. By the way, if you set your homebrew folder Game as 1.5 Kernel, you don't need anything else and can run everything apart from 2.71 specific homebrew.

 » Re

yeah i have a sony 4gig as well but i have never had any problems with my iso's not showing up. I am also running the latest update. it could be a corrupt iso. but even then it should show up but would not load.

   Re: Alexandre (Unregistered) - 2006-11-04
 » >>

I have this problem once. This could be the memory stick. When it happens to me, also my homebrews show up as corrupted data.
You can try this: go to the PSP/SYSTEM folder and delete de isocache.bin (this file is a index of your files on ISO foder) then check again

if u want more games to fit on ur memory chip ur going to have to compress the ISOs

my VCS worked well just with NOUMD - on and UMD in drive present...no fu*king swaping :) a thought this would run VCS without umd in drive but what the heck... its cool anyway :)

what we really need is a way to install a slim hard drive or flash drive and support for more than 4gb.

Its been tried and failed. people tried to put in a Ipod hard drive and it failed to work properly. plus there is no room for it. inside the psp.

 » reply

download firmware 2.71 from the dl section in this website.
next make a folder called update and place it in:
ms0:/psp/game/(here)
finally go to the game folder and you will see the update to 2.71 folder and select and run it.

   Re: sdf (Unregistered) - 2006-11-02
 » 2.5 to 2.71

you know that if you want 2.71 se-b you to have 1.5 then use the 2.71 se-b update

   Re: j (Unregistered) - 2006-11-02
 » ;p

look for the 2.5 to 1.5 downgrader, then upgrade to 2.71 se-a, then to b, then to b', then to this one
   by jtoitr (Unregistered) - 2006-11-02
 » Well 2.71 supports 8GB

Well 2.71 supports 8GB and that driver hasn't been removed in SE

   Re: bogalog (Unregistered) - 2006-11-02
 » 2.71

2.71 does not support 8GB memory sticks, it was added in 2.8.

   Re: UberBiggs - 2006-11-02
 » nope

Greater than 4Gb support was added in 2.81, not 2.80

Well Im with good ol 1.50 because this is the Gooooolden firmware or so I read somewhere.

Why should I put this instead of leaving 1.50? Any1 know about some thread about the pros and cons of this and 1.50?

Cheers m8's!!

DO IT, DO IT, DO IT.
I upgrade to 2.71SE when Rev. B came out and I love it.

   Re: PSPUser (Unregistered) - 2006-11-02
 » pros and cons

sorry to tell you this but 2.71-SE B" has no cons it can do everything 1.5 can and a lot of things 1.5 can't.

2.71-SE B" can do
-----------------------
--Remove boot intro
--Recovery mode
--run app/game at boot
--can run 3 eboots 1.5 / 1.0 / 2.71
--no umd on a lot of games!!!
--everything sony added since 1.5 (wallpaper/rss/web browser/wma/flash)
--many many others

Just update you can always downgrade back to 1.5

   Re: ALI (Unregistered) - 2006-11-02
